ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (11/3/2010 11:24:10 AM)

Get not to do the 2 afghans yesterday (forgot to pack them), but we did go to the HL next door to it.  The study did have a room for Mom to sleep in (no hotels were available because of some convention in town).  they did not have the bon bon yarn that I needed, but I did get the soft yarn that I will need for Mom's afghan.  I swear that HL has more skeins of yarn than Red Heart.  I will keep my mind open with these rascals.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (11/6/2010 8:00:52 AM)

FINALLY!!  The walmart here in town got some Bon Bon print in stock.  I am also slowly getting the yarn in for Mom's afghan.  I still have to finish up the peace blanket (which is what I waited for because of the bon bon print).  So if I am not on the forums, I am busy working on the afghans.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Needles and Hooks (11/6/2010 8:45:21 AM)

I am Pondering what to do next. I have several project bags set, I should just pick one up, but they all involve yarn changes, and I am not in a mathy mood.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Needles and Hooks (11/6/2010 8:47:30 AM)

Oh and I went to Tuesday Morning and scored more cheap knitting needles. They had louisa harding ribbon yarn! Other nice stuff too, but only enough of any one thing for hat level projects. Which is purely stupid.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (11/6/2010 1:54:52 PM)

been getting my room clean.  finally realized that I have too many pillows, including the body pillow.

don't know is the worse pack-rat...mom or me.  I still got books galore in the nice shed

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (11/6/2010 4:14:09 PM)

I finally learn a certain stitch  on the afghan that I am selling.

Instead of ending and rejoin in an other stitch, I let two loop on the and pull through a thrid loop of the different color.  It is similar to crosses on the WS.

Work is a lot  better and it looks professional.

fluffypet61 -> RE: Needles and Hooks (11/6/2010 5:44:23 PM)

Almost done the afgan for Master.  It's big enough for a spread for His bed.  All i have left to do is crochet the edge all around.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (11/6/2010 7:45:59 PM)

I recommend a reversible single stitch, also known as a shrimp stitch.

fluffypet61 -> RE: Needles and Hooks (11/6/2010 8:01:47 PM)

Is that the same as the crab stitch?  i used the crab stitch on some coasters last month.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (11/6/2010 8:51:10 PM)

Yes...I forgot that name for it...LOL!

Try crocheting while having to wear a heart monitor...I have to make sure the yarn does not get tangle in mine lines.

Oh my gosh a craft thread - this site has everything! :)

I just finished crocheting a poncho for my daughter. The part that I procrastinated forever on was the fringe. I hate doing fringe. She has requested a matching hat. I am making something for my love but won't say it in case he cruises the forums (which I don't think he does). I'm trying to somehow throw together a quilt this week to raffle off to raise money for care packages for deployed soldiers. And I'm going to make another poncho for my niece.

I am considering attempting to make a braided rug. Has anybody here done that?

LadyDragonMist -> RE: Needles and Hooks (11/7/2010 3:25:47 PM)

I got about halfway done with my brother's hat & ran out of yarn. I thought I had enough left after I finished his scarf, but I was wrong. I'll stop at Walmart between class tomorrow & get another skein.

KMsAngel -> RE: Needles and Hooks (11/7/2010 5:36:34 PM)

i've started and stalled out on a braided rug. i'm seriously considering pulling it apart and doing a toothbrush rug. looks MUCH easier.

Okay, I fucked up.  It is mainly a group of knitters and crocheters (I call myself a hooker).  All other crafters can join right om in.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (11/8/2010 3:05:45 AM)

we are hoping some crafting men would come in and amaze us in what they do.[8D]

I know of one man that had to leave NO because of Katrine. He gave me tonnes of hanks so I can work some hats for the homeless. I did volunteer (and clerical temp) work after the bitch came through.  Ray is in Houston now, keeping the charity going.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (11/9/2010 12:34:09 PM)

I had to have Georgie out of my feet. I am trying to work on the Peace Sign afghan and listening to the tv. (does not mention "neting")

went to walmart and I avoided the Yarn section.  Mom and I lost each other.  Mom got her exercise... and I forgot the prenatal vitamins (they work for strong fingernails and hair).

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Needles and Hooks (11/9/2010 12:39:47 PM)

Oh CRAP I forgot about Ev's cape!! I made a cape for an SSBBW friend, and DUH forgot that she has short arms... so the sides are draggy and need to be... CUT! EEEEEEEE!!!! So, I am pretending it's a sideways steek, and crocheting a base for new fringe. When I remember! And it's almost winterrrrrrr....

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Needles and Hooks (11/9/2010 12:54:40 PM)

I am hating my Origami hoodie. Well, not HATING. Just not WEARING. It is 3/4 sleeve, which I generally LOVE but it's also in a color that I guess is not the best color for quasi-outerwear. It's a beautiful color. Just not the RIGHT color? Yanno?

I haz a sad. I might frog the hoodie, like I frogged the duster coat. I wanted something to wear over my sleeveless dresses for work, and the hoodie seems to casual. Le sigh. This should be the worst of my problems!!

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (11/10/2010 12:47:19 PM)

Okay...I hate flare ups.  Especially fibromyalgia flare ups.

Best recommendation...STFU and stay out of the way.  Just give me the chocolate and you might survive.
