I guess my thoughts are just too pedestrian.

Make a prayer shawl, have a raffle at church and the money can be donated to either the church or any other charity.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Needles and Hooks (6/18/2010 1:20:21 PM)

I donate plenty not stuffs that cost that much! It just irks me that I would miscalculate a style like that, that NEVER happens. OF course, I rarely do ready made patterns either! Hmph.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (6/18/2010 1:23:57 PM)

Here are the patterns I use half the time.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Needles and Hooks (6/18/2010 1:26:18 PM)

Those are cool. I am always downloading stuff from lionbrand and berroco, too. Then making something I design myself. I am being all slack now, and I have a couple patterns that I like, but now I have to DO MATH to make them match the yarns I chose for them. Because knitting is math.

Shar, crochet me the kirra coat!! So much prettier in the crocheted version lol. (must weigh a ton, too...)

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (6/18/2010 1:27:51 PM)

I wonder if Herrschners carries that yarn...LOL!

ETA: OMG...I actually spelled it right!

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Needles and Hooks (6/18/2010 1:29:08 PM)

Bet they will next year!!

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (6/18/2010 1:40:34 PM)

They do carry Berroco, but not the yarn I am looking for.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Needles and Hooks (6/18/2010 1:43:02 PM)

I think it has to be out for a bit. Discontinuedbrandnameyarn is now going to be Dontbuynewyarn. Not liking the name change, it implies that the stuff is used, don't you think?

Anyway. I am NOT BUYING YARN THIS WEEK.

Lion Brand and the yarn, too. Here

Thanks, fluffypet. I have a friend starting chemo, so I shall start this soon.

fluffypet61 -> RE: Needles and Hooks (6/18/2010 3:08:22 PM)

i do the caps on double pointed needles.  It takes about one day if i can concentrate.  Two or three days if i put it down a lot.  WallyWorld had the yarn for the brown one.  The instructions say 2 balls of Fun Fur and 1 ball of the plain yarn.  I had a whole ball of Fun Fur left over, so you might be able to get by with just 1 of each.

I just ordered the pattern.  I think (wait, I know) that mom is going to kill me, but I love the way this shrug hangs.

You just need to get yarn..and your size.

Here is the yarn I am looking at.

Not what I thought the topic was about :>

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (6/18/2010 4:27:04 PM)

For our next trick...knitting on a tight rope!

That is nice yarn, Shar.

I tried on the coat again... and maybe won't frog it TODAY. LOL!! Who am I kidding, it makes my ass look HUGE! [sm=biggrin.gif] Yeah, right, my huge ass always looks huge!!

MistressHolly71 -> RE: Needles and Hooks (6/18/2010 9:42:10 PM)

No I don't spin, but my SIL does or at least she used to. My brother was talking about selling all the animals. I'll email her & find out what the decision was (if any).

It gets plenty freeeezing here!! Actuallly this is a neato blend that feels like twine! It will be great at work over my sleeveless dresses. Gotta make the most out of that damn wardrobe!! It should work casually too... provided I don't wear it once and frog it! LOL!!

There is a great hoodie pattern in the same book and I have this obsession with hoodies. All it needs is pockets to be great!

~~cashmere~~?? do you spin? I do NOT. NO! NO! spinning!

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Needles and Hooks (6/19/2010 7:21:54 PM)

I would love to have some alpacas... to hand dye the yarn someone ELSE would spin...

Frogging that coat is serious FUN~ I'm looking forward to my hoodie!

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (6/19/2010 9:09:28 PM)

I was thinking of crocheting this afternoon but Lizard's bedroom was a mess.

I got a good part of it done, except under the bed, the gaming systems (oh gods...this is worst than my old yarn collection), and the closet (which I checked for one on my blouses).
