You are ebil, Hib...now I want to get a few(okay many) hanks of yarn there...[;)]

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/1/2010 6:41:26 AM)

I looked at half.com and this is what comes us.

http://search.half.ebay.com/knitting-book-vogue_W0QQmZbooks

This ois one of the places I get my books (including shaman teaching )

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/1/2010 8:46:21 AM)

The yarn from knitpicks is actually hit or miss, IMO. I have the alpaca/silk laceweight and love it, but the heavier yarns are not super quality. But they are cheap, right? I am a horrible yarn snob in that I want the best possible since it takes ages to make a garment. So I cruise the discontinued sites!

LINEN on sale at patternworks! This makes me sad. I heart linen. But it will be on sale next year too.

DarlingSavage -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/1/2010 8:51:16 AM)

OMGosh!  I just saw those Vogue knitting books and the stitchionary!  I want I want I want!

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/1/2010 8:59:59 AM)

I treasure my Barbara Walker books for the stitch guides, but that Vogue book is da bomb!!

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/1/2010 3:38:14 PM)

I just won a copy of "from Knit to Crochet" on ebay for $3.28.  With shipping, I paid $7.27

Who is ebil now...<WEG>

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/1/2010 3:52:35 PM)

fluffypet61 -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/1/2010 3:53:09 PM)

The package came today with the yarn and needle to make another project.  It's 100% cotton so that it fits with the rules for Kosher not to mix fibers.  Has anyone heard of official Kosher yarn?

DarlingSavage -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/2/2010 3:01:24 AM)

No, I can't say I have heard of kosher yarn.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/2/2010 7:22:34 AM)

here you go, fluffy!

Don't know if the rabbi has to bless it first...

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/2/2010 10:27:50 AM)

HolyMOLY I had no idea that there was such a thing as Kosher fiber. So no linsey-woolseys for Orthodox Jews! Wowser.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/2/2010 4:23:55 PM)

Hib, I will get the CM when mom goes to bed.  No porn allowed in the house and the front page of the other side does that, so I check it out in a wee bit.

Meanwhile...Mom got me a P & Q hooks today.  Slowly getting my cache up...and I found let another project in the works.

DesFIP -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/2/2010 4:29:45 PM)

You can mix silk and cotton, cotton and ramie, etc. It's only linsey woolsey that's forbidden. This came up during Bar Mitzvah Torah study. As I recall even the rabbi hadn't a clue about it. His best guess, as I recall, was that since for ancient Hebrews, anyone could be high priest (under certain conditions) the entire people are considered priests, not laymen. And to show this, certain things were forbidden to demonstrate the devotion. In the same way that Catholic priests are forbidden to marry, simply to devote themselves wholly to God.

And if I'm wrong, this was four years ago and I blame my age and declining memory!

Oh my goodness!  They discovered a suspicious looking stool that they thought could have been the culprit for several of them getting pregnant at the same time!

Has anyone bought from http://www.dontbuynewyarn.com & if so, what did you think of them?

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/4/2010 4:38:23 PM)

Got it bookmarked already.

They used to be discontinuedbrandnameyarn.com. I do not want to THINK about how much money I have given those girls this year alone. I highly recommend them. The are the devil!!

MistressHolly71 -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/4/2010 5:53:28 PM)

Thanks. I knew about the name change because of Ravelry, but I didn't know anyone who'd used them. I've never bought yarn online before.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/4/2010 5:59:47 PM)

OMG. Wait until they get the stuff all moved over and have new stock. Do you like the handpainted stuffs? YOUR WALLET WILL EVAPORATE!!! Their service is excellent, very quick, but NO RETURNS, so it's important that you love what you buy.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/5/2010 4:22:19 PM)

so far so good. Mom has not check my checking account yet but she about to get on my ass for buying todays items. I reminded her that I had a refund coming in.

I swear that if I get on Herrschenrrs site, she gives me the ebil eye.
