and by the way... why are farmers always blamed for this one?  They get up to milk the cow when it's half past crazy no matter what the numbers on the clock say.... Says the granddaughter and sister of farmers.... clears throat

Status: offline 		i grew up in Brooklyn. so here in the midwest i get funny looks when i say three and it sounds like tree.  i refuse to say focus, it always sounds like fuck us no matter how hard i try .

Right there with ya Rain...theater, theatre, caliber,calibre, colour, color.....but then after while it was fun.....when the teachers marked me wrong, I just pulled out the dictionary and damn!  there it was!  I was a smartass when I was in school...thank goodness I outgrew it!!!!

Status: offline 		  I tried that - and got told that it didn't matter, I was in such and such place and had to use proper spelling for 'there'. Now where I did get into serious trouble and almost got thrown out of school for was continuously correcting the history teacher in California. The asshole couldn't even teach what was in his own textbook correctly. And hated the fact that I was actually reading the damn thing. He ended up tossing me out of his class and refused to let me back in. When it came before the counselor and she heard what was going on, she gave me an "A" in the course and made me her aide. Which basically meant I either ran errands for her or read during that period.

I could use an assistant.. wanna sashay on up to Oregon and help me?  I got a gazillion students with writing like 6 year olds...  Brilliant when they speak, but *slaps my head* I gotta remember - these are college professors, lawyers, business men, doctors, etc in their own countries.

Thank god that was the only thing wrong with that sentence!

But honestly, am I the only one who gets snarky when someone refers to "a women"? I see this so often, I think it must get taught in school.

I write short little sentences and don't want to explain them - like graffiti.  I can't spell, split infinitives (ow!), am bothered by ending sentences with a preposition but can't figure out how to avoid it without being silly.  (And that is something up with which I will not put.)

Status: offline 		"Proactive".  I hate this.  There is "active" and there is "reactive".  "Proactive" is redundant.

People using "less" when they mean "fewer" and vice versa

And of course, not knowing the difference between "prostate" and "prostrate"

    As in going to do something.
