The best place to look is at a university library for such things. You will be unlikely to find them under "BDSM" however. You'll have to try more clinical and psychological terms. Most of what I have seen (sorry I don't references, just my memories right now) is very limited in scope (college age men are the most common group followed by those in therapy), examines via self-reported surveys of kink groups, looks at for-money exchanges, and plays fast and loose with historical data. I have not been that impressed thus far. But what can we expect when it is still so taboo and so many of us make sure we keep this part of our lives separate from other parts? Its like studying only gay bars to understand homosexuality. Until folks are comfortable enough to volunteer, only those on the edges will be viewed. Relying on self-reported surveys raises other concerns. But then all research has problems, part of the reason repeat, revise, and have multiple studies I guess.
