Sub03 -> How do you get your ex to let go?? (8/5/2008 12:06:56 PM)

How do you get an ex to let go who refuses too? I have an ex who knows I am taken and knows that there is no chance of anything happening between us and yet he just wont stop trying. To be completely honest something did happen once after we broke up and I will always regret that bad choice, but I refuse to let something happen again and I know he thinks he can get me to change my mind.  I tried just breaking off contact but he won't stop calling me and texting me, he calls me at least twice a day everyday for the past week and a half. I finally broke down and talked to him today but he just won't accept that it's over, he tries to turn all my arguements around to his way of thinking. The obvious easy answer is to have my Master talk to him but my Master is away right now so he can't take care of it like he would like too. And Him being away is part of the reason my ex won't leave me alone.....he figures with my Master gone now is his chance. I don't know what to do anymore.....ignoring him dosent work, talking to him dosen't work....any ideas?? Helpful advice??

as long as he thinks you're going to eventually answer (like you have), he'll keep calling you.  i would suggest ignoring him forever.  you can't control what anyone else does and it seems you are giving him a lot of power in your life even though he isn't in it anymore.

Um, tickle his armpits.

Seriously, it sounds that he could possibly become dangerous at this point (mind you, I dont know his side of the story).  Do you think he could snap and turn violent on you? My advice is change your number and quit all correspondance.  If you think he is dangerous, I'd hate to give you the wrong advice that could possibly set him off.

Your right....I shouldn't have answered him but I just got tired of him constantly bugging me. I thought maybe if I talked to him maybe he would get the picture. Unfortunetly I was wrong.

UR2Badored: No I don't think he would get violent...I dont see him as that kind of person

cricket bat?

change you phone number (this will come with a smalkl charge unless you get a crime number from the police, then it will be free)
change your emails/usernames etc
you cannot easily change your address but you can easily research restraining orders
document everything you have done to distance yourself from him, and log all his attempts to get back in touch

If he is being a dick ... be a dick back ... or like I said .... cricket bat

I agree with softness.. Or I'd pay someone to break his legs.  I know how it is sometimes ignoring doesn't work

grins at Divi ... see ... soft as cup cakes me!

Unfortunetly I can't change my number because alot of people have my number that are important. They have to do with my Master coming home soon and it would be a big pain to get my new number to all of them.

~fr~

You can block his number from allowable calls. If you report his harassment to the phone company, after you've logged and confirmed a certain number of his calls by punching in a *something number, they'll do it for free.

Put in writing to him that you consider his attempts at contact as harassment, then record everything...the ones that seem the most harmless are often the most dangerous.

"He was always such a quiet guy..."

FR~

There's an irony of this thread being right next to the "He won't call" thread.

But in response to your question, Sub03 why don't you buy a caller id if you don't have one?  If you have one start using the caller id and don't answer his calls.

I completely agree with this, and it does work eventually. At least it did for me.

How long have you been broken up and how long have you and your new Master been together?

How long will it be before your Master comes home?

Can your new Master call him from wherever he is and tell him to stop calling you?

servantforuse -> RE: How do you get your ex to let go?? (8/5/2008 12:32:24 PM)

I would threaten him with a restraining order. I would also inform him that all calls from him are being recorded ....

not meaning to be blunt
but get over the hassle and get it done.
no use complaining about a problem and then dismissing the most obvious solution.

no such thing as can't ... there is will ... or will not.

eyesopened -> RE: How do you get your ex to let go?? (8/5/2008 12:33:53 PM)

It's like getting rid of the stray cat that one makes the mistake of feeding....  I don't know what kind of phone service you have but I'm pretty sure all plans allow you to block text messages so that should be fairly easy.  Then just stop taking his calls.  Like a stray cat, ya stop feeding it, eventually it will go away.  But not if ya feel sorry for it cuz geez its so hot outside and maybe just a bowl of water etc etc.  Nope, gotta just stop answering ALL contact.

I've had my fair share of psycho ex-lovers... God knows... lol. I have T-Mobile (and don't have a home phone, thus it is my only line), and they told me they wouldn't block numbers. Jerks.
See, I'm a nice person; I really am. I try to be kind and considerate... But when it comes to that point, I threaten them with my 13-inch butcher knife and the Castle Law in Texas and invite them over... Or I attack their ego to a point they're too embarassed to call or even get in touch with me... Plus it's nice to vent my frustration on annoying little boys ;-)

I don't know if you are actually paying attention to the advice but everyone is literally saying the same thing - block his calls, text's and emails.  All cell phone services allow you to block phone numbers (including their text mesages) and all email programs have blocking options.  You have the ability to stop this if you want to.

Have you ever tried saying "Listen, we didn't work out.  I don't believe we were meant to.  And now that I have moved on, it is time for you to do yourself a favor and accept that.  Please stop contacting me. I have decided I will no longer buy into your attempts to change my mind."
And then.. just sticking to it.  Dont answer, dont call, dont open emails.  My yahoo mail allows me a filter which, if coming from a specific address, will send it right into my trash pile.
