Shit, this might actually be a problem when he runs for re-election.But given the insistence that he hasn't done anything,he has no experience...yada yada yada...do you really think over exposure is a problem....see you guys in 2012

Yeah, it's a problem.  It's a problem because he's all hype--given that his most notable accomplishment to date is winning the Democratic nomination, Obama is nothing BUT hype.  Hence the comparison to Paris Hilton.  McCain's ad scored a direct hit on Obama for one simple reason: the comparison is all too apt and easy to see.

The more people are reminded that Obama is just "empty celebrity" coupled with socialist stupidity, the fewer people there are who will view him as a credible choice for President.  (Which is good for the country, bad for Obama)

Oh wait are you even able to vote here?

In spirit only for now, but I trust my husband will do the right thing and vote the right way; he is American born and bred and rather patriotic. Like many of your countrymen, he has had just about enough of the complete disaster of the past eight years... and he's certainly in no mood to reward the party of war and economic failure with his vote. Hell, even his mum, a staunch Republican all her life, is going to vote for Obama (a first! You should hear her talk now: she sounds like a cwazy-commie-neo-pinko-libewal, as she deplores the state of the environment and the economic fiasco). I think she's not alone either.

As I said in another thread: que le meilleur gagne.

Aynne -> RE: Poll: Nearly half hearing too much about Obama (8/7/2008 6:26:24 AM)

Kittin, good morning luv. I can't tell you how many people that I know from various community memberships like Kiwanis and the Chamber of Commerce that have been life long republicans that are absolutely *not* going to vote mcCain in November. They are thoroughly disgusted with the entire GOP platform.

By the way, you have contributed infinitely more to the political system in this country even without being able to vote than so many apathetic citizens that sit around and refuse to educate themselves..shameful really.

Last night there was a wonderful program on about the rising economic/political force of China...eye opening. America has sat back on it's lazy laurels far too long and now it is biting us in the proverbial ass. [8|]

Aynne, bonjour ma belle. That's exactly the kind of thing I'm hearing too.

My experience has been the same with neither candidate getting grass roots support from traditional party apologists. I've yet to meet anyone labeling themselves under either party banner who was satisfied with the choice of their party or the alternative. I think 'none of the above' would win in a landslide if it were on the ballot.

The issue that concerns most of my friends invested in the Democratic party is the infighting. It's one thing to have the discussions in the 'old boy' and largely non influential Kiwanis it's another when you have a large, national, and internal battle being waged.

Being outspoken and vocal about "Never" supporting the top of the ticket doesn't bode well for the November result. The Kiwanis and CoC meetings don't have a lot of press coverage. Denver will, and what is viewed will influence many.

But PUMA and other pro-Clinton groups such as the Just Say No Deal Coalition, vowing never to support Obama, are still threatening to raise a ruckus in Denver.

If experience is what is needed  to run a country, then why is america in such a bad situation right now.

kittinSol -> RE: Poll: Nearly half hearing too much about Obama (8/7/2008 7:20:18 AM)

Because the people who have been running the place have the wrong kind of experience [&:] ?

popeye1250 -> RE: Poll: Nearly half hearing too much about Obama (8/7/2008 7:41:16 AM)

Oh yeah, just what we need, another *lawyer* in the White House!
Obama met with M. Stanly Dukakis and John "French" Kerry in Boston on his birthday. Not a good omen meeting with those two losers of the socialist stripe.
Gee, Obama hasn't said much of late about "Genocides in Africa" has he?
Democrats keep fielding Leftists and then act "surprised" when they lose.
Is Obama going to be speaking French like John "Irish" Kerry on the campaign trail?
I bet Obama supports the "U.N." too!
Owner, I thought you were a big Hillary fan? What happened to make you change your mind and start singing Obama's praises just weeks after you were bad-mouthing him?
What if the Democrats ran David Duke, would you support him?
Funny, we haven't heard much lately about what a, "brilliant legal scholor" Obama allegedly is.
Of course divorce lawyers are, "brilliant legal scholors" too, aren't they?

slvemike4u -> RE: Poll: Nearly half hearing too much about Obama (8/7/2008 7:47:27 AM)

Does anyone else plan to be in Washington in January to hear an American President deliver a speech in complete sentences.....I know of at least 2 people here I would be very interested in attending that occasion with!!!

Why would he change any of that now? Oh and for his support of the UN, it is more like handing over control to them...

"With billions of people living on just dollars a day around the world, global poverty remains one of the greatest challenges and tragedies the international community faces," Obama said. "It must be a priority of American foreign policy to commit to eliminating extreme poverty and ensuring every child has food, shelter, and clean drinking water. As we strive to rebuild America's standing in the world, this important bill will demonstrate our promise and commitment to those in the developing world.
"Our commitment to the global economy must extend beyond trade agreements that are more about increasing profits than about helping workers and small farmers everywhere," he continued.

The bill institutes the United Nations Millennium Summit goals as the benchmarks for U.S. spending.
"It is time the United States makes it a priority of our foreign policy to meet this goal and help those who are struggling day to day," a statement issued by supporters, including Obama, said.

Specifically, it would "declare" that the official U.S. policy is to eliminate global poverty, that the president is "required" to "develop and implement" a strategy to reach that goal and requires that the U.S. efforts be "specific and measurable."
Kincaid said that after cutting through all of the honorable-sounding goals in the plan, the bottom line is that the legislation would mandate the 0.7 percent of the U.S. GNP as "official development assistance."

"In addition to seeking to eradicate poverty, that (U.N.) declaration commits nations to banning 'small arms and light weapons' and ratifying a series of treaties, including the International Criminal Court Treaty, the Kyoto Protocol (global warming treaty), the Convention of Biological Diversity, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women and the Convention of the Rights of the Child," he said.

Those U.N. protocols would make U.S. law on issues ranging from the 2nd Amendment to energy usage and parental rights all subservient to United Nations whims.

No worries though, we will be in good hands..[8|]

I would love to be there, regardless of who takes the oath.

pahunkboy -> RE: Poll: Nearly half hearing too much about Obama (8/7/2008 8:06:27 AM)

Obama teaches constitutional law- at a U.  So- that should make him capable. yet he commented on a supreme court decision.... WLL NOW- maybe there would not ba avtivist judges if there wasnt such sloppy legislation!

As to the "world" - the world isnt to afraid of US attacking.  They know we are out of money.  They quietly are wondering what happens when the monetary system collapses.

They should bring back the ad the bush 1 used.  The little girl who never knew war-  now that same kid would never have known peice.

Now as to hillary. I observed some ladies of my family who age 60ish. They watch with great intesterest in eveyrthing hillary does. BUT same ladies did not vote!!!!!!  So now they want to throw hillary a parade?  What good is that?  That is silly.  Hillary dioesnt even get 2nd place. She gets "honorable mention"- even if you hate her- she clawed her way to the top- or tried...give her credit for being a bitch.  [or if she were a man, ambitious]

But the prez - being that only so much of it -the office -is un-owned by lawyers/lobbiests- then it is  reduced to personality.

Hillary goofed by not runnning in 2004.   That was pre-obama.

I had to laugh over the one slam [per obama that fits.   "we are the people, we have been waiting for" LMAO.  it fits.

back to hill- if this were sex- is would be abvout the shot...get it in and shoot. But woman in general think- foreplay, and not so much in the shot.  so hence a parade?    that can ony lead to a mad lover.....

Thadius -> RE: Poll: Nearly half hearing too much about Obama (8/7/2008 8:16:53 AM)

Just to briefly touch on your point.

I think it is going to be interesting to see how the roll call vote goes down at the convention, hell it wouldn't surprise me to see a backdoor job.  Folks seem to forget that Obama and McCain are only the presumtive nominees, nothing is official until after those votes are certified at the conventions.

It is gonna be fun to watch.

Your rabid feelings towards lawyers are starting to cloud your usually clear-as-spring-water mind [8D] .

Edited, because.

Kittin, don't get me wrong, I have two lawyers that I use for my own business, I just don't like to see them in politics or in public office.
Oh, and my two lawyers are,.....you guessed it,..."brilliant legal scholors" too!

Kittin, JFK Jr wasn't the sharpest knife in the draw (something he shared with his retarded cousin Congressman Patrick "Patches" Kennedy) it took him three times to pass the bar exam!
But, once he did he became,...."a brilliant legal scholor."

Aynne -> RE: Poll: Nearly half hearing too much about Obama (8/8/2008 5:50:11 AM)

You simlpy must come out of the bubble.....don't be afraid, step into the light.  In all seriousness, that really makes you look rather well insensitive when you fail to see the incredibly hard situation so many of your fellow citizens are in. My life is fine, yes, I am blessed I suppose, but even for me this year has been of the most difficult in recent memory. I think you may know, but if not, I am in the custom home building business. I have watched many of my fellow tradespeople close up, along with legions of my subcontractors. No one's phone has been ringing cl, and people cannot afford million dollar plus houses right now.  People are having a hard time paying for fuel and food for gods sake.   Every day in the paper, on the news, sadness prevails. Foreclosures, bankruptcy, layoffs....tell me you don't see or are not aware of this?
