If experience is what is needed  to run a country, then why is america in such a bad situation right now.

And how bad is the situation?

well that is subjective CL, depending on who you ask, a republican, a democrat, a humanist,  a foreigner looking in, a legal immigrant, rich , poor, black white purple or green,  corporations or the people they use to get their profits, people who care about others , people who only care about themselves, any number of opposites will each give you their concerns about the situation in america.

Wishful thinking on your part I fear.  Nothing on this planet can make that chimp look smart.

Only 5 months, 14 days, 20 hours, 11 minutes and 22 seconds to go!

That being the case, you must be a McCain man

Does anyone else plan to be in Washington in January to hear an American President deliver a speech in complete sentences.....I know of at least 2 people here I would be very interested in attending that occasion with!!!

Sorry sanity,if I can pull it off it will be an Obama inaugral address i take my son to hear....not McCain stumbling thru a speech, soaring oratory and high minded ideals will be the tone of the day...even if that offends some on these boards

Thadius -> RE: Poll: Nearly half hearing too much about Obama (8/8/2008 10:33:43 AM)

We started playing a new drinking game... everytime Obama says "uh" you take a drink.  It makes for a quick buzz. [8D]

kittinSol -> RE: Poll: Nearly half hearing too much about Obama (8/8/2008 11:08:25 AM)

There is a similar game, kind of, in reverse. Every time McCain says 'Obama' (and it's often), you have to take a swig of Kool Aid.

lol

Or how about this one - every time someone complains (in a political thread) about people talking politics you hit yourself smack on your own forehead and say, "how tragically ironic"

If we are inflicted with the tragedy of an Obama Presidency, you'll get some wonderfully soaring oratory.  High minded ideals, however, will have to wait for another election.  Obama's pessimism doesn't qualify as high-minded anything.

Talk about pessimism ,Jesus,...that`s dark.

Not sure if anyone noticed, but this is a hit on the media, not Obama.

He`s doing what he does best.He can`t control the media(in spite of what paranoids think) and is staying on message.

He can`t help it if he looks and sounds good. It`s the shallow people(left/right and middle) that have been obsessiong with his persona and not what he`s saying.Including Sen. McParis.

His message is what bothers me the most.

His message is people are helpless, people are powerless, people are victims, and that government is always the solution and never the problem.

His message is one that denigrates the individual and attributes human worth solely to membership in this or that larger grouping.

His message is thinly disguised, eloquently phrased, glittered-up, gussied-up, socialist stupidity.

His message is wrong.

No, I did not.

That's it in a nutshell.

That's Obama. That's Socialism.

However much he moves towards center doesn't matter at this point, one can read his book and listen to especially his old speeches, and look at who his friends are and clearly see him for what he is.

The news media has turned him into a Rock Star....If they would just report the news and quit telling how we are suppose to think it would be a helleva lot better.

Indeed, the media has much to answer for in the creation of Obamamania.  However, only Obama himself is answerable for his willingness to play Rock Star Politician.  When his star turn is done, only then is he likely to learn that glitz is no substitute for gravitas when wearing the mantle of leadership.
