FaF .. I dont think anyone was being judgemental about either scene. Someone thought that missturbation might have been unfair in her description because we all know she is a total loony and the only good play is play involving eels and nine inch nails (not the band). I was there , I watched, I thought her description was very fair.

1 = cute, giggling, loud brat getting her ass tanned for her amusement (and presumably her Doms - her giggling was drowning out anything he might have been saying lol) ... perfectly nice scene, one that all of us have enjoyed in the past. It did exactly what it said on the tin, what you saw was what you got.
2 = heavier, more violent, brutal even in places, it took a lot more careful observation to see what the interplay was between the two, because they seemed very distant from eachother, but when you saw it, you could see how strongly they were connected.

What I found intersting to observe about it was that in both scenes, both parties were getting what they wanted from the play. However in the first scene it was very obviously the bottom who was getting their rocks off, in the second more obviously the Top. Presumably the Top from scene 1 and the bottom from scene 2 would have been getting their rocks off also or there wouldn't have been such post play bliss evident in both couples.

Am not having a go FaF (welcome to the boards by the way) ... I just think the thread is an interesting one, because loads of people attend clubs to watch as well as play, and its interesting to read about what other people enjoy watching

If I were watching, which is a fairly small percentage of time, I'd be far more interested in the second.  I admire skill and the beauty of that alone is well worth the viewing.  With a good connection on top of it, I'm sure I'd enjoy observing even more.

Of course, I am a bit biased.  My own style tends to favor the second example.

For those who think i was being judgemental of scene one. I did try hard to not be. I tried to describe the scenes exactly as *i* saw them, technically more than anything. I did not want to flower scene two up, i did not want to put scene one down. Yes what *i* saw may not have been what others saw but i know of two people who agreed with me.
 
It really is a shame you missed being able to watch scene two softness as it was definately hot, hot, hot.
I'm thinking watching the top involved beat two girls side by side would be fantastic too. How fascinating would it be to watch the two girls comfort each other, support each other whilst going through a brutal beating - yummy

Status: offline 		I have to say, maybe both and maybe neither. Too many factors that would affect my decision at the moment. Factors that no one can determine but me.

So, there was more energy and intensity between the people in #2. Would it be an energy that I would feel positively about or would it be a negative or vampiric energy, to me?

Would I be in the mood for fluff or a more energy draining intensity?

Would I want to watch #1 and drift off into my own little happy place of beating both of them for being clueless?

As someone else said, which one was having more fun and am I more in the mood for something fun rather than, all deeply intense and oh so dramatically meaningful?

There is just no way at all for me to answer this question based upon someone else's description of the situation. Especially without knowing how well those, very personal, descriptives mesh with my own. I would have to be there to determine what I would want to do.

Status: offline 		second scene would be much more interesting to me... but I watch it all -- I rediscovered the joys of really being a voyeur this past weekend at the club... it was the first time in years I'd gone out with no intention of playing, just enjoying the date I had...

and we watched and chatted.. and smiled and talked.. but we watched everything and I had a wonderful time...

watching is great.. there's always something to see

I wouldn't be embarrassed for them. I would be proud of a couple that makes the attempt to share a scene publicly. The effort is there. Maybe they are hoping that by showing that they know so little, that others will offer advice as to "how to do it". I don't know. I think I would be tempted to grab my own flogger and wail on the "bratty sub", just to get the smile off her face lol I have always had a thing about brats. I want to hurt them lol not funny, yet true.

So watching the first scene would make me very uncomfortable in the sense that I would want to take over lol

Watching the second scene..I would admire the beauty of it, but I don't think I would get off as much by watching that one.

I agree with those who said they would rather be having their own scene than to watch.

Status: offline 		Since I rarely get to be in the place of voyuer, I'd enjoy watching the second scene.

After coming back from Thunder in the Mountains in Denver, I was able to be a voyuer in a 30,000 sq.ft. dungeon and I was blessed to see the majority of the scenes be fabulous connections - I don't think I blinked for hours!

So... what if the sub wasn't being bratty, what if she was just enjoying herself? What if they were just new, and learning together? People tell all the newbies to "Get off the computer! Go find your local BDSM community!!" Yet when they do, they are met by sneering oldies, making fun of their lack of experience.

Way to go.

i've never seen a scene like the first one you describe. But i have seen a scene like the second. Actually until her skin was cut and bleeding. It was sadistic topping like no other i had ever seen. But you know what? The connection between the two of them was 100%.
I felt priviledged to have been watching the interaction between a dominant and a no-limits slave and a 'pain-pig' as he desribed her at that.
Maybe i am a voyeur................

Before I got to your last paragraph, I was thinking "is this a trick question?  Who wouldn't choose the second scene?"  But then I started thinking about clubs and who watches what, and while my answer doesn't change, I can start to develop theories about unmentioned factors that could draw some to the first scene.  For example, were the players more conventionally attractive?  (There's a certain type of guy who frequents public clubs who will always be watching the scene with the most nudity, or the most women, or the cutest sub.)  Were they playing to the audience more (I've noticed that with bratting sometimes... they are looking for a reaction from the audience as well as their partner, putting on a comedy show), which could be more open/inviting than the pair with the deeper connection (who were probably focussed more on each other, thus excluding the audience to some degree)?

neither would appeal to me, but then scening is not a part of my life so isn't something i can relate to very well. but if i were watching something purely for observational/educational/slight entertainment purposes, i'd rather see a Dominant and submissive engage in something very intense, something which was clearly not intended for the pleasure of the submissive and showed her dedication to service and acceptance of her place.

with tops and bottoms it's all just about the physical, no one is surrendering, the control is in the hands of the bottom...it's just not something that makes sense to me at all. but likewise a bratty submissive or a so-called Dominant who is unsure of himself and does things only for show makes no sense to me either.

Someone pissed on your cheerios today?
I don't think anyone especially me is sneering at the first scene couple. Each to their own type of play!
However i am saying i cannot believe people were glaring at the second scene couple for playing hard. Surely that is just as bad as people sneering at scene ones couple, yet i don't see you defending them.
The oldies comment, well all i can say is grow up.

Status: offline 		i've found at cluns there are two kings of people (there's more than two but for this discussion i'm using two).

There are those who play for themselves and those who play for the audience.  I'm not even going to guess which type those involved in the two scenes were, but let's suppose they were each playing for themselves.  They played because they each got something out of it. 

Just because you couldn't see the 'connection' between the first couple, doesn't mean it wasn't there for them.  And likewise, just because you saw the connection with the second couple, doesn't mean it was there for them.  Maybe all those who were watching the first couple felt a connection that was invisible to you...

Out of curiosity, i see you've referred to the first couple as 'Dom and sub' and the second couple as 'top and bottom', why the difference?  Do you know either of the couples?

I'd probably go outside of the playspace and find someone interesting to chat with. If we banned all the impact toys from bdsm the herd would thin really quick.

Status: offline 		Neither one sounds very interesting to me, although it's not quite clear what's really happening in the second one. The first is simply bogus, phony play, and that doesn't appeal to me at all. The second sounds like a sadist and a masochist, although it's hard to tell without more detail. That doesn't appeal to me either, the skilled top dishing out exactly what the experienced bottom wants. There might be more going on that would make the second interesting, but if it's just one person dishing out pain and the other willingly taking it, then it does nothing for me.
