I forget the particulars myself. I believe the burning lasts about 20 minutes. I suggest using the search function at the upper right hand corner of the screen - type in 'ginger' and you will get tons of information.

I've read about "figging". I know that , from what I have read, it is safe to use in the anus, but not so safe to use in the vaginal area. It causes irritation the the vagina that can cause lingering problems. Because the vagina is much more sensitive, I guess... I have never actually tried either orafice with ginger, but, I would love to try it out in the ass... I'm not even brave enough to try it in my pussy after reading that.... it's just not worth it to me.....

If you're looking to do something to her that you won't try on yourself, and seeking an excuse to 'punish' her in this manner, then I don't think this relationship has much chance of success. Punishment should be the last resort, not the first. Try something novel and unusual - communication.

I can try a bee sting and it just annoys me but it will kill some people and if they try it they will tell everyone it is lethal, well they would if they didn't die.

Ginger is fun, I got "forced" into using it on someone and trust me, it is fun. She felt the burn for a while afterwards but it wasn't really long lasting. I know if I did it to my ex she might not end up with chemical burns but it would be close.

Back to topic:
Just as SimplyMichael said, the effects vary. To some, it's like that motion lotion that heats up when you blow on it, for others it's like a blowtorch. Generally speaking though, the burning sensation lasts for under 30 minutes and will usually subside when the ginger is removed.
If you want to use it on her clit/inner labia area, you can notch out a shallow chuck out of a finger of ginger and made it sort of like a canoe. That way, you can fit it right over the tender bits and keep the whole "canoe" in place with the outer lips.

I love ginger!

Ah, I know a little about Figging, mainly because Sir takes a very special interest in it.

Apparently if you stick the piece of ginger root within her ass, the squeezing can make the juice leak out. The juice stings but once the ginger root is removed, the stinging stops.

I agree with Michael. Well, at least the OP is seeing out feedback based on personal experiences to glean more information. Perhaps he is keeping this sort of thing in mind in case the subject of punishment comes up in the relationship? I would suggest, being that I am a nut about being privy to one's food allergies, to rub a bit on the inside of the elbow to determine if there is a real sensitivity or reaction to ginger. While I haven't heard of anyone in my circle of friends and loved ones that is allergic, it's possible. I'm allergic to some types of citrus fruit but not others. Aggravating.

The burning usually lasts about 20 minutes - and the intensity can vary based on how ripe or old the root is.
