Well if thats what keeps happening then so be it, proves my point about the this site being a less than perfect tool for the lifestyle in regards to freedom of speech, manners and having an opinion differnet to the clique which seem to preside here. As soon as they hear something that they dont agree with, from someone they dont know it becomes a personal insult barage.

If newbies, who will obviously be interested in this kind of article, read this and listen to the clique on here.................well the rest goes unsaid. Guess I will be back in another 24 hours unless they pull the profile.

You seem to not understand what "freedom of speech" really means and how it pertains to a private website.  And not having a profile doesn't keep you from posting.

Ah yes, the good ol days when women glowed and men thundered....

As near as I can tell, it's a fiction.  There isn't now nor has there ever been a BDSM community.

I'm definitely with you on this.  Kinkyfolk aren't a community except in the "community of interest" sense.

I'll add one more point... in my viewing of what passes for a real life BDSM "community", for the most part, what I see (and hear from others) is a fractious lot, overwhelmed with politicial infighting and petty politics.

I'm definitely not with you on this.  My local BDSM community is absolutely wonderful.  There's always some petty or political stuff in any structured group of humans, but it's pretty minimal here.  It could be because we're a lot of small and medium-sized groups that cooperate rather than compete.  Many folks are members of more than one group.  I belong to two groups and am an honorary member of another.  If someone here feels that there's a constituency that's not being served or that they have a better idea for running a group, they're welcome - even encouraged - to start one up.  They get a lot of support from the local community.  If there is a need and/or they do have a better idea, they'll likely develop a following and be around for a while.  If there isn't, they won't.

The community as a whole here is pretty pansexual.  There are a lot of special-interest and specific orientation groups, but big parties and events draw a diverse crowd.  There's a club here that focuses on kinky education and pulls in presenters from around the country, including some of the folks you're reading on Amazon, as well as taking advantage of the considerable experience and talent within our community.  I can't think of a time when the presenter's stage was used to "score with hot young subs".  The folks who present already have a good deal of credibility in the community or they wouldn't be presenting.

I'd like to think that there are a lot of good communities out there, but the more I hear about people's impressions of other communities, the happier I am to be here in MN.

I think you are not fully understanding the protections provided by the First Amendment.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

Rules on a website have nothing to do with the First Amendment or "freedom of speech".

And with that, this is closed.
