Senator Barack Obama's long lost brother has been tracked down for the first time living in a shanty town in Kenya, reports claimed.

Mr Obama, 26, the youngest of the presidential candidate's half-brothers, spoke for the first time about his life, which could not be more different than that of the Democratic contender.

"No-one knows who I am," he told the magazine, before claiming: "I live here on less than a dollar a month."

I wonder if that $1 is pre or post tax?

Saw this article this morning and thought the prospect of an Obama Presidency mirroring Carter's staggering!
quote:

"Huruma is a tough place, last January during the elections there was rioting and six people were hacked to death. The police don't even arrest you they just shoot you.
"I have seen two of my friends killed. I have scars from defending myself with my fists. I am good with my fists."
I think beer companies are already jostling for position for the poster boy. Except, based upon Senator Obama's self disclosed past, it may be as the spokesperson for a nationwide ad campaign for legalization of marijuana or cocaine.

Legalize and tax! Close the deficient gap!

It's a devious attempt at driving the nail in that Obama is a foreigner and not worthy of a US presidency. And an African one too. The horror.

No, they slammed Kerry and Gore.   They were not from  Africa.

Well, this story's about Obama, not Kerry or Gore, but I see your point: the right will always find a way to demonise its opponents with the least relevant matters, playing up to the gallery and to the basest sentiments of the electorate. Incidentally, the article linked comes from The Daily Telegraph, a notoriously conservative British rag. It's not for nothing.

Yeah, I'm sure everyone here would ignore it if it were McCain's long lost son or daughter, found in Vietnam

The dems could run George Washington, and the right would claim him to be a poor, unworthy choice.

One day, I hope we get a collective memory....  I dont think the dems are holy and above scandal, but I do think- we need to change direction of the country.  The ruling class will stop at nothing to keep looting the public til.

and as I get older- a wolf in sheeps clothing, is  still a foe.

slice it any way you want... it is mindboggling that ANYONE would be so better off now then x years ago.

...everyone has to pay for the collective cheesecake... and folks need to take only one peice of cheesecake per person.     burp. :-)

This will put to rest the loon-bucket`s putrid assertion that his name is "Barry Soetoro".

Won`t it?

That would be - $29, - $59,   As funds had and "available" funds are 2 separate things and once it triggars then costly bank fees will kick in.  After a batch of these "fees" Im sure the ole chap will flee back to his homeland....   glunk.

Really, it's a human interest story. I didn't even attach an opinion to it when I posted it but of course it was instantly another vast right-wing conspiracy... has to be!!!

Why isn't anyone talking about how great it is that they found Obama's long-lost half brother?

I don't believe for one instant that you really think posters on these boards would be that naive.

If we're going to start attributing conspiracy theories to this why not pin it on those damn Europeans. They're the ones who claim to have found him, it was an Italian newspaper, in fact.

Yep, those damn Europeans... still meddling with elections in their former colonies, after all these years.

Wow - reality and facts are now considered "demonetizing its opponents". Vanity Fair, from Italy, is now considered a US right wing source. Africa or Georgia blood is blood, and there was no negative associated with the reference. Was race the perspective you took when reading the article?

This is going to be a FUN campaign watching both sides squirm as more of these type facts come to the surface!

Actually, when someone has a rabidly anti-Democrat record on the boards and posts the kind of inane nonsense that makes the subject of this thread, without further comment, from a source such as the Daily T., yep, it's called demonising. It's been going on for months, just in case you haven't noticed (oh, sorry, you have: you've been playing that game yourself ).

I too look forward to this campaign: it's hugely entertaining how people are getting riled up over nothing, just because the media tells them to, furthering the ignorance of serious issues (there's an economic meltdown out there, for example: but let's talk about Obama's brother, and ignore that Junky McCain conveniently forgot about her half-sister two days ago on the radio ).

Here it comes, we're supposed  to feel "sorry" for him and the people of his country because they're "poor."
Obama made the statement that he wants to "double foreign aid."
