I have found that tilting at windmills will tire your horse out and have you singing show tunes in an Anthony Quinn voice! (True story from personal experience. It wasn't pretty!)

Don't forget faery that it's only been within the past 5-10 years that cyber stalking and cyber abuse is being taken seriously and something is being done to prevent this. So until the day arrives where it is taken seriously like other crimes, it seems to fall upon us to voice our displeasure at the incidents such as the OP posted. Yet maybe we should try to do so without letting our own visceral emotions cloud our sensibilities. And yes, I fully admit that I am guilty of that also.

Okay, since bear brought us back on topic ...

I NEVER meant to support REAL abuse. No way. I am saying that mere words on a screen, until they become actions, are harmless.

What ever happened to freedom of speech in this counrty? I should be ALLOWED to say just about anything I want. If it offends you, I'm sorry but, if words really injur you, maybe your skin is a bit thin?

Words ONLY hurt you if you ALLOW them to.

Speaking quite frankly; there's only a handful of people in my life whose words can "hurt" me and that's because their opinion is important.

Bear, if I can use you as an example? If Bear cussed me up one side and down the other, it wouldn't matter! our "relationship" is one of words on a screen and while I enjoy banter with him, his opinion has no impact on my life.

As I stated, earlier, there are a few people where the converse is true but, I've had Domme types, on here, try to "spank me" in a post. So what? Geez-oh-Pete's! They're words!

(Bear brought us back on topic? Wow! Things really have changed! LOL!)

Well if you ever heard me sing, you'd quickly grab a shotgun , fire and shoot thereby putting me outta my misery!

I don't condone physical violence either and do admit to being a passivist. In my mindset, it's the reality of physical violence which I don't condone and the cyber word slinging and the cyber taunts and jeers are easily shrugged off. As it's pointed out, it's easier and simpler to turn off this idiot machine if and when a person text yells or text slaps me.

So... why not ask a question that is more appropriate or applicable... like

" why do some individuals lecture others for making comments, asking questions or admitting to mistakes?"

oh and answer is...

That really depends on the specific individuals involved and the situation... I don't think there is a universal answer to the question. In the given situation that you felt lectured.. did you tell the individual? Did you ask them why they had to go into lecture mode? Did they share you opinion that they where lecturing you? Did you ask for their opinion? Did they just choose to share it? Why did you choose to make you comments in the first place?

So many questions......

Read the OP again faery. He hit her in real life, in the flesh. He talked about it (typed about it) in a chat room and felt disrespected. That is his complaint, that he didn't get respect in a chat room for hitting someone 2 years ago in real life.
