Hello Bob,

I collect female "action figures" and I have the first really cool one
of Hermione, one from the first movie, very cool out-fit.

I haven't read any of the book's or seen the movies, my son has though,
one of these days maybe MsN and I will find the time to watch the movies.
Are the books as good as the
stories of Mr. Baggins, I haven't seen those movies either, but was very much
into the trilogy books as a teenager(didn't want to ruin my mind's visuals).

My Most Favorite Books as a short person, was "The Boxcar Children" does anyone remember those?

Oh, I remember those, as well as my mother's old Nancy Drew series. I really miss thos, I think I'll have to look or the set on Ebay...lol

What about The Babysitters Club? Or the Hardy Boys?

Oh my God...I loved those books when I was young. I can't wait to read them with my little one who's turning five. Memories!!!!!!

Status: offline 		I'm all caught up on my Dean Koontz books. In fact I'm waiting for the sequel to "Odd Thomas" to get here, so I can start reading it. I am also an avid reader of Stephen King. I have some Anne Rice under my belt with a few other authers. I love to curl up with a good book.

Status: offline 		I'm reading American Gods by Neil Gaiman a gift from a student who thought I'd enjoy the Myth references. I've just finished the first chapter, which, from my Domme p.o.v., ends with this very hot four page scene. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to the rest of the book.

I just got that book the other day, but I haven't started it yet. I've been wanting to read it since I read a review about year ago. The hot Domme scene is news to me...I guess I need to get going on it

Status: offline 		The library trip was wildly successful----the newish Peter Straub, the new Iain M Banks, two fat story collections.......

I enjoyed American Gods, and the semi-sequel, Anansi Boys----Gaiman tells very interesting, fast moving stories. Not the stick to your brain kind, but great fun!

Status: offline 		i tried for years to read "Anna Karinerina" but could not. i guess the classics will continue to be a blind spot for me. i cannot understand why such dense and plodding langiage is treasured by English teachers.

Status: offline 		With the Russians a good translator is essential. Much of classical Russian literature depends on your understanding the class structure, the modes of speech, and the history.

FWIW, I am a mad fan of Dostoevsky, but Tolstoy is not my thing at all. Gogol is a hoot!

When I was in high school, I took a class called "Russian History Through Its Literature". Wonderful until we got to the intensely ghastly Dr Zhivago. I only scanned it, but thank heavens aced the test anyway.

Status: offline 		I am currently reading "The Sorceress of Darshiva" by David Eddings. I always have a few other books on the backburner though.

Oh, and Tine, you rock. Fellow Hoosiers are always good to see around the boards. Anyway, Good Omens is a great book! I'm a huge Neil Gaiman fan. (I'm a total Sandman nerd). Hitchhiker's Guide is awesome, too. Make sure you get the whole series though.

I didn't care for the marketplace I read book one and it was really kind of eh ish for me, I did however like some of the referances to objectification tho. I loaned the copy to someone I considered a friend and when she flaked out on the friendship and disapered she never gave me my bookback, And I had bought it at the SM oddesy weekend my very first ever attending.

Status: offline 		JW I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVED Nancy drew when I was a kid, I also too almost practically lived at the library I would always walk down or bike down fill a back pack a pocket and some grocery sacks with like 70 books at a time or more and waddle home with my treasures

Status: offline 		I've just about finished Wolfskin by Juliet Marillier, I have the sequel Foxmask waiting in the wings as well as Diana Gabaldon's latest in the Outlander series.

Has anyone read the Kushiel books by Jacqueline Carey? They are fantasy novels, with lots of plot detail, but the interesting thing is the main character is an anguisette who feels pain as pleasure. There are some very interesting scenes in these books!

I've always been a reader. I also worked as a volunteer librarian in a primary school and it was interesting to see what the kids read. I have nothing against kids reading things like Babysitters Club, Goosebumps or Nancy Drew.....some of those kids graduated to Harry Potter and Roald Dahl books in a couple of years! So long as they're reading, they're learning.

I loved the Famous Five and Secret Seven, animal stories like White Fang, Black Beauty and My Friend Flicka, I even read my dad's old Western novels
