HAHAHAHA!  Touche!  And yes, I have issue with a few words.  You found one of them, that no matter how many times I attempt to spell them, no matter how often I look them up, I still manage to screw the word up every time.  You have no idea how long it took for me to finally get myself to spell the word 'definitely' correctly. [;)]

I, of course, have perfect spelling and never make mistakes. 

Since I assume all others are weaker-willed than I against the demons of English, I have mercy upon the less typographically blessed.

If they're particularly bad, I will try to meet them halfway.  I write, 'ur ssoooo hot. wan 2 be m7 slave??'  I get good results with that, you should try it.

One of the things that first attracted me to Sir was His quirky spelling on the message boards of Literotica [:D]  However there is a quick intelligent mind behind the bad spelling which stood out. 

I am the first person to work out that He is dyslexic.  All through His schooling, which took place in the late 1950s and 60s, He was told He had to try harder and could do better.  Pretty hard to do when your brain keeps scrambling things up [8|] 

So now I keep an open mind when I see words spelled wrong.  However I do agree that the use of "txt spk" is lazy and makes a person seem immature.

Typos happen. But horrible spelling/grammar/using chat speak turns me off in talking to ANYONE. Has nothing to do with collarme, it's my stance across the whole net.

Spelling in a profile is one thing, and pretty much all of us use incorrect grammar every day. I think that its more about the style of writing and whats said thats important, I am dyslexic and have always been told that I have fantastic ideas but dont write them down very well, therefore I wouldnt penalise someone else for the same thing, I do agree however that text speak is just annoying and lazy. I am not a 'grammar nazi' though seems a bit of a pointless reason to exclude people from your life.

I fall more on the side of grammar nazi, especially in profiles. When posting comments or "talking" online, I can understand the quickly written response that is not gramatically perfect or contains typos. But, in a profile, part of what I am looking for is intelligence and good communication skills. Poorly written introductions, especially without capitalization, are a turn-off, as are arrogance and profanity.

I have no issues with the occasional typograghical error, but what really annoys me are abbreviations such as "UR" for "you are", "U" instead of "you", etc.  Seriously people, take time to type out the damn words, please.....oh yeah, and gratuitous cursing in a post or profile is an immediate and complete turn-off.

Yea I can agree with not like "UR", it doesn't take that long to type out "you are".

Not sure what you have against 'collard'....if cooked right, they can be very tasty.

Do other submissives feel as I do that a Domme whose profile is replete with spelling errors and/or grammatical mistakes doesn't warrant my interest?  What amuses me most are profiles that contain mistakes but warn that poor writing will count against the respondent.  In this age of spell checkers and the like, is there any excuse?  For me, poor spelling or grammar detracts from my ability to fully respect, let alone submit, to the writer.

Do any others concur or do you think my attitude is nothing but a symptom of OCD or an attempt to top from the bottom and that attitude trumps appropriate writing anytime.

Since I do most of my initial contacts with dominants at munches and events, their spelling abilities haven't, usually, been at issue in regard to my attraction level. I'm curious as to how you would react if you met someone at a munch or event with whom you had a real chemistry and found out later they were an atrocious speller?

I am OK with an occasional error in spelling or grammar. If I see that it is happening in every single sentence, then I am less forgiving. I am the same with people in person. If they mispronounce a word or two here and there I tend to find it amusing. But there is a point where it stops being amusing and becomes annoying.

Intelligence is a huge turn-on to me, but I do not expect perfection. We are all human. I am not perfect and therefore I don't expect anyone I am with to be perfect either. But when it gets to a point where instead of focusing on what is being said I am focusing on the spelling and grammar mistakes, then there is an issue.

It surprises me that in a medium that is so clearly verbal, there come to be so many who can barely express themselves verbally.  A simple typo or mispelling won't spell doom, but making no effort at all to string together a well-communicated sentiment is a problem.  Illiteracy is a hard limit.  For an adult native-English speaker who is not otherwise learning disabled, I expect at least an attempt at effective communication.  Anything less doesn't show me much respect.  Worse than not making the effort at correct grammar and spelling, however, is having nothing compelling to say at all.

Just one other point I wanted to make. A learning disability isn't the only reason someone may have issues with spelling or grammar. My brother has cerebal palsy and is a spastic quadriplegic. He types with a stick attached to a headband but he's as bright as they come and could probably kick ass on 90% of the members of collarme in chess. His spelling and grammar are horrible because it's painstaking for him to type. You won't see him capitalize letters or backspace to correct the errors he knows he's making.

Just something to keep in mind when skills appear to be poor in that area. No one knows who sits at the other end of the superhighway or what challenges they may be facing.

Spelling and grammar errors aren't enough for me to discount someone, it depends on the content of the message.
