Status: offline 		These days I seem to find myself in an ever-shrinking group in my prefered approach to this lifestyle.  I like to think of myself as a modern day aristrocrat, I love fine-wines, opera, violin, fencing, poetry - etc. etc.  The "finer" things in life as it were and I prefer my pets to know the beauty located there within as well.  I wouldn't consider myself involved in the gothic lifestyle however, I don't wear dark makeup or particualiry prefer moody music/poetry. 

Alright, so enough of an intro, what I am here to ask is if there are any others who find themselves having a view to this lifestyle similar to mine?

how about finding subs that are INTO the 'arts'?

There are plenty that are.

The very ones you may clikc with the best may be put off by the (excuse me, but this is how it comes off as, to me) arrogant attitude that you are somehow better than them because you want to HELP THEM DISCOVER..

Status: offline 		A fair point - There are those out there whom are into the arts - alas I am finding it rarer and rarer to actually come across them when I am in my searches for a good pet.

However, you did misread my post some, though I suppose I could have worded it correctly, I meant by the "discover" comment that I prefer pets who enjoy the finer things of life.

When all is said and done though, the rain in Spain still does fall mainly on the plain.

(though I am going to edit the post to avoid further misconceptions by my poor wording.)

Status: offline 		There are a great number of people that are interested in the arts and finer things in life. Unfortunately most of us were not given an aristocratic income with which to spend our free time hobnobbing about being artistic and sipping fine cognac.

Status: offline 		Come now, money and wealth are no real obstacle to these things nowadays, one can download opera music on mp3s with ease, champange (albeit not the highest quality) isn't prohibitively expensives, and finer clothing and finer food is just a matter of doing work.  I come from a lower-middle class family (yes, my folks were always confused where I got my tastes) and I am a student - the lifestyle doesn't require wealth, just... effort.

Status: offline 		Pretty much. Finer? No.  More fun? For some yes, not so much for me - well... okay rock concerts and fiddles do appeal.  Yet, more often than not, and perhaps its just because I'm stuck in Cali, I find so many people grimace and shy away from listening to opera or attending a fencing match.  So many people tend to find it dull and boring, I am not meaning to call people uncivilized or anything of that nature that wasn't what I meant to infer at all - I am just curious where are those out there who enjoy these things and aren't bored to tears by them.

Status: offline 		I actually enjoy all of the things you mentioned in your original post, but my tastes also venture into the not so refined palate.  Even fencing has made moves to make the sport more interesting, such as the new phenom as sabre.  Limiting one's tastes to such a narrow menu, tends to dull the tongue and does not allow for comparison or even expanding of the pleasure one can receive from the flavor of a finer product.

So see,  somehow I managed to figure out that there was more to this great big wonderful world than tuna casserole and Koolaide.

If you saw my CD collection, my closet, my jewelry dresser, or everyone I call friend, lined up you would assume it was a collection taken from a dozen different homes/people of various backgrounds and income levels.

What I was alluding to, that seems to have gone over your aristocratic head, is that there are those of us that can appreciate and enjoy "the finer things in life" and can also enjoy the rolicking good times of the less than "fine". We also have found that there is alot of freedom in not being arisotcratic and just living life "being".

FYI........next time you want to pretend to be an aristocrat you might want to make sure you spell champagne correctly.

Status: offline 		Of course there are kinky people who share your tastes in entertainment.  However, not all kinky people believe that their tastes in music and food exalt them beyond the rest of humanity.  So you'd rather listen to Figaro make measurements for a bed, instead of why some brother's anaconda doesn't care for Jane Fonda cuz she's got no motor in the back of her Honda.  Ok fine.  I'd rather take a compassionate flygirl to the ballet than I would a snooty pianist.

Status: offline 		I fenced when I was in college the first time, it was great fun, and a different way of moving, so it was challenging to do.  And you get cool bruises when you get hit.

Status: offline 		Well I thinkI  have long passed the age of trying to look like something.  My tastes vary as do the tastes of my friends and lovers.  My previous relationship which lasted for 14 years was based on a lot of common interests and a lot of interests that are different.  She is a vegetarian and I'm not -- about the biggest food difference I can think of.  We didn't find that to be a problem at all in our relationship however.  She loved to have boundaries set and could take one heck of a spanking.

As to my personal preferences, mine vary.  I love Italian shirts and have quite a few.  I also have t-shirts from Old Navy.  I have 7 jeans and Levi's from walmart.  I love beef carpachio from this little Tapas place here and also love this little hole-in-the-wall burger joint that sells the tastiest, greasiest burger for $1.50 you can imagine.  I love my Volvo wagon even though 23 years old (and runs like a top).  As to the arts, I started a performing experimental music group here and it has absolutely no sophistication.  I also travel to NY (where I lived for a while) to visit friends and try to attend some of the openings at the galleries they own.  There is an "art" scene here where people go from gallery to gallery and drink wine while they talk about how sophisticated they are for doing so -- I don't care so much for that scene at all.

I grew up in a commercial based city and that was common to me.  I dated a girl who grew up on a farm.  One of my favorite memories with her was attending a boucherie (hog killing) where they made cracklings and hogs head cheese while the butchered the beast.  I like relationships where where we both offer new experiences to each other.  I don't find one better than the other.

Crap.  I just had tuna casserole for lunch.  What does that make me???  I thought I'd come so far ...

OP - different strokes for different folks.  Opera is no better than Linkin Park.  It just so happens I enjoy both.  I read romance novels along with Dickens.  Go figure.  Eclectic tastes make for more interesting people, imo.

Status: offline 		Well, I love tuna casserole and I have Kool Aid in my fridge right now...and I live alone.  My dad drank Rolling Rock.  I also love going to the symphony, art galleries, museums and the theatre, but I prefer Hershey's chocolate to Godiva.  I decorate my house with what I like, not how some decorator thinks I should.  I dress for comfort, not for fashion, but I like to look good.  Frankly, I don't like the taste of champagne, and some of my favorite wine is $9.00 a bottle.  It wins medals at competitions all over the world, too.  (Breitenbach's "Frostfire" if anyone's curious.  It's a little winery in Ohio.)

Basically, I like what I like, not because it's "aristocratic" but simply because I like it.  But I can't quite get the red out of my neck, either.  And I like me that way.  Unfortunately, there are a lot of people in aristocrat world who I would rather not be around.  Kind of like church.
