I thought I would formally ask this. Right now, I have to get ready for work soon so I can't give my whole plan. However I am also interested in what others would do.
I can give a brief synopsis though. And maybe that is better so the post doesn't become 900 paragraphs. The thing is to remember just what the President can and cannot do. That may be difficult because things have changed.
1. I would cut foreign aid in half, to all countries that recieve it. That includes Israel and alot of congressmen and senators will fight agaist it, but I would then take it to the public. I would say "We are doling out $XXX billion dollars in foreign aid. We need to tighten our belts, the debt is getting too high". We would save alot of money and if public pressure didn't look like it was going to work, I would threaten to ban all foreign aid by executive order. Either take half or get nothing. The ratio of who gets what would remain the same.
2. As long as they are willing to accept only certain geographical locations in the US, any company that had moved offshore would be invited back tax free and with relaxed environmental regulation. Remember this is only in certain areas. There would be no corporate taxes, working people's taxes would of course be remitted and more working people stimulates the economy in the right way. A thousand dollar check means nothing, especially when it comes out of the taxpayers' pockets. No subsidies however. They will pay to build their factories.
There is hell of alot to this. I would probably put Ron Paul on the supreme court if given the chance, but only if there are enough opponents there to keep him still on the abortion issue. I would factor in their ages as well as his. We don't need anti abortionists on the supreme court in the majority. We have enough of a mess now. We must be realists.
What would YOU do ? Opinions are like ass holes, everybody has one. Everybody also has their own focus, and decides which issues are most important to them. I say that my main focus would be on the economy and getting back some jobs for the ex-middle class. Poverty causes a bunch of additional social ills which are not easily solved. That is why I would focus on it.
But then some others may percieve other evils as greater.
