I keep hearing that line. "fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy ride"

I just LOVE IT!!!

So much drama, so many armchair experts, so much venom being spewed. It beats the hell out of drama tv.

Completely political,though.

Of course it was political.  They're politicians.  All of them.  Dems and Republicans.

Oh no no no

Obama (or fill in the blank with any politician) is a god.[8|]

You too, will learn this.[&:]

God I hope you're kidding.
It's reading stuff like this that makes me very nervous.

Thadius -> RE: Rumors suggest McCain has picked his running mate (8/29/2008 8:52:47 AM)

A very interesting choice.  She is a young, intelligent, and tough woman with an emphasis on ethics and openness in government.  She has left a pile of bodies in her wake while cleaning up the state of Alaska.  She is uniquely suited to the discussion of safe oil drilling as she was a regulator in her home state.

Time will tell how this pick works.  The Obama response is already out, and they actually mention her inexperience and then try to connect her to Bush policies too.

This cycle just got alot more interesting.

Well... the fact that you called me gorgeous makes it all ok.  [:D]

cyberdude611 -> RE: Rumors suggest McCain has picked his running mate (8/29/2008 9:10:07 AM)

Wow....Obama may have just screwed up again. Their knee jerk reaction just insulted small-town America again.

Obama campaign said Palin isnt a good pick for McCain because all she was is "a mayor of small town of 9,000 people." And the media is running with this as an attack on small-town voters and against middle America. This was a very bad response to this because they totally refused to even mention she is the governor of Alaska. She has more executive experience than Obama.

Seems Obama campaign is caught off-guard. Their ammo was obviously aimed at the other VP candidates. Now they are scrambling to react to this one.

bipolarber -> RE: Rumors suggest McCain has picked his running mate (8/29/2008 9:18:41 AM)

Hummm... I take it she's the replacement for the original Governor, who's trial is coming up for corruption?

She is an interesting choice. On the plus side, she'll attract a lot of the republican women...

On the downside for McCain, this pretty much undercuts his BS argument about Obama being unqualified due to his youth, and his inexperience. To choose a running mate who has virtualy NO experience at all in Foreign Affairs, and virtually nothing in but a year or two of being governor...

It should make the VP debates interesting to watch....

Oh, and happy 73rd b-day, McCain... you just chose a total neophyte to be your successor, after you die of a coranary during your first year in office.

Thadius -> RE: Rumors suggest McCain has picked his running mate (8/29/2008 9:21:10 AM)

She actually won the election in a landslide, after winning a 3 way primary.  BP you are missing the other important areas of her experience.... like energy.

Just sayin.

subtee -> RE: Rumors suggest McCain has picked his running mate (8/29/2008 9:22:59 AM)

Do you find her presidential? Would you elect her president outside of the context of being McCain's VP? It seems to me these are crucial questions for all of us to ask ourselves.

Thadius -> RE: Rumors suggest McCain has picked his running mate (8/29/2008 9:25:14 AM)

She has executive experience, strong principles, sound energy policy (with experience as a regulator in Alaska).  She has as many qualifications if not more than Obama.

If she were running for the office, I'd at least listen to what she had to say. I could easily see myself voting for her.

subtee -> RE: Rumors suggest McCain has picked his running mate (8/29/2008 9:29:05 AM)

To both Celtic and Thadius: Had you heard of her before today?

kittinSol -> RE: Rumors suggest McCain has picked his running mate (8/29/2008 9:30:01 AM)

McCain's on the radio right now trying to sell his choice of VP: "She's exactly who this country needs to help me fight the same old Washington politics of me first and country second." Talk about fluff.

There are 15,000 people trying to make as much noise as 85,000: of course, it's impossible, so the party organisers are covering up the feeble cheers with loud trumpets and heavy drums. It's desperate, and your and others justifications for this demagogic choice of VP fools nobody, except perhaps yourselves.

Thadius -> RE: Rumors suggest McCain has picked his running mate (8/29/2008 9:31:49 AM)

Yes, I remember when she resigned as a regulator because of corruption in the system and the fact that she couldn't speak out publicly becasue of that position.  I also remember a write up sometime back when she ran for Gov.

Edited to make it more clear.

She's even been to Landstuhl to visit the troops [;)]

Really? Put them side by side and he still comes out with less experience both in private and public life. Start with the basics - she's had a job, and paid a mortgage without requiring a felon to provide the DP.

The top of the ticket won't get my vote, but Senator McCain and Governor Palin make a clear distinction to the politicians representing the policy of rewarding failure and penalizing success of the other side.

And her long term plan to get us off fossil fuel is?

In 1931, not long before he died, the [Edison] told his friends Henry Ford and Harvey Firestone: “I’d put my money on the sun and solar energy. What a source of power! I hope we don’t have to wait until oil and coal run out before we tackle that.”

Ouch!

kittinSol -> RE: Rumors suggest McCain has picked his running mate (8/29/2008 9:48:40 AM)

It's obvious she was picked just because she is a woman [8D] . Scandalous, this affirmative action thing isn't worthy of the GOP.

I heard that on the radio today too.
I think that would be an excellent pick.
Romney is a self made millionaire and Harvard educated businessman.
Plus he doesn't drink, smoke, do drugs, or even drink coffee so it'd be awful hard to dig up any dirt on him.

That won't slow them down a bit, if they can't find any dirt on the man, they will just make some up. And if that doesn't work, they will bitch about Bush some more, they seem to enjoy that.

Those damn Democrats.  Always slinging dirt and coming up with lies.  Look at how they accused that nice Bush fellow who won all those medals in Vietnam of being a coward.  Something about a swift boat, whatever that was.  And remember back in the South Carolina primary how they started a rumor that McCain cheated on his wife and was the father of  a black baby?  Makes you wonder how people like that live with themselves!
