How will she sell the continual occupation of Iraq.

With her tits?

Obviously, Sanity thinks so.

cyberdude611 -> RE: Rumors suggest McCain has picked his running mate (8/29/2008 8:12:14 AM)

Funny how the Democrats are squirming like crazy right now...trying to reassure themselves this doesnt help McCain.

Like I said, analysts are saying McCain hit a home run.
The Republican base will embrace Palin with her strong conservative credentials. She is strongly pro-life. She's against gay marriage. She's got a lifetime membership of the National Rifle Association. And she is the first woman in history to be added to a Republican ticket.

Her son is also part of an infantry division in Iraq.

Well, some could be sold on Iraq with a blow up doll.

I was talking about middle America.

I really don't get it. I keep thinking they're gonna say..."just kidding!"

She is a generation younger than Sen. Joseph Biden of Delaware, who is Barack Obama's running mate on the Democratic ticket.

She is three years Obama's junior, as well, and McCain has made much in recent weeks of Obama's relative lack of experience in foreign policy and defense matters.
On Aug. 1, Palin scored a major victory when the Alaska legislature passed a bill that authorizes her administration to award a license to TransCanada Alaska to build a 1,715-mile natural gas pipeline from Prudhoe Bay on Alaska’s North Slope to a hub in Canada.
The pipeline would be the largest construction project in the history of North America. If completed as hoped within ten years, it would ship 4.5 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day. The United States imported about 10 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day in 2007.
Under investigation for firing
But Palin’s seemingly bright future was clouded in late July when the state legislature voted to hire an independent investigator to find out whether she tried to have a state official fire her ex-brother-in-law from his job as a state trooper.

The same analysts that say Biden was a good pick.

Her other son has a disability.  And she is mixed marriage to a man who has eskimo ancestory.  And she hunts.

Interesting though....

Obama injects old age into his campaign with Biden.
McCain injects youth into his campaign with Palin.

Seems like both these guys have some insecurity issues with their age.

I personally wouldn't suggest either have insecurities, but that they know what their campaign lacked.

If the GOP really think that the female electorate is so easily manipulated that it will fall for such obvious tactics (it's obvious the nomination of Palin is an attempt to rally the Clinton voters), they've got something else coming.

Well...there must be something their pollsters are telling them that follows along those lines. Pretty awful premise to run for President on.....the thought that trotting out a woman  will cause women to blindly vote for her. But are they saying that Palin is the kind of woman who can attract female voters because of who she is and what she has done in her life?  That knowledge of her will lead to votes?  That seems an ok premise to work from.....

Someone just told me Al Gore is endorsing McCain?  Is that true???

Considering he spoke at the Democratic Convention...........doubtful.

Edited to add.........I am an independent. I never have been fully to the left or right. Many of my personal views are decidedly right, and many are just as far to the left. I vote for individuals.

I will be the first person to admit that I A.) detest our current president and B.) Obama was far from my first choice, neither was Hillary.

However, since the convention began and in doing alot of research, I've become confident in my vote.......as has the registered independent that usually votes Repulican I live with. I can also say that for the first time we are both in 100% agreement and both more excited about this election than any other.

For us it isn't about being in love with the candidate, its about being in hate with the way things have been and would continue to be with McCain. If he thinks that bringing in a conservative pretty little chippy will win over those of us that were pro Hillary a few months ago, he is an idiot. Most of us have brains and we tend to actually use them.

No one is "selling" the continual occupation of Iraq - where do you even get this stuff.

But regardless - now we see the sexists come out, don't we...

I think this also sends a message to feminists that the Democrats are taking their vote for granted. The Democrats tell Hillary to butt-out not only for President but also for VP. And the GOP goes and puts a woman on their ticket.

Im not saying that will win votes for the GOP. It's too soon to speculate on that without looking at some polling data.....the pollsters will figure that out in the coming weeks. But feminists have to be a bit upset and the Democrats are going to have to do some damage control with women.

A good point was made on TV the other day. That this just like what women have experienced in corporate America. They work for a company for 20 years. They have loads of experience and qualifications. And then when a big promotion opens up.....the company hires a young, smart, good-looking man. You think feminists dont see that?

Owner59 -> RE: Rumors suggest McCain has picked his running mate (8/29/2008 8:36:15 AM)

I`m not fazed.

It was a deft move by McCain.

Completely political,though.

Good for the country? The right direction? We`ll see.

She most likely will be the president,if  McCain wins. There`s a huge possibility that he`ll become ill,so she must be looked at in those terms.

Don't hate her because she's beautiful.

Hate her because she's smart.

Of course it was political.  They're politicians.  All of them.  Dems and Republicans.

Hate? Don't be a putz. So, you are happy he picked her? Does that mean you are in love with her?

I simply think it was a very shallow fear based choice.

But hate, non............I'd never heard of the woman before this morning. Chances are, based upon what I am reading, I would like her. Still doesn't mean she should have the been chosen.

cyberdude611 -> RE: Rumors suggest McCain has picked his running mate (8/29/2008 8:45:51 AM)

Howard Wolfson (Hillary's communication director) said that this was a "bold move" that will surely "shake up this race."
