ORIGINAL: slvemike4u But Thadius none of this addresses the issue of arrogance on the part of the search committee, what does this say about McCain's judgement.Does McCain really believe he can court the disaffected Hillary backers by selecting a social conservative simply because she wears a skirt. This is insulting to the voters on numerous levels and will IMO blow up in Mccain's face. Die hard Dems weren't going to vote for McCain anyways. I believe this pick is a double sided pick. First it provides red meat for the conservative base, and second it puts a very strong woman in a position to run in 4 years. Remember not all of Hillary's female supporters were liberals. I think it is arrogant of folks to think this pick was based on going after liberal women, as Palin is a hardcore conservative. I think what really got McCain's attention and the final nod was her ability to buck the system (the way he used to), remember she didn't go after Dems, she went after Republican corruption and won. Just my take on it, Thadius P.S. I think she will appeal to blue collar women in the middle of the country.
