Ven - I just loved what Bita said about Obama's accomplishments and experience, so I shall quote her verbatim. I hope she doesn't mind. "Obama has the experience of being a unique American. He has lived in his skin for 40+ years and has attained skill sets and abilities. He has the experience of being married and having a family. He has experienced opportunities which he has not wasted such as higher education. He has the experience of helping other people find jobs, he has the experience of helping kids find direction. He has the experience of sitting among others and voicing his opinions, concerns, agreements and objections to legislation which has an impact at the state and federal levels. He has the experience of failing and succeeding .. of love, indifference, hate, lust, glory and saddness. He has the experience of having traveled many roads, of standing fast and of changing his mind. He has the human experience ..as do we all. He is flawed and perfect, mediocre, exciting and boring. In his future, whether elected or not, he will experience exalted highs and ultimate lows, he will, ultimately experience death. He's an adult American who has reached the minimum age requirement to run for office. That qualifies him for the presidency. If he can inspire enough people to vote for him, then he will have earned his office and will proceed to lead the nation on the path he believes is best." Bita summarised this beautifully. Obama has mobilised public opinion, and brought about a current of hope for the future. The votes he gets in November won't be coming out of indifference: people will most definitely be voting for him, not against someone else. This election will stay on record as one of the most divisive in history: but in the end, I think he will have unified much of the country, that which voted for him, with a common goal, whether he gets elected or not. That's one hell of an accomplishment.
