Whoa...i'm reading these forums way too much.  i think i may even feel a bit of underlying mis-trust of black people at this point.

"Soylent Green is people....and Obama is black!!!!  Wait is black not offensive enough???  Well then, he's a Muslim fundamentalist secretly put in place to bring about the new world order... He'll rape our women..."
or some other such nonsense.

Woah... you have a serious chip on your shoulder. If that's how you react each time you're wrong, you're in for a tough ride on these fora, mate.

Chill out: doesn't do anybody any harm.

It amazes me that some individuals still choose to bask in their ignorance, in this age of easy-access information. Prejudice is so much easier than thinking  .

Bearing in mind that on the heels of your reply, which I took as being trite, was the east of chicago statement.

Yes I am a bit defensive. I admit that. Its not like I know any of you to say, "oh, they didnt mean it that way."

I dont mind being wrong. its the one thing I do right.

I don't know about you Kittin but I am always thrilled when ignorant fools out themselves so quickly. Makes it much easier to determine which posts to read and which to skip over.

My reply was trite? Considering the number of times I've read and heard that Obama was a Muslim terrorist who hated America, I'd say my reply showed remarkable restraint. Anyway... like him or not, Obama may well become the next Prez of the US, so you might want to get your facts right: it'll be useful.

I did some more reading on McCain as well. I have to keep reading, but that Keating five thing...am I the only one that found that intresting? Or the fact that he used his war record to win an election?

Like I said, I dont think any of them will actually do anything, but looking at the things they have been involved in, what would motivate them to run knowing all that would be dredged back up?

From what I can tell Obama has a clean record.
McCain has been married like 2 times, and from the way it reads, he met his current wife while married to his last wife. He helped with S&L people...and he rode the coat tails of his military history into a political office.  He is known for being hot headed, and relishes war. Hm.

Thank you, tulip. You, on the other hand, are not difficult to adore.

To be fair to myself though, I'll say that only argue because they talk crap, and since there's a lot of guys that talk a lot of crap... well, it makes for a lot of arguments  .

Even though, this has some how turned into a debate about Obama and the rumors that have been spread about him. In the long run, based on what I have read in the past 15 minutes or so, I cant see how the original poster would thing that he couldnt win. He seems to have a firm platform. He seems to be the cleanest of the two. And while it is sad that his race is an issue for some of the less enlightened of the public, that seems to be the ONLY real issue.

Like I said in the post before this one, McCain has a some what shady history. As a woman, I wouldnt trust a man who uses his record shamlessly to win a seat in office, which he has tried to do in this election. (I have seen several ads about wouldnt you like to have a veteran on your side, or some such drizzle) Nor, would I trust a man who met one wife while still with a wife. It seems to me from that stand point that he doesnt know what he wants. NOR, would I trust a man who is known for his temper, and his love of war. Even to the point he supports the war in Iraq. But appatently makes little frowny faces at the way we treat the people, tho he does nothing about it.

While reading over Obama, I couldnt find any real reason to say "this guy doesnt have a chance in hell of winning" out side of the fact that people keep making an issue of race. The fact on that is that, race shouldnt matter. We as a people should take the fight out of the racial stand point and look at what the man is and has accomplished. It seems to me, he has written several books, has a christian view point, ( while I dont follow that faith, it doesnt mean the morals for it are wrong) and his goal of taking the troops from Iraq seems to be awesome. We got them over there in a matter of days, why couldnt we bring them home in a matter of days?

Even if in this post, to those of you who have some kind of longevity here, and seem to have the ability to be the know all of who is a fool, or who is basing opinion on ignorance, I have done nothing more than make myself look like a fool. This post has made me look, read, search, learn and grow as a person. It has opened my mind to an option that I didnt think I had. Even to the point that I disliked all of the candiates so much I wasnt even going to vote.

Understanding that I am new here, and that none of you know me, and I am sure that you encounter random stupidy several times a day, my post perviously was made in error, and again, I do apologize for that. Your replies, heated or no, to that post made me go on and look for more and in that, I have come to realize, perhaps my own dislike of Obama was based on rumors, even if I didnt realize or want to admit it.

In reply to the original post, stating that the country wasnt ready for a black president, I find to the contrary that this country is ready for any one that can change the current state of affairs, even if the man is purple with green dots on him. Or her for that matter.  I know I would readily accept a three headed man who could do something to make my life and the life of my children better. Though, I again have to say, I have yet to see any one, in spite of the promises they have made do anything but make it harder for any of us to live day to day.

True too - perhaps a national healthcare system will help them both recover their sight. *Sigh*.

I could only find reference to one wife, Michelle. That was in 1998 that they married.

Obamas Win has already been for told.

quote:

There will be a Black American President this century but that President will not be elected in 2008. Obama paved they way much as Al Smith did in 1928 for Catholics but Obama will lose, just like Smith lost. The numbers just are not there this cycle.

In order for Obama to be elected President of the United States in 2008, he will need a majority of white voters in the United States to vote for him and that is just not going to happen.

Besides four years of bozo, I mean Bush is enough.
