The concept of spending more than a quarter-million dollars on clothing- not real estate, not an exotic automobile, but clothing and bling-bling... it just does not compute. How can stuff that does nothing be worth so much?  I mean, if it were a robotic exoskeleton that enabled her to perform superhuman feats of strength and speed, sure. A suit of armor made out of layered Kevlar and Titanium? probably. But, just dress-up clothes? Nah. Seriously???

Here's a link to the Vanity Fair piece.

Mrs. McCain's jewelry makes up the bulk of the price tag.

It's a bit much to hear someone with a 280 grand pair of earrings talking about the atrocious poverty she witnessed in Calcutta at a political convention at a time of general economic meltdown, but this demonstrates that material wealth doesn't necessarily equate taste or tact.

PS: and yes, I love bling, and I'm jealous.

PPS: and MistressNew is right; the hypocrisy of defending Mrs McCain after berrating Edwards for his stupid haircut is effing hilarious.

Or when a democrat gets a 500 dollar haircut, it becomes the defining moment of his campaign, used to paint him as an "elitist."

Actually I didn't give a shit about his expensive metrosexual personal grooming, but I did laugh like a mad fool when he got busted trying to sneak out of that hotel. I never did like that guy. Slimey and slick were the words that always came to mind when I saw him.

Oh honey, I could spend all $313,000.00 on bling in a heartbeat. That ain't NOTHING in the world of blingdom.

Now, back to my real world of cursing because I had to spend over EIGHT DOLLARS on a can of my favourite coffee today! !In the immortal words of Yosemite Sam .....@#$%^#$!

Ah good God, Mia, so do I - I used to live in Geneva, absolutely packed full of luxury jewellers, so I regularly made trips to Van Cleef, Cartier and Bulgari and Graff just to look at their crystallized carbon *sigh*.

Obviously you've never gone shopping with a woman in a department store. It's like a kid in a candy store. They will spend all day in there and tons of money if they have it. Some of the shoes alone costs...what? $700 bucks? It's crazy but that's women for ya....

umm -  she earned every penny, pays taxes on what she earns, and looked really good.

Good on her.

Its people like her that enable the rest of us to have a job ( business owners that is)

By the way - i also thought Mrs Obama looked really nice in her $140 dress.

REALLY!!!!!!!!

How did she do that?

By being born into the right family and inheriting Daddy's beer distribution company?

Hope all that hard work didn't wear her out.

It was famously said that George H.W. Bush was born on third and thought he hit a triple.  That was updated and they said George W. Bush was born on third and stole second.

For the life of me, I can't think of a good analogy for this.

I would have to wonder why they would think I care how much her dress cost.

Well, let me try to help you out.
You see, you have a man who can't remember how many houses he owns with a wife who was wearing more than what many voters' houses are worth.
Interesting comparison, no?

Sorry, still don't care what it cost. Don't care how many houses she has at the moment or whether he knows either. Don't care what Obama's middle name is. Don't care where he was born. Are you getting it yet...I don't care.

We heard crickets when Barack Obama baby Momma said she was going to spend her stimulus check on earrings, but Heaven forbid Cindy McCain spend some of her money on "bling".

Who the fuck really cares what Cindy McCain was wearing? other than Vanity Fair?

So what constitutes a "baby Momma"?  Basically any woman who has children...or just a black one?  Or just Michelle Obama?  It seems to be a favored phrase of yours.... i mean, Cindy McCain's name seems revered and respectable enough to be used...what's the underlying difference between the two? Hmmm....

I wonder how many lives she could have changed....or saved...with the money spent on that one outfit?
