Hi Kim

my thoughts on this subject are

diets don't work.
deprivation is setting yourself up for failure.
and changing oneself needs to be done for oneself, not for someone elses requirements or demands.  That rarely works imo.
Embrace yourself and love yourself first and foremost...and if you cannot or do not > address that as well and with priority..  Everything else you do to change your outside will be temporary if you are not embracing yourself from the inside out.

If you and he wish for him to support you in this, ask him to accompany you on your walks...hikes...bikerides...swimming....go dancing...
move your body and energize your mind....invigorate your spirit by feeding your creativity.  Eating will become less important and more for nutrition than "for  other reasons" that gets us all in trouble with that weight thing.

Moving my body ( as I mentioned above) Moderation in portions, cooking more than buying boxed stuff, cut out the sugar and try to eat more food in their natural state than processed state, the darker in color the veggies & carbs the better, and  more protein & veggies than carbs at each meal << works for me.                                                                                         When food cravings try to take ahold of me>>> i can get pretty stupid so >  I KISS it...K.I.S.S.>  keep it simple stupid.

I have maintained a very large weightloss for 4 years by doing this.

I wish you good health and love of self : )

Cyndi

i could eat meat with every meal, but with dinner i almost crave leafy greens of some sort. i eat about 3 lbs of frozen spinach a week among the other veggies i love.  nothing like a good rare steak sliced thinly over a bed of baby spinach with some crumbled blue cheese and balsamic vinegar drizzled on top.  geesh, maybe i'll have dinner for breakfast this morning.

Jeez, Level, where do I fit in?  I'm not a meat eater (well, I do eat chicken).  I'm not a carb eater and I don't LIKE veggies....

Twinkie cream? [8D]

What do you like to eat?

I do enjoy baby spinach, too, christine. Nothing wrong with dinner for breakfast!

How quickly they forget....chicken and soup.

MsStarlett -> RE: weight loss (9/6/2008 6:25:07 AM)

The best advise is always the same.  Eat sensibly and exercise.  How each individual does that is up to themselves.

Personally, I started with the "8 Minutes in the Morning" book.  Although the author is a total narcissist with his ugly face plastered on every page... he makes a lot of sense.  His thing was to use an 8 inch plate... mentally divide it in half.  Fill one side with dark colored veggies.  Now, divide the other side in half again.  1/4 of the plate is meat (protein).  1/4 carbs (bread, pasta, potato).  It was SO much easier to do this than all those other crazy diets that had you doing math.  It also lets you eat anything you want... within reason.  Cut out alcohol and limit sugar.

Then MOVE every day!  Even if you only start with 15 minutes a day.  Do a little strength training.  (I know! The book says 8 minutes... but that didn't count 'stretching' and 'warm up/cool down' time.)  Personally - I LOVE the gym!  But I don't run on tread mills or do static bikes.  That's just boring as heck.  I do resistance training.  Never thought I would enjoy it - but I do.  There is nothing else to give a woman such a feeling of empowerment!

Also don't forget, turnips either fried or skilleted up in olive oil or a flavored olive oil  taste like french fries, you can make "french toast taste" by mixing up eggs , small amount of heavy whipping cream, cinnamon and a pat of real butter (optional) and microwaving it, if you want to make a cheese danish place a tablespoon square of cream cheese in the center before you microwave it.  The ever popular loaded faux potato which is basically mashed up cauliflower, as if you were making mashed potatoes

What i found with low carb is if you get on some of the boards and websites, you will find TONS of low carb replacement for your favorite foods but more you will find people who have tried them.

Sorry for the tangent, now i am hungry lol but unfortunately have to go to aqua aroebics.  woe is me.

Chicken is good, and there are some low carb ways to make soup, so as long as you don't get tired of eating that, you'd be fine.

The only thing I can eat every day is ribeye, and eggs. And bacon.

Agreed, there are some great LC sites that offer a ton of info.

I've been up and down my entire adult life.  But about 2 years ago, I finally figured out what I needed to do.  Set small and realistic goals.  Change your eating habits.  Don't buy junk food.   If it's within reach and you don't have willpower, you'll reach for it.   I don't diet.  I watch what I eat.  I cook healthy.  I eat out healhy.    Exercise.  Even if it's getting up from your chair at work and walking down the hall.   Start small.   Don't weigh more than once a week.  Don't rely on the scales either.  As several have pointed out, they've not lost weight, but they've toned up.   Find what works for YOU.     Good luck.

i used to work with kids with eating disorders and they abused scales as much as they did laxatives. A scale...in my opinion...is a mind fuck. I do not weigh myself anymore than 1-2 times a year.

This may be true for some, but this is not always the case. Many who are slaves, have trouble with losing weight while they are unowned, because they need to have a Master as their motivation. It depends on the individual person.

anna

I understand that but what happens to the person when they no longer have that Master.  I know from personal expierence and from watching others that it has to be for yourself  for it to be life long.  By doing it for another yes you can lose but when that person is no longer there most tend to gain the weight back again.

Yes, agreed. This does tend to happen.

i'm trying to quit smoking; i asked 'the man' if he would help me.  he stated that everytime we are together, and i'm craving a cigarette, he will just shove his cock down my throat...

perhaps your master can do something similar with you.

If you're determined to do this on your own the easiest way I know of to deal with food choice changes is to use the plate system. One half of your plate filled with non-starchy vegetables, one quarter of your plate with a starch of some kind, the other quarter of your plate with a protein source. To the side either a glass of milk and a piece of fruit or a cup of fruit yogurt. It's pretty simple and it works. Look at all the diabetics who use that plan!

Yikes, I don't know any diabetics who eat that way.  Have you seen the amount of sugar in fruit yogurt? But many of them do follow something similar to the South Beach plan because it keeps your blood sugar even throughout the day.

proudsub -> RE: weight loss (9/6/2008 8:47:40 AM)

It advocates -- good meats, good fats, good carbs, low sugar, and yes it does advocate not eating a lot of fruit because of the natural sugars found in many but it does advocate eating low sugar fruits only making sure you combine it with a protein and eating fresh which means you make everything fresh and shop the perimeters of the store, it means you get your carbs from whole grains and veggies and not sugar and flour and white breads

That pretty much describes the South Beach lifestyle but it's not low-carb, you eat plenty of good carbs in veggies, low sugar fruit, low fat dairy and whole grains.  Also you avoid all trans fats and keep saturated fats low, but eat plenty of monounsaturated fats. Unlike most low carb plans you also choose lean proteins. You are encouraged to eat 2-3 snacks each day to keep your blood sugar steady.

South Beach was first developed to help control and prevent heart disease and diabetes and it turned into a "diet" when Dr. Agaston discovered many of his patients were losing  weight following it.  The newest version of the plan advocates interval training as the basis of your exercise, along with weight training.

newone11 -> RE: weight loss (9/6/2008 9:21:02 AM)

When I'm craving fries I thinly slice some regular potatoes (or sweet potatoes), lay the slices on a cookie sheet covered in foil, spray the cookie sheet and the slices with butter flavored PAM and bake at 350 until crispy.  All the taste to satisfy the craving but a lot more healthy than fast food.

If it's sweets I'm craving then it's sliced strawberries with fake sugar sprinkled on top with a sliced banana.

As for me...I cut out regular soda, no ice cream except on special occasions such as b-day parties where I pick either ice cream or cake, and no snacks.  For exercise, I walk 2 miles 3x a week and do floor exercises for 20 minutes 2x a week.  Forcing down food for breakfast is hard for me so I 'cheat' with Slimfast which the nutrianist (SP) I'm also using says is just fine so long as I eat actual food for lunch and dinner.  Since the beginning of July I've lost just over 20 pounds.  Who knew that diet and exercise worked! [8|]

Yes, it's the plan that he put me on because he wants me to be healthy which at my previous, and current weight, I am not but it's getting there.  I want to do it because I'm tired of shopping in the big girl store.

WinsomeDefiance -> RE: weight loss (9/6/2008 9:59:46 AM)

Eat less, move around more.

Seems mean and simplistic, but I've lost 20+ pounds in the last 6 months.

I moved within walking distance of my work, and to a third floor apartment.  (Moving around more)

I gave up soft drinks and allow myself no more than one a week.  I cook more often than not now, and cut my visits to fast food joints.  If I do go through the drive-through now, I do NOT get the value meal, but instead get a single sandwich or salad  a large tea.  I cook/load my plate up with smaller portions of carbs and larger portions of vegetables.  Actually, I eat more than I did when I ate unhealthy, but I eat a great deal LESS of the unhealthy foods.

20 pounds and one size lighter, I'm now adding walking for enjoyment around town to my move around more plan.   Took me 3 weeks of icing my knee down every night just from walking up and down the flight of stairs but now I'm up and down them with only a few moans and groans.

PS - meant to add that when you are stting watching tv,or just finding yourself not doing anything - move around.  My friend lost 60 pounds just by every time she thought about it, doing a set of situps or other form of exercise.  Was kinda funny watching her drop down onto the floor in the kitchen mid-sentence and do 20 situps but the end result was one sexy wench.  YUMMY!

When will power is a problem the South Beach plan works well because you lose your cravings for sugar and starch and also it's a very healthy way to eat for a lifetime, not just a quick fix.

ditto,

I have seen this work for many folks.

My pieces of advice:

1) Don't do it for him. The process will be easier and it will be easier to maintain your new weight when it's done for you. Not having the willpower on your own at the moment probably means that you aren't ready yet. You don't want to end up in a situation where you struggle, get it off and then put it back on - that's bad for your body.
2) If you haven't already during routine healthcare, speak to a doctor (not your owner if he has a MD) about a weight that is both healthy and attractive on you.
3) I've had great success using Weight Watchers and attending the meetings. Talk to your owner about the ins and outs of the system - Valyraen likes to ask me every now and then how many points I've used, how many I have left, etc.

Good luck.
