I would be interested if officially (medical not church based info) RU487 is - in the USA - considered a MOP or an abortive.
If someone can help me with that, I would be grateful. Thanks.

You asked so sweetly, maybe i'll look at the medical journals tomorrow. However, i have not yet tried to access articles in full; that may be a cost-based decision. Frankly, information in the US from any source OTHER than a juried and respected medical journal is suspect as hell; the Right to Life masquarades as information sites all the time. Regardless of one's stance on abortion, i think we can agree that dispensing bad information is a undesirable tactic.

I answered darkangels question a few posts back Candy. So you can save yourself some time in researching. * wink*

RU-486 is an abortfacient.

Abortive drugs are a classification to treat migranes.

Ok this one has me comming and going due to my lack of knowledge on these matters in the US.

~ Sits eyeing off several cans of salmon and listens to tummy rumbles (or was that a fart which escaped) ~

However I'll state this. I am pro abortion and believe it is ther right of every woman do make her own decision regarding having a child or not. A choice which she can make in accordance of her beliefs and other conditions such as finacial ability to look after the chils untill it is ready to stand on its own feet some 18 to 18 years hence and the type of environment in which to raise that child. I take issue with organizations, religious or not who attempt to block anyone makeing their own chioce in this matter and especially if they attempt to use force of any kind.... I'd take the barstards out and shoot them in the arse with a load of buckshot and tell em to piss off and see me mate Ron.

~ Wanders off muttering "Need sleep..Need salmon,,,Need bonk....Shit where the f...did I put the scotch......."~

reading newer articles i found out that they are trying to pass it as a Behind-the-counter drug now. with a age limit of 16+ to get it.. and the person will need to talk to the pharmacist to purchase....
HOwever F.D.A. claims that if teens are able to put their hands on Plan B they will have riskier sex knowing that they can just drive up to the local drug store afterwords... and that causing a rise on STDS being passed .... and so on....

Too many arguements....

But again did you see how G.A.O. is investigating F.D.A. because they said that F.D.A. voted many times without reading the full researches and paper work on it... and the guys who usually sign off the votes didnt want to sign it because they didnt agree with it... and also some men with higher power within F.D.A. got their hands in some papers and talked some people to voting against it, which they werent allow.. but again all this is still under investigation

right now all the votes are being done more over political/moral believes.... I think it will take a long time for the 'morning-after' pill to be OTC

Also experts from a pilot project in Washington, say that the use of this pill in the U.S. could prevent up to 2 million unintended pregnancies and 700,000 abortions each year. Fifty percent of unintended pregnancies could be prevented by taking the ‘morning-after’ pill if it was over-the -counter. Plan B can help a lot more women, most between the ages of sixteen to twenty-four, not to become pregnant or commit abortions.

Well enough of this... only time will tell...
