So suffice it to say you wouldn't vote for a candidate that supported the death penalty, or who was opposed to stricter gun laws....right?

if i had my preference i rather the federal government not legislate, right.  give our rights back to the states, yes.
So are you saying you support the death penalty on the state level? i am trying to get a clear picture here.  i'm not sure where the disconnect between "gasping babies", and sometimes "gasping innocent, or mentally ill or retarded person" happens.  If people think life begins at conception, where does it become less valuable...18?

life is always valuable.  taking a life is not the same as giving ones life for a cause they believe in.

Or, why would a politician want to force an unprepared woman to have a child, but not want to pass legislation that would enable the child to have medical, food, and financial assistance provided by tax dollars that seemingly have no limit when funding wars or bankruptcy help for failed businesses with billionaire CEO's?

Yawwwnn.....I couldn't give a shit less if/how anyone chooses to believe in a higher power.  If I determine that any politician is truly for shrinking government, spending less of my money and not support laws limiting my freedom than I usually vote for them.  Whatever invisible power they believe in and how they choose to worship that power is irrelevant to me.....

i am not saying that a woman should be forced to have a child she is not prepared for.  we are right back to where we started.

Or why would politicians take away those funds from a low income household if the husband is still living in the house with his wife and the child?

Huh?  Please re-read my post, i think you thought i was talking about innocent, menatlly, ill and retarded "soldiers"...  But speaking of 'causes', most servicemen i know in Iraq and Afgahnistan believed in the cause of "putting food on the table, and perhaps earning a college degree someday".  This however has nothing to do with the Pentocostal Palin thread, so i'll leave that alone.  Back to topic....

child?  We're talking about abortion, and usually single women in bad circumstances.  Though Your point is a valid one.

Even though she left that church in 2002 she is still going to be hung up for the things said at that church?  Sounds fair to me.

Politics.  Abortion.  If we can work fat people into this thread, we'll have a CM trifecta!

Perhaps, but she was baptized there at the age of 12 and attended the church for most of her adult life. When Palin was inaugurated as governor, the founding pastor of the church delivered the invocation.

More to the point, she was in the audience two weeks ago when the preacher announced that some of the jewish people killed on 9/11 would have survived if they'd converted to Christianity.

So, I guess when you say that she isn't a member there, you mean she is a very active member there.  Slip of the tongue, I guess.

Obama was brought to Christianity by this man, married by him, had both of his daughters baptized by him, and continued attending and defending until this summer when Wright made it impossible to do so anymore.  Should I play some of the Louis stuff... nah, look up calypso Louis Wolcott, he is a popular man at Obama's old church, even given awards and praised by the Senator.

To your second point, actually that speaker (a visitor) from "Jews for Jesus" spoke at her non denominational church.

So, I guess when you have a slip of the tongue you are just trying to stir shit with it...

Actually...i don't get into squabbles about church.  Being a Christian myself, i would find that pretty hypocritical.  i do believe strongly, however, in seperation of church and state, in keeping religion and politics as far from each other as possible, in not holding memebers of a church responsible for the actions of the priests, pastors, deacon, or organist.  No matter if i agree with their politics, or not.

i referred to this as the Pentocostal Palin thread, mainly because i like alliteration.  i could see how someone could misconstrue me as somehow anti-Christian because of it.  Nothing could be further from the truth.

Fair enough.  I think it is handy to know if a politician has a faith or not.  It is when we get into attacking a person because of that faith or because they don't follow a faith that we all get into troubles.

I agree.  I am not, absolutely not a religious person, but I have no issue with the religious beliefs of others, as long as they don't involve the imposition of their religious beliefs on public policy.

i never believed u to be anti Christian.  really i didn't.

i did take ur mention of age(18) in one of ur last post as referring to the soldiers.  i also wanted to say that i certainly hope that America's youth do not join the military for the salary & benefits.  that is for sure gambling with your own destiny.  nough said about that.....
