ORIGINAL: Thadius Afternoon Merc, I tried starting a thread to discuss the differences in issues, if I remember correctly only 1 Obama supporter even took part and tried to discuss them. The rest of the answers were, "He's not Bush." Now we are in a period of chasing Palin around, so again the issues will be avoided. I am not sure who that benefits, but I know the damage is does to the electorate. How does that old saying go about what sells newspapers? Maybe there would have been more response if Senator Obama had a stance on any issue that could be confirmed. It would be difficult based upon his voting record and his rhetoric to date to determine any. His stance is to not be pinned down to any position thus far. No wonder he doesn't want to involve himself in any open 'Town Hall' style debate. Off the prompter he gets confused with the most fundamental aspect of his image - even his religion. It pains me to appear a Senator McCain supporter; however the more the left, and at this point I don't think there is a distinction representing anything else in the Democratic party, is making more of a case for Senator McCain than of their own favorite son, Senator Obama. They have yet to move an inch to the center and have had many opportunities to do so. For example, at Sunday's MTV awards the President of the USA was called a "retard" by the host. I thought that word went the way of PC long ago; except in the case of describing a sitting President? I'm not a political strategist, but I assume all the leftist, socialist votes are already in house for Senator Obama; do you think he could have garner a few independent or undecideds by condemning MTV in general and/or the host in particular? Janet Jackson nipple caused national repercussions, granted it was at the Super-bowl, but the MTV Awards also has a substantial viewership, doesn't it? I'm not representing myself as a political strategist, but if trends continue I think Senator Obama won't carry his own State. He and Senator Biden, both lawyers (another contrast to McCain/Palin), are in stark contrast to what's been put out there by the Republicans. Its a contrast that plays to a very critical group, common folk who don't speak up much but do vote. People who don't want their President referred to as a "retard" on national TV by a someone not even a citizen of the US, even if in their heart of hearts they'd agree that's how he managed the Country in the past 8 years. "Above my pay-grade", 'Present'; aren't answers the voters in this country want to hear or need at this point in our history. Its becoming all to obvious that is what is being put out there by the liberals in charge of the Democratic Party. Take care Thadius!
