If it's necessary, like most medical interventions, it's not the most pleasant thing, but really, guilt has to be taken out of the termination equation. That's where women have a hard time - doesn't mean it's not difficult.

Most women I know who have had an abortion, its like a trip to the dentist, nothing to look forward to but necessary.

It's not a horrendous decision; it's a difficult decision, but it doesn't necessarily have to be made out to be such a horrible thing. we could use that same arguement about going to war or raising taxes.

Politicians sending troops armed to the teeth to murder people to further their political ambitions is hardly the same thing.

bestbabync -> RE: Palins church. (9/9/2008 12:28:03 PM)

forcefully ripping a baby out of a mother's womb is murder.  a person (volunteers) then dies serving his country/doing what he believes in is not murder.

IamElise -> RE: Palins church. (9/9/2008 12:29:47 PM)

Seriously though meatclever. You're comparing a baby with teeth?

but i never heard any of them say "Goddamn America", did you?

So you would "bless America" for segregation,Jim Crow laws, the KKK and Tuskegee?

Would you?

Tuskegee can only be compared to the "experiments"the nazi doctors did.Singling out one race to be it`s victims,............................. just as frightening.

So tell me how a black man should bless America, knowing this?

Afternoon Merc,

I tried starting a thread to discuss the differences in issues, if I remember correctly only 1 Obama supporter even took part and tried to discuss them.  The rest of the answers were, "He's not Bush."

Now we are in a period of chasing Palin around, so again the issues will be avoided.  I am not sure who that benefits, but I know the damage is does to the electorate.

How does that old saying go about what sells newspapers?

Maybe there would have been more response if Senator Obama had a stance on any issue that could be confirmed. It would be difficult based upon his voting record and his rhetoric to date to determine any. His stance is to not be pinned down to any position thus far. No wonder he doesn't want to involve himself in any open 'Town Hall' style debate. Off the prompter he gets confused with the most fundamental aspect of his image - even his religion.

It pains me to appear a Senator McCain supporter; however the more the left, and at this point I don't think there is a distinction representing anything else in the Democratic party, is making more of a case for Senator McCain than of their own favorite son, Senator Obama. They have yet to move an inch to the center and have had many opportunities to do so.

For example, at Sunday's MTV awards the President of the USA was called a "retard" by the host. I thought that word went the way of PC long ago; except in the case of describing a sitting President? I'm not a political strategist, but I assume all the leftist, socialist votes are already in house for Senator Obama; do you think he could have garner a few independent or undecideds by condemning MTV in general and/or the host in particular? Janet Jackson nipple caused national repercussions, granted it was at the Super-bowl, but the MTV Awards also has a substantial viewership, doesn't it?

I'm not representing myself as a political strategist, but if trends continue I think Senator Obama won't carry his own State. He and Senator Biden, both lawyers (another contrast to McCain/Palin), are in stark contrast to what's been put out there by the Republicans. Its a contrast that plays to a very critical group, common folk who don't speak up much but do vote. People who don't want their President referred to as a "retard" on national TV by a someone not even a citizen of the US, even if in their heart of hearts they'd agree that's how he managed the Country in the past 8 years.

"Above my pay-grade", 'Present'; aren't answers the voters in this country want to hear or need at this point in our history. Its becoming all to obvious that is what is being put out there by the liberals in charge of the Democratic Party.

Take care Thadius!

IamElise, it's not a casual thing to do, but it's not a human life either, that's where we disagree.

IamElise -> RE: Palins church. (9/9/2008 12:37:34 PM)

{{{{hugs}}}} to you bestbabync. I can take it. lol

IamElise -> RE: Palins church. (9/9/2008 12:38:59 PM)

What makes viable life for you? How far along?

kittinSol -> RE: Palins church. (9/9/2008 12:45:15 PM)

Well, reasonably speaking, an embryo or a fetus that has no way of surviving outside the woman's womb can hardly be described as a human life - but it's not up to me to decide, until I am faced with this problem myself.

It's a complex question, with imperfect answers, much to the annoyance of those that are fiercely opposed to the right to choose, and who would like to turn it into yet another black/white, good/evil, us/them debate. It isn't that simple.

housesub4you -> RE: Palins church. (9/9/2008 12:45:19 PM)

It's Pro Choice, that does not mean the choice must always be an abortion, it just gives each individual the right to make their own choice.

With Pro-life you have no choice, others have made it for you.

Pro-life is much more than just abortion, there is not allowing birth control to be sold (not every pro life supports this but it is out there) Some Pro life do not want sex education taught there should be no sex so there is no reason for sex education, and there is another issue with pro life, organ donors.  You all remember the brain dead girl in Fl our government felt the need to step in and try to take control over.  Well there is an issue with organ donors that pro life never discusses but is very active in.  Some organs need to be removed before the person is actually dead, so the removal of said organ kills the person.

When my son died, we wanted to donate his organs, we had no choice on the hospital he was taken to because it was an E/r, but when we where discussing donating his organs, the hospital priest informed us they would not follow our wishes because it was against their beliefs.  It was a church owned hospital.   We had no choice, the church informed us what would happen with our child,  so not all Pro Life is about abortion, its about a lot more.

But fighting abortion, and putting pictures up about unborn babies gets people on your side.  But when the whole truth comes out, there are the Pro lifers who want only their beliefs honored when it comes to life, no matter what.

While I disagree with your position, I would like to take a moment to observe that if Obama had given this answer instead of his "above my pay grade" non-response at Saddleback, he would have come off far better in that debate.

Thadius -> RE: Palins church. (9/9/2008 12:52:39 PM)

Even if the votes go the other way he will carry Illinois, the Dem machine in Cook County will make sure of that.  As I have stated before, even with me living in MI now, I would not be surprised if a vote is cast for Obama in my name.  It's just the way things work there.

My best to you and the little lady,
Thadius

I have an intimate knowledge of what I'm talking about. It's not the product of distance learning - perhaps that's what you're picking up on.

the infant gasping for breath outside the mothers womb that Obama voted to let murder was a partial birth abortion.  it was a down-syndrome child.  the child was missing an arm when it was born.  the surgical nurse took the baby (still breathing with a heartbeat) to a soiled linen room to die.  she told another nurse that the baby was there to die.  the other nurse was so upset, she went to the soiled linen room and held the baby for 45minutes until he passed away.  the birth did not produce an embryo or a fetus but a real baby.

celticlord2112 -> RE: Palins church. (9/9/2008 12:54:33 PM)

It was a compliment, kittin....

IamElise -> RE: Palins church. (9/9/2008 12:56:15 PM)

It isn't simple KittinSol. Not at all. So we agree on that level.

kittinSol -> RE: Palins church. (9/9/2008 12:56:41 PM)

I realised that. Thank you.
