On the other hand, however, the use of a strap-on could inadvertently validate the natural dominance of males over females. Fair or unfair, having a penis affords a man natural superiority, at least in the bedroom, over females.

I haven't had the luxury of sticking my two cents in on this thread yet, so I hope folks will forgive me if some of this has already been covered.

A few weeks ago, I posted a thread to discover what the attraction was towards the strap-on, primarily because I don't use one, and never really understood why female dominants would choose to use one and what its purpose was. The response was enlightening. However, one thing that was -very- clear was that the strapon and dildo were not a "substitute" for anything.

I strongly refute your statement that a penis affords ANY natural superiority. The only thing a penis provides is an attached playtoy for penetration. Obviously, this is something that is easily replaced, if penetration play is desired, and not only with a strapon and dildo (which appears to be primarily useful as a hands-free method of penetration play, so the hands can be used for other things). Therefore, there is -no- intrinsic "superiority" in place in having an attached dildo (penis) vs. a portable, detachable dildo, and there may even be significant advantages to being able to -remove- said dildo when poking things is not on the agenda, as any 'distraction factor' would be removed from -both- ends of the equation.

On the other hand, the primary aspects of domination do not require penetration by -anything- and are perfectly capable of being managed without regard to gender. A person who is clearly in command of those around hir will be recognized and respected regardless of the physiological makeup of the body. "Feminism", in general, is just one more polarization that is irrelevant to the actual dynamics of authority between individuals.

It has always seemed to me that when a woman straps on a fake dick, she is trying to be a man.  She is admitting that Freud was right.  Women do have penis envy.  I can't imagine finding it arousing to put on fake boobs or a plastic vag.

See, I don't see it this way, and, quite frankly, I see the tendency to project such sentiment onto an object to be an issue on the part of the individual who perceives it in such a way, rather than being -my- issue.

I see a dildo/strap-on less as a representation of anatomical -anything- than as a convenient tool. Anything would work, but a strap-on gives one the convenience of a tool that you don't need your hands to use. It's never been that interesting for me, because, frankly, penetration play has never been that interesting to me, but if I were to use it, it would essentially be irrelevant whether it looked like a penis or just had the right diameter and length for the penetration I planned on doing, and in fact, on the rare occasion that I actually want something like this, I tend to prefer strap-on attachment penetration toys that are -not- shaped like penises, and instead have interesting shapes and textures never found in a human body.

The advantage, from what I've seen, to the strap-on is less about what is connected to it and more about the fact that, when positioned at the hips or lower abdomen, it is at the perfect height for hands-free penetration of a kneeling, bent over, or reclining individual. Purely pragmatic.

It is a tool that is designed to look exactly like male anatomy.  There is no denying that.  Some of them even come with balls.  And I have seen women whose whole demeanor and body postures change when they strap one on.  They walk and move like guys.  It certainly appears that they are temporarily feeling man power.

Maybe that is only because male anatomy was designed for nothing more than giving women pleasure or violating a man -- after all, it's shaped just perfectly for that, right? (just in case it needs saying... this is being said very tongue-in-cheek).

On the other end, perhaps what you are seeing is a reflection of her own recognition that she is 'in charge' -- that -does- impact a human being's demeanor and body posture. It appears as a form of latent sexism to automatically presume that such a display of awareness would mean that a woman is feeling "man power".

Actually, the penis was designed to enter a vagina, not for violating a man's ass.  But no, I am not projecting.  I see a woman as revelling in female power when she sways her ass when she walks.  When she has a feminine strut.  When she uses her natural gifts to bewitch a man.  I have seen women wearing fake dicks, and they often imitate a man's postures and movements.  Cleopatra on a throne looks very much in charge, but she does not have Clint Eastwood's posture.

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, and sometimes an artificial penis is just something to stick into a hole. But not very often.

As to feminism and the strap-on, I think that strap-on play goes where feminism never can and never will go.

My strap-ons could be banana shaped for all I care. They are my tools for invading oriface, nothing more, nothing less.
