They claim democrats have taken ahold of the investigation and that the case is tainted w/ politics.

There are three republicans to the two dems on the investigating panel,but now the case is tainted.[8|]So much for candor.[:'(]

How does that assertion(true or false),get her off the hook in the investigation?

It doesn`t.

 You don`t get to pick and choose on this thing.Her husband has been subpoenaed.Will he scoff at the law?

They sold her on the story that she was cooperating and being open about the case.I don`t think that was ever true,but now it`s official.

The bro/in-law`s boss,who was fired,will be on MSNBC tonight.

Troopergate just became an issue.No more hiding behind the "I`m a reformer" banner.

Palin in the end will be the death knell of McCain's candidacy....The sheer irresponsibility of choosing this 'hockey mom" to be a heart beat away...should give anyone pause,no matter what side of the aisle they stand on."I can see Russia from my house" ....Her "moose in the headlights" moment concerning the Bush Doctrine...her repetitive response to the one bullet point they had crammed down her throat concerning Israel....How can anyone in good conscious vote for McCain after he chose her ,in what appears to have been the singularly most cynical ,pandering and politically expedient manner...God Help The Republic if these people win!!!

           Smart move.   If the media and the leftist hack attacks hadn't thrashed the credibility of these questions from the moment she was announced, this might be a problem.  Count on the Dems to blow it for themselves, though.

        Now it gets delayed, and lost in the cloud of bullshit, lies, hypocrisy and delusion.

       If McCain plays war as well as he's playing this election, our guys are going to be home the first Christmas after he takes the oath.

You obviously don't know your man. McCain believes in international jollies, he says so himself so don't wait on the tarmac for the troops coming home, you'll have long wait.

What happened last time people said it will be all over by Christmas? One Christmas but doubtful it will be the first Christmas or the second one.

corysub -> RE: It`s Official...Palin will NOT cooperate w/ Troopergate investigator. (9/16/2008 3:08:23 AM)

Why should Palin not be given the rights of any citizen to a fair and impartial inquiry.  The media gave little public airing of the democrat member of the investigation who talks about an "October surprise" for the McCain campaign, already telling us his verdict even before evidence is gathered.  There is a State of Alaska Board that is charged with investigating alleged abuse of power charges against the Governor.  To have the democrat members already setting her up with a guilty until proven trial in the media demands a change of venue.

The professional politicians know the game and the power of the winner.  That some people are "shocked" that the Governor might have given jobs to "friends and supporters" underscores the naivete and lack of sophistication of a citizenry many with an important vote in November.  I guess these people have never been to a town hall, a city mayor's office, a State Capital, or the den of thieves at home on the Potomac.  The extent of the "largesse" that the power of the Presidency, the Congress,  State and local politicians affords is evidenced by the billions of dollars being spent on both sides to win elective office.  Does anyone above the age of reason really believe Mr. Obama when he says with a straight face "it's  not about me, its about you".  Gimme a break!

housesub4you -> RE: It`s Official...Palin will NOT cooperate w/ Troopergate investigator. (9/16/2008 4:27:04 AM)

The average citizen is not running for VP claiming to be the only person who can clean up DC.  She is the one running on transperency in this election.

It is clear to see the Bush aides advising her gave her the same advise they gave everyone else, and her and MCain say they are not Washington insiders.

bipolarber -> RE: It`s Official...Palin will NOT cooperate w/ Troopergate investigator. (9/16/2008 6:45:52 AM)

Refusing to cooperate with what she claims is a "non-issue" just screams:

"I HAVE SOMETHING TO HIDE!"

...to everyone watching. All she had to do was cooperate for 50 frickin' days, stall things... and she would have gotten away with it... but she just blew it.

The republicans are willing to embrace lots of different kinds of evil, corruption, and lies  (hell, they admire that sort of thing, look at Rove) but being an incompetent liar is not one of them.

Everyone watch for the moment when Dr. Evil presses the button, and her chair tilts backward, flinging her into the firey pit below...

She's got more experience as a leader than Obama and, for every example of what you call her missteps or her awkward moments or whatever you're complaining about,  I guarantee I can find you two that are far worse by Obama on Youtube.

What's the fact that she's a hockey mom got to do with it. Do Democrats consider women inferior? Or have you just conveniently forgotten that she's also been a mayor and a governor...

No need to hijack.

We know how the cons feel about her.The 2nd coming and all.

This thread is about her abuse of power,the summery dismissal of a good cop ,her flip-flop on candor and cooperation and now obstruction of an investigation.

The cons knew what they were getting into when they hired her.Seems kind of silly and ridiculous to now claim politics has tainted the investigation,when the case predates her VP pick.

Isn`t the Alaskan legislature controlled by republicans?

Again,a hard case to sell that democrats are trying to derail her.Plays well w/ cons,but not regular folks.

This stinks.

I can't believe she would want a man who used a TASER on his 10 year old step-son fired! The gall of this woman. Doesn't she know that the 10 year old ASKED for it to see how it felt! No wonder the Democratic legislature is upset. They believe a 10 year old should be able to ask for anything and get it learn from the 'experience'.

quote:

ALASKAN State Trooper Mike Wooten admitted yesterday he had used a Taser stun gun on Sarah Palin's nephew, his stepson, but claimed he was no danger to her family.
Mr Wooten - who is Mrs Palin's former brother-in-law - is at the heart of a legislative investigation into whether the Republican vice-presidential nominee abused her power as Alaska Governor. Source: http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,24325497-5012748,00.html

Now if he used it on a suspect while arresting him, or a bear; his suspension and firing would have been justified. But a 10 year old boy who asked for it deserves to know how it feels and this State Trooper represents the BEST of Alaskan policing. Fire him? He should be given an 'Education Award'. Maybe he can start an Alaskan TASER version of the DAR program. "Go ahead - I DAR you to ask me to TASER you!"

Yup - no worries if the man behind the thought process pulls you over next time you're driving in Alaska. Just don't casually ask if it hurts to be shot by his side-arm; he's liable to decide for yourself after he facilities the experience. But of course, with this history and the scrutiny given not to the man, but to the person who wanted him off the force, you'll have a GREAT basis for a lawsuit lottery win - as long as you survive.

Yup - this is the 'smoking gun'; albeit I don't know if a TASER smokes.

Come on Merc, you know this is about more than just whether the trooper did something stupid. Palin's staffer attempted to coerce a career civil servant to make a firing decision without fairly examining the case. That this was a political intrusion into law enforcement makes it even more troubling.

The investigation is now into whether the fired staffer acted with or without the governor's knowledge and approval. If Palin did approve of this action before hand it is definitely a violation of ethics laws she has used against others previously. Now you may not believe what is good for the gander is good for the goose but I happen to believe in applying the laws to everyone.

Unfortunately having more experience doesn't always mean better.......

I think we've seen enough of that kind of experience for one lifetime.

Was my representation of the actual occurrence wrong, or the reference cited inaccurate? This was what happened. You support that State Trooper still being on the job? Are you comfortable with him being on the streets while a member of your family is driving?

Or, since the issue of experience is major, is this a matter of experience? Now that he's done it once he knows better not to do it again?

Well, regardless, her ticket is not getting my vote.

However I'll challenge this statement you made; "I happen to believe in applying the laws to everyone." Support AA/eeo? Think that more tax should be paid by some and not others?

Those are the laws aren't they? I am in a pretty high tax bracket and make no serious effort to reduce my taxes but since I make more than a lot of people I don't really have an issue with paying more since I can afford it and still live quite comfortably.

cloudboy -> RE: It`s Official...Palin will NOT cooperate w/ Troopergate investigator. (9/16/2008 9:22:25 AM)

Joe Biden on his 60 minutes interview with Obama talked about how Obama just "stands out" for his political skills. He really does have the ability to unify people and advocate for rational positions.

The financial meltdown, though, has turned the national debate back to the issues. More people need to be asking themselves, "how did we get here?"

One answer is the Republican ideological position against government regulation. Being pro - free market and liaise-faire is one thing, but holding that political position in front of averting a catastrophe is another. Basically the BUSH administrations just stood by while Wall Street crooks cooked up a ponzi scheme in the Real Estate market.

--------

Sanity is hilarious because he's anti-affirmative action, but now suddenly he's all for it. I suppose the ends justify the means.

Its hard to comprehend how endless war, institutionalized torture, skyrocketing gas prices, a financial crisis, two (2) trillion in new debt, and a possible restart of the cold war don't have more people more ready to shakeup the establishment.

The above problems are not the result of media bias, sexism, gun-control advocates, gay rights advocates, environmentalists, or the alleged socialist leanings of mainstream democrats.
