No sense in posting something that promotes a rumor.  If you wish to make a point, do so with fact and logic.  Obama is not a Muslim.

...well said.

Vendaval -> RE: NOW endorses Obama Biden (9/17/2008 10:47:19 AM)

As I have mentioned in these threads before, religion in US politics is usually of the garden variety Protestant types or it is viewed with suspicion by many voters.  JFK was Irish Catholic and that caused a good deal of controversy back in the day.

Wrong. Biden is a Catholic, Obama is a christian, but Palin is a whacko creationsist.  Her views are so extreme and her fervent religious beliefs are way too radical to trust her in public office to uphold the seperation of church and state. Plus, she is a proven liar. Not really plusses for an elected VP.

it just blows my mind that if a politician is a christian it is said he will legislate his religion on others, but if the politician is a jew, muslim, or a non-believer he is considered fair & objective.

are you sure about that?

here is a lie about faith.

Commenting on a recent Los Angeles Times report quoting a childhood friend stating Obama prayed in a mosque – something the presidential candidate said he never did – Obama's campaign released a statement explaining the senator "has never been a practicing Muslim."

.....lovely non-partisan website eh?

LaTigresse -> RE: NOW endorses Obama Biden (9/17/2008 10:55:31 AM)

Sooooooooooo praying in a mosque makes a person muslim now?

I've bowed my head in prayer at many a catholic funeral, wedding, and other misc events. Does that mean I am catholic?!?!?!

Vendaval -> RE: NOW endorses Obama Biden (9/17/2008 11:00:05 AM)

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing LaT.  I have been to services of all sorts out of respect for friends and family members.  Does that change my own belief system?  No, it means I care about their beliefs and feel honored to have been included in weddings, baptisms, christenings, funerals and the like.

cyberdude611 -> RE: NOW endorses Obama Biden (9/17/2008 11:03:56 AM)

But you still didnt answer the question...
Had Obama chosen a woman....would you consider that an insult?

What exactly is in McCain's past that would lead you to believe that he's only pandering for votes?

Don't blame the Republicans because your own party screwed up and picked the less qualified candidate to lead your ticket.

bestbabync -> RE: NOW endorses Obama Biden (9/17/2008 11:03:58 AM)

my thoughts exactly!  a persons religion should be left out of politics.  same goes for Governor Palin.  no double standards please.

afterall Senator Obama's pastor/church for 20 years was pretty damn radical.  so radical he seperated himself from it.

I'm not blaming the republicans for anything the democrats did (they are not my party as I am registered as an independent, I vote for the individual not party as my voting history shows).

McCain was sucking, his advisors took a look (after the democrats chose) at what would most help him based upon his weaknesses and the disgruntled women that wanted Hillary on the democratic ticket and chose based upon his weaknesses. It was a brilliant strategy all in all. However, just because I think it was brilliant does NOT mean I agree with it. It also shows McCain's military training, the art of distraction. Palin's addition distracted everyone from the important issues. Got panties ruffled, coast to coast. You've got uneducated female voters waving the "you go girl" flags everywhere.

As for the question about Obama picking a woman would I be offended. If it was someone like Palin, hell yes. Just because Hillary said "thanks but no thanks" (I have a few hunches on how that is going to play out that will mean she has far more power than she would have as VP) does not mean just ANY woman would suffice. I understand why he chose Biden and I am satisfied with the choice.

I don't care whether an acceptable candidate is male, female or a fantabulous combination of the two. What I do care about is the individual and why I think they were chosen. And I honestly believe Palin was chose for the reasons I gave. Which is why I find it disgusting.

I get that you do not agree with me, thats fine. Just do not assume you can guess at why I think or feel as I do. You will be wrong.

...you have the unmitigated gall to post this after attempting to suggest that Obama is a muslim? Do you have no shame at all?
i've come across some hypocrisy from time to time on these boards, but this is by far the most blatant example. For shame.

bestbabync -> RE: NOW endorses Obama Biden (9/17/2008 11:26:37 AM)

i posted the muslim comment & link about Obama to make a point.  sorry u did not get it.

the religion arguement is getting old.  the comment about Palin's religion affecting her ability to govern was just as stupid as my posting.

....not stupid, hypocritical. You've been caught cold in a blatant act of hypocrisy. Now you want to leave the subject out of it. i can understand why. i seriously suggest you have a little think and stop treating the rest of us in these fora as if we are idiots. We are quite capable of seeing through your sophistry and swiftboating.

bestbabync -> RE: NOW endorses Obama Biden (9/17/2008 11:31:27 AM)

as i tried to state much earlier, a politicians religious beliefs or lack of, should not be an issue.  their politics is what is important.

bestbabync -> RE: NOW endorses Obama Biden (9/17/2008 11:36:21 AM)

it just blows my mind that if a politician is a christian it is said he will legislate his religion on others, but if the politician is a jew, muslim, or a non-believer he is considered fair & objective.

i made this statement yesterday.  i am not the most eloquent of speakers or writers.  i stick behind my arguement.  and i have not changed my position.

LaTigresse -> RE: NOW endorses Obama Biden (9/17/2008 11:37:31 AM)

I will ignore a politician's religious beliefs when they leave them out of their agenda and policy.

...and yet you attempted to suggest that Obama was a muslim. So which is it? Religion is fair game, or it isn't. You seem to want to have it both ways. Religion is apparently a fair stick to beat Obama up with, but Palin is out of bounds.......at least according to you. i very much doubt that you'll find many people here who'll agree with that blatant piece of hypocrisy.
Now, you could apologise and i'll leave the matter at that.

If you really wish to continue with type of hypocrisy, double-standards, negative attention seeking and other SAM behavior you should head on over to one of the chat rooms or Polls and Random Stupidity, where some of your posts have already been moved by the Moderators.
