is a person born submissive? or is it a way of being that is created through experience?

i think people are born gay, so are you born submissive?

Ah, the age old nature/nurture debate. I think it's both, you are born with certain qualities, but then develop those qualities over time.

some are yes, my personality is one that is naturally submissive, adn i have been pritty submissive to my seroundings when i look back on my life. I don't know about everyone but i consider myself to be natural submissive

I believe my orientation as a slave is innate, just as being bisexual.

However I also believe that one's development and life experiences will change HOW that is expressed and worked through in relationships.

Born and then hopefully nutured. But usually not until we come to realize our submissiveness and seek out situations that nurture us. I feel the same way about dominance...that it's innate.

When I look at my life I guess It´s safe for me to say I´ve always been submissive by nature, more or less...

I know i was born this way but i did not reaize why i always wanted to please even as a child until i got older. I think being submissive is an inborn trait not a mold you can force youself into . Well maybe you can but it will never be a comforable fit.

no i am not born submissive.
i was made this way..........sort of.
consider for a moment please----------
i am a street kid. and at 52 yrs old,........only child..........set in my ways..........stubborn.....
i am very much domineering aggressive macho alpha male.

i am primarily......99% vanilla.
SO
i have to be...........molded.............to fit.
most people think about this and ask why i am not a male Dom.
i do not want to be responsible for someone else.
and i like to serve.
SO
yeah
i am not born to this.

I'm in the combination between nurture and nature camp. Some people are born with a disposition to being changed by their enviroment. Some people are more stuborn, and even when changed easily people have different natural and/or conditioned reactions to the same stimulus. So some might be born more submissive and switch because their enviroment affected them in that way, while others under similar circumstances don't. Keep in mind this is 100% rambling.

i was born a submissive..... i grew up and had no control and became wild and out of control... then .. i was a mom and in charge and worked and was incharge.. now.. my children are living their own lives and parents are gone... and i am able to choose... i AM a dominant submissive.... Dominant because i am allowed by my Master to enjoy the discovery of this side of myself.. and submissive .. because i choose to be and revel in it as i love my Master and will serve Him forever .. but.. ONly Him... if that makes sense... have a good day!

There are agreat many thread's on this same topic around these boards.
Personally I believe we are all born into our destiny. However fantasy does take us
down some fabulous path's along the way.

So, my vote is for we are born this way.

I was born ugly, so turned Dominant to get my way, then the ugly duckling became a swan (by developing a personality) and became even more dominant. Why?

I don't know. My submissive thoughts and fantasies began early on but so did my experiences. My feeling is that my submissive / masochistic nature was innate but I'm not sure that perception is really correct. Ophelia

I was born a submissive. I haven't lived as one very much and my life has suffered for it. Now that I have someone that understands me and my needs I plan to be a much happier woman.

I was born a submissive. I think there are things that happened in my life that made me develop into more of a submissive, but I think it came from birth. :3

I honestly think it can go either way. Some are born, some are raised. I was born with these tendencies, but it took care and teaching to develop them.
I think that at least the interest in learning more has to be there from the start of a lifestyle relationship, though. You can't make people into something they're not, though with the right tutelage, a very small interest can turn into a passion.

Hello There,
I think as in any human trait some of it is naturally who you are and the rest is influenced and created by your perception of where you want to fit in.
For me it's not either/or, it's both.
