MissSCD -> How much do you spend getting your hair done? (9/22/2008 7:19:28 PM)

This question is for both male and females.   Today at work my boss was talking to a customer about how much she spends to get her hair done.   She spends about $250.  faint.  It don't look like she spent no $250 on it. Then the customer said she spent $160 and that was without a perm.   Basically just highlights.
I used to spend quite a bit on my hair when Jonathan was alive.  He was fantastic.  No one ha ever been able to do it like he did.
How about it?   How much do you spend on getting your hair done.  I spend about $20-$60.00 depending upon what I have done.

I spend about 40 dollars at the most  because I do my own hair.  I takes a while but since I hate being touched by random people it is the only way to go.

When I lived in Oklahoma and I was seeing the same girl it cost me 35 dollars every three- 4 weeks just for what I call a trim done. When I was getting lowlights done it cost me and addition 65.00

I spend about 120 every so often, for a full head of highlights, and styling.

:-/

It's a lot, but the guy actually knows how to do highlight's, and won't jack them up the next time he touches it.

On a side note, he's the most anti-stereotypical male hairdresser I have ever met. Rather than being the fluffy type of hairdresser,  he's bald, wears fatigues, and rides to work on a unicycle. O.o

oh, if we're talking more than just a cut....it's about 300 for my hair for cut, color and style.  the color is just too much so i do that part on my own.

$85 for full color (they actually apply 2 colors...one to roots one to bottom)

i dont cut it hardly ever...twice a year at most...thats only $35.

beargonewild -> RE: How much do you spend getting your hair done? (9/22/2008 9:10:36 PM)

Costs me $10 to get mine shorn military style every 6-8 weeks.

MIVixen -> RE: How much do you spend getting your hair done? (9/22/2008 9:14:15 PM)

I used to go every 3 - 4 months for cut, color, and highlights - with tip $150 and so worth it.  And don't forget the $50 holiday tip! (Love my girl, have been going to her for over 10 years.)  But now that I am in school.....<sigh> that money goes for books.

If anyone wants to contribute to a charity, I think I'll soon be declaring my hair a national disaster...

I spend 60 bucks for a straightening and I tip her twenty bucks, so it comes up to 80, for the three times a year that I need straightening.  The girl who does my hair is much cheaper than what it would cost me in a salon.  She's self employed and does it from her home, or she goes to the homes of her customers.

In between straightenings, I get it trimmed.  She charges 15 bucks, and I throw her a 5 for a tip.

ETA:  I do my own coloring.  Revlon is my friend.  On sale, under 5 bucks.

Getting my hair undone is pretty cheap, just an extra razor once a week.

anyone else notice the options should be the other way around...
30 to 60
30 to 100
100 to 150
150 to 200

makes more sense yes??

Yes!  I crossed my eyes a couple of times...heh.

When all is said and done, a cut, style and color (weave) runs me about $180.  I go to an Aveda salon because I love their products and their color looks really natural.  Then of course I'm always tempted (and give in) to buy more product...so it's over $200 out the door.

Having said that, I've been between jobs for awhile so I have gone the cheaper route.  I notice it - my hair isn't as soft and shiny as when I use Aveda and the cut isn't as good, and I haven't bothered to color it so the greys are poking out.  But come that first paycheck.......watch out!

soul2share -> RE: How much do you spend getting your hair done? (9/23/2008 2:27:44 AM)

I get it trimmed when I can't stand it any more at the local supercuts or one of the other franchise places.  It's currently growing out longer, why I don't know.....i'm not that fond of long hair.

As far as coloring, I go to Sally's Beauty Supply for it....I use Feria reds...can never remember which one, but you buy the developer for 4 bucks, the color for 4-5, and all you need to do is get a bottle of developer for every 4 colorings......it's a lot cheaper than buying those kits, even at Wal-mart prices, and if you want to mix your own colors, it's easily done.  I have a friend that mixes a red and brown together for a deep auburn......I'm not that daring....I'd end up with purple hair or some odd color like that!  You can also buy the primer and the after color conditioner in 8-12 oz bottles/tubes at the same place.  Just make sure you pay attention to the bottles.....buying a developer for Feria blondes isn't gonna help when you're using the reds....damn fine print!  [:)]
