I have seen more than one profile that they say they have umpteen years of experience and they are a "true Master". These profiles talk about pagentry of d's and someone wanting to be involved in that. I usually think if you say it you must not be it. Has anyone met a dominant that when they said they were a "true master", they actually were?

To me, there is no such thing as a "true" master/mistress. What makes a master/mistress a master/mistress? It's all objective...it's in the eye of the submissive. What may work for one might not work for another. A man may think he is a "true" master, but I may view him as a braindead prick. While Mistress may be a "true" Mistress for me, there will be people who think she is too inexperienced. It goes both ways.

Besides, everyone knows a master is just a sub at heart who hasn't found the right mistress to bow down to!

And on the flip side has anyone met a slave that claimed to be a "true slave" that actually is?

The answer to both questions is yes, such creatures do exist. Hard to find, but nevertheless they exist. If the word "true" is offensive the change it to "real"; define what a Master is and then what a slave is and presto you have what you need.

It might be hard to find language that is not offensive to express the idea that someone is trying to say that they feel being Dominant, or submissive, for that matter, is an inborn part of their personality. Some subs, for instance, might say that they have a 'slave's heart'. However they say it, I do not find that idea offensive, anymore than me saying that I am gifted in working with children.

However, what is more often meant is, 'unlike all these other jokers', and I do find that offensive. What it really boils down to in that case is, a 'true Master' is someone who has found a 'true slave' - two people who are a good match for each other. That's all it is, nothing more. Why think yourself superior for that?

The impression I get from the doms who intone in capital letters and proclaim theirselves is that they either lack confidence or are just trying to stand out from the other profiles.
Some tick off experiences like a traveler has stickers on their luggage, but never absorbed any of the culture.
When I was a biker, there were guys who could take bikes apart and knew all the routes to any given location, the peculiar thing was that most drove at 30 mph.

I do not doubt that there are wonderful people who choose the title Master. I know a handful who encorporate that title/role into the way they view themselves. My comment wasn't meant to indicate that I believed this true of all Masters, or even all Masters I have met, just that, given the numerous people who use the title, very few of them are the wonderful, openminded people of which you speak. (Just like, there are people who use the title "Dom" in an effort to get a quick shag, and people who use the word "slave" for the same reason/as a status symbol.)

I think it's rather arrogant, and totally ridiculous that you think you can capture someones mind, spirit and soul, and then to go further and say not until you capture all these things will you give your heart.
How could anyone think themselves a god, or godly enough to capture someones spirit and/or soul?

This to me is like saying that someone is a "true master"

Depending on my mood, I may try to look relatively blankly at someone asserting that they are a 'true master' (Taking a 'what's it huring?' approach), if they continued in a way that seemed posturing, I'd likely giggle myself silly, and then if they continued, I'd exert the effort to show them the error of their distinction. There seems to underlie such assertions an insecurity. It's as if they hope to gain status via adding that extra word.
A true Master, to me, is One who feels that way to me/I feel is such and is, thus, worthy of my submission, attentiveness, attentions, etc. Beyond that, as long as they're leaving me and mine alone, I don't much care what people call themselves although people acting like goobers in public puts a bad face on the lifestyle/relationship-style and that rather sucks.
