War is a Racket by Two-Time Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient Major General Smedley D. Butler - USMC Retired http://www.lexrex.com/enlightened/articles/warisaracket.htm ----- I oppose war on foreign soil except under the most exceptional of circumstances - circumstances that have almost never occurred and therefore rarely justified meddling in the affairs of others in foreign lands. The Iraq war has no justification - it was a power grab over oil, pure and simple. Everyone knows this, but it's a quagmire now. Afghanistan was another cold war left-over that should have been avoided. 9-11 was primarily funded and perpetrated by mainly Saudi Arabian folks. The claim is that Osama bin Laden was responsible. If that's true it makes him something like a de facto rogue CIA agent as we supposedly trained him and his mujahideen pals to fight the Soviets in Afghanistan. People like to pat themselves on the backs over that arrangement against the Soviets but I observe that while we know how to fight the war we don't know how to keep the peace. I call it Charlie Wilson's Debacle. Sorry Charlie... FWIW, I don't believe the organization Al-Qaeda exists. It's a term the west made up to describe a loose collection of radical Islamic enemies so that we could justify engaging them by the use of this one all-purpose bogeyman term: Al-Qaeda. There is no internationally organized group of terrorists operating toward the destruction of the U.S. Meh...whatever. I could basically give a fuck about Israel. If they want it, they can have it. They already own the oil in the Middle East, so let them have their "Mecca" too. Religious-based claims to land rights over there are idiotic at best. If people identifying themselves ethnically as Jews need somewhere to live - hey, bring 'em over. I love Jews but I am no Zionist. Two things: Jewish chicks are in my experience seriously hot lays (yes, it matters!) and as a whole Israelis are an intelligent, capable folk that would be an asset to the U.S. The more the merrier... I don't oppose an American military force, but I do oppose standing armies. I think it's smarter by far to fight a good game of diplomacy on the international scene. But if your motive is to fight wars and sell arms to both sides of the war, then by all means war is a great racket. I don't have anything against veterans. But I don't think of them as heroes or anything like that. I do think we need to do more for them to get them returned to society - it's the least we can do for allowing them to be crucified for capitalism. At minimum we need to give them what they were promised: access to good healthcare (physical and psychological) and some useful educations to get them going again. My problem is when a vet is just some disinformation spouting zombie, but what can you do? That's how we train them to be, the smart ones overcome that programming. Alas, that's not all of them...hence the video linked to by the OP. All this crap about killing foreigners for the cause of freedom is like being able to recite the contents of a Big Mac - just so much pointless advertising. This detritus of the brain must be scraped off like the plaque from your teeth. It takes time, but most vets come around. And that's when they need the therapy most - when they realize the mental ass-fucking to which they have been victim.
