Status: offline 		I think (please Heretic, correct me if I am misinterpreting) he was referring to the ‘lost warrior’ syndrome infecting the military ‘elite’ and some circles of national politics.  For a really good book on this, check out “Warrior Dreams” by Gibson.  The ‘reaction’ to the reaction to the post-Vietnam era has been suggested to lead to hyper militarism in the 1980s (see militia movement in US, also the ‘Freicorps’ in post-WW I Germany).  At least that is the connection I made to his post/ reference to an earlier post.

In truth, this war was poorly planned and has bit us in the ass for that reason.  Don't get me wrong.  I sooo love to subjugate other countries.  What else is there for me to do on a Sunday afternoon?
Kittin, you are correct in stating that I am not a proponent of the occupation.  As long as we have troops on the ground, though, I will be 100% behind them.  If they asked, I would go over and stand beside them.  I would prefer that they all come stand in this country beside me. 
Maybe then we could defend our own borders.

I think I know what someone was referring to in my post.  My brother and I both took it upon ourselves to defend our father.  I believe that the poster was suggesting Bush's reason for attacking Iraq was the same.  Call me lazy for not looking up who pointed that out but between the cold and the Nyquil, I would forget as soon as I got back to typing.

With all do respect, this video is an attack on Obama for saying the Iraq War was and is a mistake.

What does "The war in Iraq was a mistake" really mean? Is it really disrespecting troops who fight and have fallen? Maybe it's just a disagreement as to how the War on Terror is being handled. After all, was Vietnam a mistake? I don't see anyone saying yes to that question being called out as someone who is mocking the US military and the fallen veterans.

Politicians declare war, troops carry out the orders. Obama is only saying that certain politicains made a mistake in what was done and how things are being handled.   

Even as a person who will be voteing for McCain, I don't agree with all of the video's statements on Obama.

imo, the thread would have been better if the OP had not indicated "i am not voting rep or dem" as it's obviously slanted towards McCain.  i can't stand Obama and only dislike McCain ..... but i also know there are folks with extremely strong views either way and so, if someone posts with a lean either way, be prepared.
