Different nature, and thus some different alleles.
From what little I have read about Lillith, I suspect that she was identical with or an avatar of the Virgin goddess. Adam was fortunate that she let him live when he tried to rape her.

Without the Virgin nothing would ever be born.

Presumably the birth of Adam and Eve does matter in a spiritual sense, having profound effects on the nature of humanity.

I have a huge problem with this Virgin thing. Did she or did she not belong to another man. So much for the 10 commandments.

Usually she is quite aloof and does not want to consort with any male. But the incarnate gods are as much - nay, far more - subject to fate than normal humans, so infrequently she does interact with the male gods - usually to her detriment.

......am i an aethist? Some would say so.......

Is the label aethism a constrictive and absurdly narrow definition of how some people view the universe? Undoubtedly.

but he does have a point. this is from the general mentality that's going around.

i neglected to post the part about him (god) needing money:

"He loves you, and He needs money! He always needs money! He's all-powerful, all-perfect, all-knowing, and all-wise, somehow just can't handle money! Religion takes in billions of dollars, they pay no taxes, and they always need a little more. Now, you talk about a good bullshit story. Holy Shit!"

I can't say I'm 100% certain about the existence of a higher being, one responsible for the creation of the universe or not.

I AM pretty convinced, however, that none of mankind's religions comes close to any knowledge of him/her/it. All of man's religions seem to be a combination of wishful thinking, and just "making shit up" in order to either explain things they couldn't understand, or to place themselves in a position of power over their fellows.

Not really agnostic, either...

I suppose "deist" would be closer to the right word. I tend to think someone or something IS responsible for the cosmos. But, once it was set in motion, I think that being pretty much stood back, and is watching what happens.

The question I've always had is... "Why?"
Why bother to create the universe in the first place?
What purpose does it serve?
Could it be that creating a universe where life and intelligence could develop is just a starting point?
What if we've got it all wrong? What if the universe isn't God's CREATION... but rather God's PROCREATION?

Oh, well... anyone else going to go see Bill Mahr's "Religilous" this weekend? Looks like it could be funny as all hell. (pun)

it is better to believe in God, otherwise, this is all your fault.

I'm not an atheist, but I am not a follower of any religion.  I've always considered myself a Deist.  I find it unlikely that the Universe just happened.  I just feel that there is a higher power at work that I don't understand.  I don't have any proof.  I don't have any proof that life exists on other planets, but I believe it.  I am perfectly willing to accept some things on faith when logic can't go any further.

Atheism as such is an untenable position. People who claim they are Atheists misuse the word "know".    It is just as valid to believe in a God as to disbelieve.   The absurdity both of an anthropomorphic deity, ie fashioned in our image and the moral imperatives assigned to a God , which always equate to the views of those who assign those imperitives, is quite clear to see for all who will open their eyes.    It is also quite clear that if a deity exists HE is indifferent to the human condition. however   the mystery of the complexity and origin of life is such as to convince me that it did not come about by "simple" mechanistic means.     I have spoken, you will listen hehehe     Line feed carriage returns have evolved. DomKen please consult TalkOrigins and let me know why.   Incidently DomKen note that the mutation of LFCR is deleterious in that it makes text more difficult to read. Do you catch my drift ?

I thought you were tired of my pounding you over your crypto creationist BS? I'm beginning to think you might have an online humiliation fetish.

..fair enough. i have little interest in not taking responsibility for the things that happen to me that are down to my choices. i'm not looking for a scapegoat.
Some things though are not my fault.....i can't be held resposnsible for the choices of others. i'm only responsible for my reactions to them.

My Sir is an atheist but he still swears using variations of the different names used to describe God but never Budda or Mohammed or any other "religion."

I'm an out and proud atheist, however I prescribe to the existentialist philosophy. Religion is far too dangerous a weapon to be in the hands of us mortal beings. We rarely invent gods that are better than ourselves, they usually end up with the manners of a spoiled child.
