LOL  the debate's been over for about 12 minutes and i wondered if anythin would be here  :)  i think they both did fantastic

i expected no less than slvemike to say Biden won hands down.  i expected nothin less than me sayin Palin did a fantastic job.

but as i said above, i think they both did reallly well.

however, what really scares me is

quote:

Palin didn't meet the criteria I would think would inspire confidence in her as a potential president.

Biden and Palin aren't runnin for president!!!!

well wishes,

I was sorry that Biden never called Palin on the contradiction between her claiming in one breath that we needed better regulation of Wall Street and in another that we need to shrink the government and let the private sector run things.

Me too, but I think he deliberately held back from attacking her on her obvious inconsistencies to concentrate on attacking McCain's inconsistencies instead. And I think it payed off.

Palin talked about how the American people want straight talk and then refused to answer many of the questions she was asked.

She needs to save the "gosh darn it" for the beauty pageant. Comedic gold.

Neither she nor George W Bush can correctly pronounce the word "nuclear," so I suspect they had the same trainers.

Biden is experienced, smart, and unapologetic. I found him controlled yet warm. I like him more now.

I appreciate his sincerity and ability to become emotional when discussing his family's difficulties while in the national spotlight, I felt it genuine and not at all contrived.

I think he won hands down, but I would expect nothing less with his massively greater experience.

I do appreciate the way both candidates remained civil and even friendly. That's called class.

My overall impression, is that I wish we could have the option of selecting a Biden/Palin ticket.

Biden is an Obama I can trust ... Palin is a McCain I can believe.

That's not what scares me. What scared me was Palin actually stating, and apparently believing, that the Constitution gives a lot more power to the Vice-President than it actually does. VP is and always has been part of the executive branch. Suddenly she's added in legislative duties other than casting a tie-breaker vote in the Senate. WTF? If she believes that, god knows what power she thinks the President actually has. Bit more schooling on what the VP actually does there, Sarah. M'kay?

Bingo!
Palin reminds me of a female version of George Bush.

The similarities are so striking, all I needed was to hear her say "Amerika!", in great
President Bush style, and I would have rolled on the floor.

She has a knack for not answering any tough questions just like Bush, and then just goes on and  on about America being the greatest country in the world!
Talks a lot about nothing of real substance.

This is the best country in the world, Vote for me! God Bless Amerika and goodnight folks!
The people that voted for President Bush twice, will certainly probably line up to vote for
McCain!

Palin's holding up that her family is "diverse" because it includes both Democrats and Republicans cracked me up.

I thought I was the only one that felt that Palin reminds me of a version of George Bush.

With the folksiness and gee whiz stuff, as well as the good camera presence, she reminded me of Reagan.

I think Senator Joe would be great with a sharp pit bull like Governor Palin by his side.

You know Joe ... he gets rattled and just says things that are flatly false sometimes. He did it several times in tonight's debate, when talking about how Senator McCain voted ... he presented information that is just flat wrong.

Nothing new for Joe ... a damn good man that needs is a good woman to keep him in line!

I get sick of hearing that.  It's a colloquial pronunciation, and it's the height of  snobbery when people pull that little nugget out of their pretentious hats.

Actually, I get sick of hearing 'nukular' as well, because it sounds so fucking stupid. Sorry  .

Ok.  So who won?  If I'm sitting in some odd little room on a college campus with a flow chart in front of me, I have to give it to Biden, but not by much.  He stayed more on point to the questions.  But this wasn't a speech tournament.  Frankly, the stream of attacks on Palin in the last week made it very easy for her to look good.  Any gains the Dems had made off her stumbling in the CBS interview are probably lost.
