The Presidency itself was OJT for Jimmy Carter, another nobody governor of a nothing state. What was he, a peanut farming preacher prior to that?

No.

He had a long political history which included two terms in the Georgia Senate.  I would be happy to provide links but I have no idea why you are talking about Jimmy Carter.

Anyone care to recount Arbusto's resume for us?  Just to freshen this up in our minds......

a widely quoted 2006 survey she answered during her gubernatorial campaign, Palin said she supported abstinence-until-marriage programs. But weeks later, she proclaimed herself "pro-contraception" and said condoms ought to be discussed in schools alongside abstinence.

So she is a flip flopper

Really?  You believe encouraging abstinence-until-marriage and educating on contraception are opposing viewpoints?

Well... that gives us a little insight into why you are so confused.  [;)]

Absolutely not.  But someone who believes the Bible is LITERALLY true belongs on a different planet.  There's no possibility of rational discussion with someone like that.

Your opinion.

It's my opinion that people who believe "liberalism" to be LITERALLY true belong on a different planet. There's no possibility of rational discussion with someone like that.

Define liberalism.

I was making a point, putting the shoe on the other foot, to allow "liberals" to see how it feels.

But, of course, the people posting in response to my point are so far gone that they don't "get it", therefore proving that "liberalism" is a belief system no less than Christianity.

And since the contrapositive is undoubtable, as we see here.  We once again devolve to either:

1) Tu Quoque.
or;
2)The whale is undoubtably one of the largest mammals alive today.

You've forgotten already how just one post ago you said:

quote:

Apparently I fell asleep and missed when the Vice-Presidency of the United States was changed into an apprenticeship position.

Again, my point was that if governors like Jimmy Carter can get OJT as presidents, why couldn't they get OJT as vice-presidents...

Get it yet?

Thanks for the heads-up!

Fun little article from Time, with one opinion on why Palin has sparked such a strong response as the Republican Veep nominee...

Why Some Women Hate Sarah Palin  The list starts with her being too pretty...

Personally, I think it's more to do with liberals frequently behaving as if they have a monopoly on certain segments of the population, and needing to destroy anyone who challenges that lie, but I'm curious what others think.

    Why all the bile?

*edit for typo

I agree...Sara Palin is a threat to the east and westcoast"powers that be".  She is from
Alaaskaaa...she talks with a funny sound that is not even close to Bawston or Niew Yorkk, where they probably spilled all their cawfee on their lap after she wowed the world at the Republican Convention. She can't be smart..heck, she didn't go to Harvard, or Yale...has never been to a cocktail party in Georgetown, and certainly her marriage was not written up in the New York Times...Who is this person?  They have never seen anyone like her...
Sarah Palin is multiplied by he tens of millions of woman west of the Hudon and East of Rodeo Drive that talk with her accent, belong the the PTA not he DAR, go to their kids ballgame and not a skybox in Yankee Stadium...and love their country.  You can throw your polls out...Obama can't have Bruce Springsteen at every polling booth bringing in the kids.  When adults get into that voting booth, and it's for real, when the future of our country is at stake, I'm betting on common sense not some childish "hope" or other words in a script.  The only thing Obama is not promising is a pony named beauty for every kid in America!  But that's because he is a community organizer and knows that  a pony riding kid is not a voter.  His experience training people at ACORN is paying off today..

Exactly! And that would be quite a silver lining.

Anyone care to translate this "Ron-ism"?

Firm

NumberSix -> RE: We HATES Her (10/4/2008 9:39:52 PM)

You know the meaning of tu quoque.

The whale is undoubtably one of the largest mammals alive today.

This statement is irrefutable, (one should think) as well as singularly lacking the power to  astonish.

Can you take it from there, Firm?

Ron

Ron,

You've always bordered between blatantly obtuse and brilliantly germane, and sometimes I really don't have the patience to sort out when a post is which.

I sense that you are trying to attribute hypocrisy. If so, then I take proper offense and would attribute base motives to your post or disappointingly partisan motives to your convoluted line of thought.

If, on the other hand, you are simply making a commonsensical observation that provides self-referential self-evidential agreement ... I find no point of contention.

Firm

(I guess I'll have to work harder on this obtuse bullshit)

Nobody would be at all astonished, since there is nothing to be astonished about in these two contrapositives.  In fact you and I are the only ones reading to the period in the first line in this one.

One of us can certainly call tu quoque, depending on where we want to put the chicken and the egg.

It is not obtuse, it is blatant.

So ... you are of the opinion that I'm a Christian who believes that the bible is the literal word of God, and that I do not see that I have a belief system?

Sorry. Obtuse, not blatant.

Firm

NumberSix -> RE: We HATES Her (10/4/2008 10:37:25 PM)

No, conservatism is your religion, as you hold up your mirror inwards, that you have so cleverly held outwards to others.

And there is nothing at all astonishing about that.
The whale is undoubtably one of the largest mammals alive today.
Firm is a conservative who thinks he is somehow instructing or enlightening the others.

Same, same.

We've been over this, Firmhand.  "Christianity" does not mean "believing the Bible is literally true."

I agree LaM. That's not what I said.
