mmmm... games...

Current MMO: City of Heros/Villains (though, I just cancelled my subscription so when it runs out mid november, no more for a while. Too much WORK (for classes) for it.)

Current Computer: Icewind Dale (I'm replaying it on my laptop *during* astronomy class XD I've gotten pretty far, considering it's only a twice a week class and I've only done it for the past three weeks... I just got to the Dwarven mines/place), KOTOR (in preperation for the team gizka remake of KOTOR II... it'll be so hardcore!), Spore (Yup, love it. It's amazing. I don't really like the civilization and space ages as much as all the others, though... and I SEVERELY hate creating buildings and vehicles), Solitaire (haha), there's some others but I'm not actively playing any. I need to get back into Oblivion.

Current PS2 (console of choice): Dragon's Quest VII, Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne (sooooooooo amazing), Suikoden (all of them *suikogasm*), among others. Mad Maestro (a PS1 game) is a ton of fun, too.

Can you guess my favorite genre?

I also love the pokemon games.

And I play DnD, and do lots of playing on RPoL too.

On a side note, how many of you actually pay for the games? Can't do anything about the MMOs, but single players? Do you buy them or......

I'm seriously thinking about buying both Spore and Colonization which have recently come out. I usually buy about 4 - 6 games a year. If you are refering to "actually paying for the games" as a reference to pirating and warez.... I stopped doing that years ago, once I started to understand what it meant to build something and then have it stolen from you.

EA has decided that they are not going to release Madden 09 on the PC. This despite it's long standing history as one of the biggest PC games. This action is because of piracy. If you ever want to continue to get games for your PC, then it's important that you consider buying the games instead of stealing them.

Or, at the least, rent them to play through them before deciding if you want them.

sadly you can't really rent pc games. At least not to my knowledge. I've bought some really crappy games in the past and have gotten burned. I tend to try to be more careful on what I'll buy now - at least checking reviews if it is a game I haven't heard of before.

Yeah...

I was speaking more about consoles.

That's the main problem I have with PCs... I'm NOT going to buy a game that I haven't played before (and I don't mean playing a tutorial, or playing a 'demo' I mean PLAY)... so I rarely will buy games until after a family member does. Even then, I just borrow theirs when they're done. *shrug*

Lots of fun. :)

Got into WoW for a bit with some friends who had a lot more time to spend (apparently) on it than I...and soon, being 10 levels behind kinda affected my interest. Went through about a 2-month span recently where I was getting into Guild Wars. Had a lot of fun with the short span I had with City of Heroes.

And, despite having a Wii and PS2 in the household, it's the 8-bit Nintendo emulator I have that's been getting the most action out of me recently!

Gamer Domme here. I've played all sorts of online games from Diablo to Star Wars Galaxies (Man I loved that game until Sony screwed it up!), Everquest, WoW and now Ages of Conan. I played a bit of Second Life though that got boring for me. So yeah there are gamers to be found here.

You and me both. I'm in an awesome guild, though, that doesn't even grumble at me for my highest level character that I won't play (54, a pally, and I hate her.... I started her because my son thought I'd like being a pally and played her because nobody told me you could just start another toon... when I figured -that- out, she was SOOOOOOooo gone!!!) and the toon I -do- mostly play being only Lvl 34 (see earlier message about coming back every couple of weeks to find out that I couldn't remember what I was supposed to be doing). I'm the only Elder in our Guild that doesn't have a Lvl 70 (and may -never- have a lvl 70 if I can't remember what I'm supposed to be doing with them once they get up around 35).

At least I got my Felsteed!!!

I -am- considering getting a PS3, though -- I want to play Rock Band, Devil May Cry, and Final Fantasy. (Unfortunately, nobody makes Echo the Dolphin any more).

I buy -- I may rent something like a Sonic game or something (Gotta love Gamefly), but mostly I only play the games I really love, and I buy those outright.

For me its' kinda like renting a movie like The Bucket List or Tank Girl -- you love it so much that you say "Oh, yeah, I'm going to buy this... but then time goes by and you forget, and you can't remember the title, or don't think about it at the store -- and then, a couple of years later, you say "Wow, I really want to watch The Bucket List", but you didn't buy it, and the video store doesn't carry it any more, and Netflix will take three days to get it to you... so you just sigh. So I buy the stuff I think I'm going to like outright. If it sux, I take it and trade it in at Gamestop.

..i buy PC games. Always do. In fact, ever since Looking Glass went under i've been vehementally opposed to copying them. The idea that a studio that produced some of the classic games of all times could go under is horrible.........System Shock, Thief..........sighs......

Hello Tabris, weren't they beautiful? Some of the end scenes took 20 minutes and it was like a trip into Syd Barrett's mind.

Amongst the long, long list of cool Japanese games I'd like to see get translated and ported here, there's this one Megaten-esque game called "Maten Densetsu: Senritsu no Opatsu":

I have bought games, but my PC has become really crappy (5 years old), and I realised that it can't run most games that I want to play.

So I have to settle for old games. Games from around 10 years ago. And its really irritating if you manage to find such a game you like from the GameSpot reviews and discover you can't buy it anywhere. So I admit I used torrent a few times...

Gamer right here! Been gaming since my getting my Atari 2600 as a wee li'l boy! (sigh) Sadly, I'm not very up on the more recent games...not that they're all that great. Call me a bitter old man, but games nowadays are all flash and no substance.
Don't play that much anymore (partly because I'm slowly-but-surely working on my own games), but I love the artsy sorta stuff that everyone else hates, like Rule of Rose, Baroque, and Killer7.

-Tabris

Yeah I feel the same way.  Everything is about flashy graphics now.  But it's been that way for a while.

Eeek. I was on Hello Kitty's website, to look for Christmas gifts for the girly girls in my life, and lo and behold, they have an online game, complete with events and gold.  Guilds, too, I think.  I haven't been back.

I don't game, never have.  Daddy plays that Ultima Online, it's loaded on my computer, I won't touch it.  I love me some gamers, and can hear about dragons and gold and shit all day long and be quite fascinated, but I just haven't brought myself to go to the dark side.  Perhaps if they offered me cookies?

Diablo III Is in the works and I can hardly wait for it to come out. I really enjoy those games, I hope this one doesn't disappoint.
