I just began traveling quite a bit for work. I am sometimes gone for 2 weeks (rarely 3 weeks, but it's possible). Am I still a viable Master for 24/7 TPE. What do I do with my current slave?

Pack her in the overhead bin.

I'm pretty sure there's a charge for oversized baggage though.

Call her and chat a couple of times a day? Text? Email?

You know, normal stuff that helps keep a relationship going. You need to talk about what is happening in your lives, what is causing stress, what is making her sad or what she has to look forward to. Without this you won't be aware of what's important to her or clued in to her.

You could ask her to bake you cookies and mail them to you or send you an erotic story.

I leave mine alone for 8 to 10 hours a day, depending on whether or not I have to work late.

So far, each time I've returned home and to my utter amazement, she was still functioning properly.

Seriously - there are people in 24/7 TPE relationships where one is currently in combat in Iraq or Afghanistan. Unless the two of you have fidelity issues, a few weeks apart shouldn't be that big a deal.

I only deal with solidly carry-on size slaves. I just don't want to share my per diem with her. :)

You can't leave a slave alone at all or it is not really 24 hours 7 days a week is it?
OK seriously now, for me,, 7 day without my master makes this one weak. ...

I am not sure what you are really asking.. For your current slave.. i would think you would keep her.. make sure she has ways to contact you, check on her while gone.. sit down before each trip and find out what she wants to do, plan out things to improve her, improve the relationship, and have fun. If you control her sexually also, plan some fun phone nights, or a surprise permission night...

as for would it make you still able to be a 24/7 Master.... That term (for most folks I know anyways) means you are in the master/slave role with each other all the time.. you usually live together, but not always.. You are not in a part time relationship, it is not a weekend or play partners,, but you are in an "all the time you are the master relationship". Gee maybe we should call it that: ATTYATMR

Talk to your slave about what they need to make it work.

If you can't take them with you, why not find another Dom or Domme to train them for you while you are away, think of the email reports you could request?
Why not ask yourself what you would like if roles were reversed?
It's amazing what empathy can do.

This isn't an issue unique to power exchange relationships. Some people (of any lifestyle orientation) can handle their partner traveling, and some cannot. Finding one that can will make your life infinitely less annoying.

This has got to be a joke. She's a functioning human being, isn't she? I should think you could leave her alone as long as you have to. If not, I'd seriously consider finding one that you could.

I'm with Rover on the Idea that there are many people who han handle being alone and many who can't what I would say is take a few moments and ask her how she feels about it and then make plans for what exactly you will do when you get back so that she knows she holds some priority in your life that you have made her part of the process of leaving and coming back.

Yeah, well there is the whole chocolate issue...I guess I was reacting to the title, "How long can you leave a slave alone?" It seemed a bit odd to me that you felt you couldn't leave a slave alone but maybe you could leave a cat alone or something like that. I agree with Steel and Rover that some people simply cannot handle being left alone; however, it doesn't have anything to do with her being a slave...at least, I shouldn't think it does.

I just read your profile over. Seems you want a "Stepford Wife" kind of slave...not so much an independent thinker. So, I guess if you left a looooooooong list of written instructions, she'd be ok.

OMG??? Never ever leave them alone! Crap you come home things are chewed up and they peed every damn place!

Give them a good amount of tasks to perform for Master while away. Household stuff, cleaning, painting, roof repair. As well as training tasks to work on and other things for the slaves self-improvement.

Remember as always a Busy slave is a Happy slave!

I'm sorry but this thread made me laugh. I am a slave, not a child...and therefore can be left alone for long periods of time. May not LIKE it, but it does happen. It's called life. And I am not even going to go into the whole "does this mean W/we are not 24/7" debate over this. I am His slave, He is my Master. It works for us and the hell with what anyone else thinks. Ok, so that came out a tad hostile....my sincere apologies

Yeah, that will give you something to do when you get back, all that retraining that she will need because she'll know how to serve that other Dom and not you. And three weeks spent with another Dom, yeah, that'll be really good for your relationship.
