2. Y'all folks going bugshit over VP nominations: off the top of your head, name the Vice Presidents going back to Harry Truman.

Can ya?

Cheney
Gore
Quayle
Bush
Mondale
Rockefeller
Ford
Agnew
Can't remember Johnson's VP
Johnson
Nixon
Don't remember Truman's either off the top o fmy head

Humphrey was under Johnson. I can't remember the Truman VP off the top of my head either.

It bugged me so I looked it up. He didn't have a vp from 45 to 48 and had Alben Barkley after 1948.

Goddammit, I've said it before, Palin's got it made. [sm=gaah.gif] She will write a book, give highly successful classes on stand-up comedy, and eventually she will get a spiffing contract with a television network for a syndicated chat show.

Dream on, Mike.  Perhaps you have discovered the missing Obama record that we can balance all these things against?  Something?  Anything???
No need for dreaming Heretic, all I need do is cast my vote on Nov.4th, watch the returns and sleep easy. You and Sarah can do the dreaming while you try to figure out the next move.....though after McCain has exposed her to the national stage and th scrutiny that comes with it she really has no next move...oh well maybe she can resurect her basketball career, isn't the WNBA in need of a point guard willing to play dirty.

That's what I thought, Mike.  You've got nothing.

Maybe "not being a Republican" will be enough.  Maybe the youth vote will actually show up on election day.  Maybe the Bradley effect will be 2-3 points instead of 6-8 (those are Democrat racists, btw).  Maybe the US will elect a guy with nothing on his resume'.

Between now and then, the questions are going to be asked.

Sarah is just a little bitty pretty tropical fish swimming in an ocean of sharks. She is being protected by a few big nasty sharks.......right now, while she is perceived as being useful to them. Once her usefulness is gone, or god forbid she is seen as a liability rather than an asset, by her shark protectors.....just watch how fast she disappears.

Unfortunately, for her, she is too dense to realize it.

she is running around making misleading, and outright false, claims that have either been discredited previously or have no proof to back them.

So William Ayers wasn't a domestic terrorist?  He didn't introduce Obama to his friends and associates, in his home, early in Obama's career?  Maybe some aren't as up on how these state legislature campaigns work, but hosting a "meet the candidate" is known as an endorsement.  From a bomber who says he's sorry they didn't do more...

Obama was completely ok with accepting that endorsement.

I'm sorry, my memory seems to be failing me.  What was William Ayers convicted of again?

How about Charles Keating?

So, one one hand we have a Senator who has an acquaintance with someone never convicted on charges filed when Obama was a child.

Then we have another Senator in a long-established friendship with a convicted felon whose criminal case caused McCain himself to be investigated by the Senate Ethics Committee on charges of corruption.

Should we talk about McCain's involvement in illegally supplying arms to Iran next?  That would be a fun topic.

No problem, RML.  It happens to the best of us.  The question was, "what record of accomplishment does Barack Obama have to set against all these negative questions?"

kittinSol -> RE: Sarahcuda blames Couric for her stupidity (10/10/2008 7:31:59 AM)

From day one, I knew Palin was getting used and abused by her party, and not in a good way either [&:] . Her political career is toast - but she'll be okay. She has the resilience of the dense, as you say.

1. If my name was Sarah (or even Sara), I would totally adopt "Sarahcuda" as my screen name on all Internet forums. I'd probably steal Plymouth's old Barracuda emblem as an a6vatar.

2. Y'all folks going bugshit over VP nominations: off the top of your head, name the Vice Presidents going back to Harry Truman.

Interesting that you used Truman since he, as I'm sure you recall, was one of the Vice-Presidents that had to assume the Presidency.

As did Johnson and Ford.  And Bush Sr. would have been also if the nutcase that tried to assassinate Reagan was a better shot.

Considering the percentage of VP's who have had to assume the Presidency you have to look at them as critically as the Presidential candidate and judge the ticket as a whole.

Are you really comfortable with the very real possibility that fluff bunny could become President?

Not sure what you are referring to by "record of accomplishment" because that can mean a lot of things.  If You are referring to his work as a Senator here is a partial list:

Bills in 2007-2008 (the 110th Congress) sponsored by Obama:

Oh how cute feel good token bills....
Unfortunately Palin is the most pro-gun candidate, McCain is a weasel who is anti gun only casting pro gun votes on token bullshit bills.
On one side Palin is strongly pro-gun but shes also happens to be a psycho Pentecostal, these whack jobs make hardcore southern baptists look sane

bipolarber -> RE: Sarahcuda blames Couric for her stupidity (10/10/2008 8:38:10 AM)

Wow, aside from the usual "fluff" bills, there's stuff in there against nuclear proliferation, dangerous toys, the HERO Act, Transparancy of Military Spending, Job Protection for Military Families... etc., etc...

Oh, hey, did I just read that William Ayres was not just on a charity board with Obama, but that Ayres also belonged to 27 other boards, many of which were headed up by prominent Republicans, as well? And that some of those boards were to organizarions OWNED by Republicans? Tsk, tsk, tsk...

I guess that depends on whether bills dealing with Iran, Iraq, veteran's benefits, nuclear and clean energy, and voter fraud, make you feel good .

But, judging from how fast your response appeared, you didn't even glance at the titles of the bills much less read what they were about.

You just want to spout what the talking heads on Fox tell you is the truth.

I believe I have said this before Heretic, but in case you missed it I will say it again just for you.My reasons(and I have noticed others here too) have been stated many times on these threads, you and certain others of your ilk keep challenging those reasons...the thing is,and this might strike you as funny ,I don't owe you an explanation for my vote.Nor is it incumbant upon me to try to sway the unswayable.

Actually, the type of fish that swims with sharks is called a lamprey. It's a parasitic blood sucker that gets a free ride by attaching itself to the old, wrinkly skin of a shark. And, as we all know, sharks have to keep moving, to keep oxygen moving through their gills. (Anyone else notice that McCain couldn't stop shuffling around during the debate?)

So, yeah, the anology is apt.

He was shuffling around because the chairs were too tall for him.  I think it was salon.com that figured the organizers should've been spanked for that (they didn't say whether they would be spanked leaning over said chairs.)

Certainly, although Roosevelt really shouldn't have been elected for the fourth term with the shape he was in. (and, just as a technical aside, Ford was not elected to the office of VP)

Honestly, I'm not comfortable with anybody currently on the ballot.

Just as another historical aside- anybody remember all the jokes made about Dan Quayle? Nobody thought he was a qualified VP candidate either. He had already served one full term as a U.S. Senator, following two terms in the House. Just asyin'

Now we have the female version of Dan Quayle although not as experienced, and possibly not as bright.  At least Quayle made sense some of the time.
