I noticed that too.  Heart never gave permission for their song to be used by the campaign and stated they would never have given permission if asked.

That was only when his wife, Marilyn, was there to whisper lines in his ear.   [sm=whisper.gif]

Now we have the female version of Dan Quayle although not as experienced, and possibly not as bright.  At least Quayle made sense some of the time.

I imagine that BMI and ASCAP have their own ideas about what's legal or not in licensing and pretty much, if the venue has an agreement with the licensing clearinghouses, then the artists are SOL -- excepting the negative value of the press releases.

So William Ayers wasn't a domestic terrorist? He didn't introduce Obama to his friends and associates, in his home, early in Obama's career? Maybe some aren't as up on how these state legislature campaigns work, but hosting a "meet the candidate" is known as an endorsement. From a bomber who says he's sorry they didn't do more...

Obama was completely ok with accepting that endorsement.

Can't you operate with your own playbook, or must you goose-step to the RNC talking points?

Just as another historical aside- anybody remember all the jokes made about Dan Quayle? Nobody thought he was a qualified VP candidate either. He had already served one full term as a U.S. Senator, following two terms in the House. Just sayin'

Actually, I was just thinking how odd it is that in 20 short years, we're now seriously considering a Presidential candidate whose experience at the Federal level consists of holding a Senate seat for about an hour and a half before he started campaigning for Chief Executive.

Then again, we did get so fed up with having a Rhodes Scholar in the White House that we went out and elected a C student next... [&:] I'm pretty scared to think what we may end up with next time 'round.

I'm sorry, my memory seems to be failing me.

No problem, RML.  It happens to the best of us.  The question was, "what record of accomplishment does Barack Obama have to set against all these negative questions?"

Nice avoidance of my points.

How very Roveian of you.

You mean the distractions you tried to throw up to obscure the points I was making to begin with?

Thanks for the compliment though [:D]

I don't get the talking points emails, Cloud.   And I've known who Bill Ayers was for a VERY long time.

LaTigresse -> RE: Sarahcuda blames Couric for her stupidity (10/10/2008 6:57:49 PM)

Do you suppose Katie Couric or Bill Ayers was up in Alaska whispering in Palin's ear telling her to break the law too? I am sure Barack simply MUST have told them to. Evil terrorist that he is and all.......

Ohhhhhhhh Sarah Palin, you really didn't think you could be successful at pulling the wool over everyone's eyes did you?

I believe I have said this before Heretic, but in case you missed it I will say it again just for you.My reasons(and I have noticed others here too) have been stated many times on these threads, you and certain others of your ilk keep challenging those reasons...the thing is,and this might strike you as funny ,I don't owe you an explanation for my vote.Nor is it incumbant upon me to try to sway the unswayable.

I didn't ask for your reasoning in voting the way you will, Mike.  I don't care.  I asked you what record Obama has to weigh against the big pile of negative questions he raises.  And you, like everyone else on this thread, have nothing.

bipolarber -> RE: Sarahcuda blames Couric for her stupidity (10/11/2008 8:04:25 AM)

So, the question is: how will Palin blame Couric for the Troopergate probe result?

You seem to be the one with all the negative questions running thru your mind...you answer them....Obviusly since I have made my choice,it follows I am comfortable with my choice....hence I have,in my own mind, answered or discounted all these questions. But than again I have had years to arrive at my decision. You and your party have had your V.P. candidate foisted upon you 5/6 weeks ago by an increasingly desperate presidential candidate.....it would seem you have some work to do with your own questions,or don't you bother?

TheHeretic -> RE: Sarahcuda blames Couric for her stupidity (10/11/2008 9:22:40 AM)

You're getting awfully defensive here, Mike.  Of course I'm going to determine my own answers to these questions.  What I'm asking you for is something to weigh them against.  If all I knew of Rudy Giuliani were his prudish attitudes on free expression, and his family life, that he gives a good speech wouldn't get him my support.

What has Obama accomplished that we can put on the scales?

slvemike4u -> RE: Sarahcuda blames Couric for her stupidity (10/11/2008 9:34:09 AM)

Hardly defensive Heretic....I am comfortable with my candidate and his stance on most of the major issues.....what I am not comfortable with is intellectual dishonesty, you know wherein someone asks a question despite the fact they have already drawn their own conclusions and have no actual interest in the answer.
When you actually ask a legitimate question, one where you are open to a possible answer.....get back to me.

After watching Michelle Obama on Larry King last night, it is obvious who the lady is. Michelle Obama made Sarah Palin and McCain's wife look like shallow window dressing. Michelle Obama was genuine and said nothing but positive things about Sarah Palin, Mrs McCain, and Hillary Clinton. That's class. That's the kind of people I want representing our country.

It has also become glaringly obvious who the candidate for "average main street America" is. It sure as hell isn't McCain and company. That man should be ashamed of himself for the pathetic, dirty lies and attacks his people are using out of desperation. It is sickening.

Also, lets talk about the "maverick" and his companions, that say they want to reform Washington and are, oh so concerned about "main street America". Which candidate has so many houses he could not be certain of the exact number? Somehow I doubt he has a clue what "main street America" that is faced with losing their, one and only, home is feeling.

I am thrilled that Obama will be our next president, that Biden will be the VP, and that Michelle Obama will be the First Lady.

AMEN!

Hmmmmm well for me there is no pile of negative questions. So I guess that means he doesn't need anything.  Glad I could clear that up for you.

Actually, they don't.  ASCAP and BMI cover playback only.  They have nothing to do with "right's usage"   To use the songs in the manner the campaign did would require clearance of certain rights. Typically that would have to come from the artist unless at some point they sold those rights.

Or the owner, which may not (and in my estimation, consider the Beatles) be the artist.
