What made my eyes roll today was this on the front page of the local daily newspaper - A County Circuit Judge on Monday ordered a 42-year-old man to pay two $100 fines and complete community service, in the form of speaking engagements, for striking and killing a 70-year-old bicyclist. The driver pleaded guilty in August to speeding and failure to maintain control of his vehicle, both misdemeanors. It seems a little light for killing someone???? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Oh, did i mention that the driver is a High School Football coach and "a very respected person in his community".

Yes very light, I would say either money was involved or a very prestiges family influnce..B . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I know that around here, bicyclists to not always follow the rules of the road. It is possible that the car driver was not totally at fault. Also. . . perhaps they knew that he would need as much money as possible for therapy.

This puts ER doctors in a really hard place, do you put down that the person "fell" down the stairs or "tripped" over the curb so that the insurance company will pay or do you put down that you suspect abuse so that the police can investigate it. Such bullshit. I just hope that this does not apply to children too.
