The problem arises when how YOU were raised to be polite differs from how I was raised to be polite, somehow if we are to communicate meaningfully, there must be some sort of compromise. It's futile to think that you're going to change someone else's sense of such things. Personally, I try to adapt as much as I can to those I'm around. For the parts I cannot, I hope they'll be able to adapt to me. Going to the table, however, with the "my way or the highway" attitude is just one great big "fuck you" to everyone else -- the definition of impolite if you ask me.

Specifically, in this case, I try reply to all cmail sent to me because I understand that someone else might be inadvertently hurt by a lack of reply. But that only goes so far. I consider it incredibly rude for a virtual stranger to assume claims on my time or interest. Conveniently, I am not afflicted with weird cmails so following my own internal compass happens to be easy in this case. It is also true that I do not get responses to all the cmails I send out. I very consciously make nothing of it even when I might've preferred a response. Whenever possible, I try to meet people on their own terms rather than demand we meet on mine.

I think not.

Being practitioners of the BDSM lifestyle doesn't entitle any of us to anything. Once we assume the mantle of any given role, our natural human reactions aren't altered, folded, spindled or mutilated. What makes any of us think that we are exalted, special or somehow entitled to anything, much less a response to an unsolicited message?

Such behavior borders on the sociopathic side of things.

Yes but some jump right to the worst case scenario. I've said what i wanted to say( actually a number of times :>).

It turned out to be a good thread despite the OP's attitude.

More than likely because neither shows as having viewed my full profile. As an aside, there has been more than one guy who I have responded to and had a polite exchange... only to get his come on letter again, word for word, two weeks later.

Actually, I usually give them more to oggle then let them know what they cannot dare to afford with their behaviour.  On a serious note, I tend to be flattered.  It's all cool.  I am the one with the breasts, I am the one with the power.
Pretty much rocks at that point.

When I first joined the forum I was inundated with messages …
( which honestly surprised me ) .. as my profile pretty much said in no uncertain terms … “I’m just here reading the posts and responses in CollarMe as a bit of “self education”
But being absolutely brand new to A/all of this .. I did TRY to politely respond to every single message I received ( even though some of the messages where Any Thing BUT Worth responding to ).
As others have already said .. Even replying with a polite ... “thank you for contacting me but I’m not interested” … for some odd reason, seems to be Exactly the response that elicits 5 to 10 MORE messages from “that” person, each one more demanding and rude then the one before.
Recently, I even changed my profile so as to recount a Much Stronger position of “Thanks, But… NO THANKS”
And it seems to be working thus far, though … *laughing* … now my profile isn’t “me” at all!!!
So … ( sadly maybe ) .. “no response” seems to be the Appropriate response as taught by experience
