Sister lived in the UK for 12 years had two children there, she is in the USAF, loved the healthcare there. Now trapped in the red state hell of OK. She would concur with you two I am certain.

I `ll vote for the one that didn`t run around like a chicken w/ it`s head cut off.

The one that didn`t pretend to suspend his campaign to fly to DC and meddle.

I`m voting for the guy that stayed cool and didn`t spout off about who he`d fire or blame for the mess.

I`m voting for the guy who`s campaign manager hasn`t lobbied an behalf of Fanny Mea/Freddy Mack to lower their regulations and rules, for the last two years.

I`m voting for the guy who will save Social Security and not hand it over to Wall Street con men.

I`m voting for the guy who end the Iraq debacle sooner, then later.

I`m voting for the guy who`ll get bin laden.
Well, this is all I gotta say...

However, i'm not voting for Obama because he wants to turn the US into the UK.  He's for bigger government and more government control.  If you think that's a good thing, ask some of our UK and Canadian members about the joys of socialized medicine, and having some basic freedoms curtailed.  Don't get me wrong, our system's broke too.  But ultimately that guy is offering us a trade--our basic freedoms for a short term fix for our economy.

Would you care to name which basic freedoms have been curtailed, in the UK ? I have to say that while there can be delays for some treatments, that is acceptable when the health system is available to everyone, rich and poor alike.

I can only imagine the onslaught after next week
after President Obama is elected.
Electing this country's first Black President, is bigger than most
of us can comprehend.
I shudder to think about the new hate filled organizations forming
as I type this post.

Let us hope your fears are unfounded MzMia...hopefully a country that can elect a black man President...can survive doing so!

mike? surely you are kidding?
You ain't seen nothing yet.
It is going to get so ugly.
Racial hatred still runs very deep for many all over the world.
I really only started this post to give some that really have no idea,

how bad it is going to get.
What really astonishes me is the fact, that many do not expect this!

Kidding MzMia...no ,hoping and praying for the best..but not decieving myself about the possibilities for the worst.
But I will say this MzMia...would any of this have been possible 10  or 15 years ago...Yeah the feelings still run deep in some, and yes an Obama Presidency will draw some out in the open, perhaps drive others to heretofore unseen acts of racial violence...and at the end of the day it will have been done and the next African-American who runs for President won't be the first...let me ask you something do you know who Larry Doby was ...look it up,google his name.It is interesting ,a Hall of Famer and yet in some ways just the answer to a trivia question....progress usually comes with some cost.

MzMia -> RE: Senator Obama /President Obama! Expecting the never-ending racial attacks! (10/29/2008 7:53:13 PM)

Well mike, I appreciate your posts.
I also see you trying to explain racists acts to some
of the people that don't "see" the acts as racist.

Good luck on that one, mike.
We can agree that racists and racism exists, and will
probably always exist to see degree in this world.

Those that want to "pretend" to not know what symbols of racist hate crimes
are, are engaging in games that I am not willing to play, mike.

These are My thoughts on America, racism, institutional racism, and widespread racial hatred for women, Black people, and minorities, gay people, etc. A few minutes ago, I heard about another  internet blog created to insult Senator Obama. There are many groups of people that have always hated Black people and people of color, and I am fairly sure there will ALWAYS be people that hate others for a variety of reasons. One of my new causes, is to start telling people to get used to and accept the stream of NEVER ending racial slurs, hate speech, insults, hate groups, that will begin becoming extremely active. My theory is that when Senator Obama becomes President, blind hatred will certainly increase, and some of the nastiest, evilest bigots will have a reason to live.I can picture an aging klansman near death that is dying, and the thought of a Black President causes him to jump out of bed with the vigor of a teenager. Expect it people, expect it.These groups will be proliferating, resurrected and will be emerging with a vengeance. My question to you is, are you really surprised?
Seriously, is anyone really surprised?
I will not let these hate groups, ignorant maladjusted, vile, evil and disgusting hate mongers ruin Senator Obama's Presidency.I was walking around thinking that for many, this will NEVER end. There will be people 200 years from now, that will still be saying evil, nasty and racist inflammatory statements about our soon to be President Obama.
If you feel you must even respond to some forms of the attacks and hate groups, please do, but don't it allow you to ruin your joy or run your blood pressure up. I am fully expecting an onslaught of evil and nasty images to emerge that may cause many of us to cry, gasp, and always shake our heads. Let me say it again, the hate groups are already here, many will be started and there will be many people whose sole purpose in life will be to spread their hatred of Black people, minorities and especially Senator Obama. Racism has always existed throughout the world, it always will exist to varying degrees.I would expect an onslaught of similar attacks when we elect a woman, any minority, especially Hispanics, Asians, middle easterner's or a Jewish president.Believe me if anyone from the above groups is ever elected President, the racial hatred and remarks will not be pretty.
Can you imagine the insults on a gay or Jewish President?....shuddering....

Time to step down from my soapbox now.I am thrilled, ecstatic, pleased and proud to see that Senator Obama will probably be our next President. I never thought I would live to see a Black person elected President. This is a reflection on how far Black people have come in America. From being brought here as slaves-----> to electing a Black President in less than 150 years. On the same token, I am voting for Senator Obama, NOT because of his skin color, but because of the person that he is.When Senator Obama is elected, he will be elected because of who he is and not because of the color of his skin.
There will be many among us, that only live to disparage, demean and degrade Senator Obama.  Don't let the soon to be widespread and very organized hate groups, hate mongers, evil and racist people of the world steal your joy!

I am proud to be an American, and I would not want to have been born or live anywhere else in the world.
That said, racism exists everywhere in the world, and that will probably NEVER change.
Peace

I agree with your general feelings regarding groups and individuals that are, and will continue to be racisst, intolereant of others religious beliefs, sexual orientation, or gender discrimination.  With respect to Obama, I think you can relax...he is not in the Oval Office yet..and possibly americans will remember what this country is all about, and it isn't to turn our lives over to Big Brother.  It's going to be close...but we should still have a country on Wednesday...with all its warts and scabs.

MzMia,not sure what I'm doing is trying to explain...as much as challenging their disengenuous statements, letting some of this stuff go unchallenged is not something I am willing to do...I have a son,and it is my hope the world he brings his children into ,will  have moved past this nonsense....each step forward is a step away from our past.

slavemike, I often listen to Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh.
I think it is important to know what the extreme right thinks.
We all know that racism and ignorance exists.
It will probably always exist in this world.

I am so excited about next week's election, I am giddy.
Don't let certain people steal your joy.
Most of these people can't change.
At some point, you just have to move on.
Racist people and racism is a part of life.

I have always known there are racist people around here.
Are you really surprised????

Think of how many people are NOT racists that are voting for Senator Obama!!!!
I have met so many young White people that have been foot soldiers for Senator Obama.

Black people only make up about 12% of the population, so guess who is mainly
responsible for Senator Obama getting so far?????
[:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]
THESE are the people that I focus on.

This is true, and it is paid for with high taxes...a VAT that went from what, around 10% initaially to around 17% I believe....a tax on petrol that has the price of gasoline more than double that of the U.S.   There is no free lunch...
And as far as the rich...they don't wait a month or two for treatments...the pay..or get on a plane and go to get treated.  At the turn of the century it was reported that 19 people in the UK were working for every retired person...that number is heading toward 4 to 1.....what happens than to universal health. how is it supported?
Just asking?

how sad that if you are against communism you must be a racist. I have found liberals to be the most racist because they are suttle in their racism.

It has already started right here on CollarMe, with a vengenance.

I hate to say it, but I am not surprised.[&o]

I am a bit surprised that I am seeing so many racist posts only 5 days
after the election, I can only imagine what the future holds.

I have decided that I am going to TRY to limit my posting, to posts that I feel
are productive and relevant.
I adore President-elect Obama, and I adore CollarMe, and I will not be coming
here daily and reading posts that could elevate my blood pressure.
So I will have to really be careful what I read, and I have a feeling I will be using
the block feature a lot.

I am not going to spend the next 4-8 years arguing with covert and overt
racists online, I don't have the time or the inclination.

I don't know much about economics. could you tell me someone creates a job that did not previously exist? why did this job not exist in the first place? what are the benefits for creating a job for which there is no market?

thanks, I'm taking an economics class next semester (it's only introduction but i'm really excited!!!!!!! I started reading keynes' general theory and and a biography about fdr today it's really cool stuff!).
