How fortuitous that I saw this post today.Imagine eating Iranian Caviar....my absentee ballot arrived in the mail today(mailed to me by my son ,the Deans List Student at NYU,he put the address on the envelope and a stamp...the only thing missing was the name of the addressee....sheeesh)well anyway Sanity thanks to you I can nw vote for the right candidate.....wait a minute,you don't suppose John McCain has ever eaten any caviar ...do you,how about Palin...while she's watching those Russians....has she sipped Vodka...

Status: offline 		I have to agree on the fact that this would have been a nonnewsworthy item if Powell had endorsed McCain.  Why would it be newsworthy to say that a pub endorsed a pub candidate?  Now if Hillary or Gore endorsed McCain, that would make the news.

Status: offline 		Yep IK, it would have just been a short paragraph on the 4th page of the morning paper.  At the same time, the Democrats shouldn't be crying negativity over conservative criticism of Powell.  After all, they tore Lieberman a new one for breaking with the party and for endorsing McCain.

Bill and Hillary have too much invested in the democrat party to do that, but I sure would love to be a fly on the wall of their voting booth!...youbetcha

I'm all for it...but if it we me I would drop out of the party providing me support for reelection and take my chances...but basically I am honorable...unlike Lieberman.

Status: offline 		Well actually Butch ,Lieberman has gone one better than that,didn't he lose a primary challenge and than run as a third party candidate...party loyalty is not exactly his strongsuit.Wouldn't bother me in the least,except he is such an empty suit....

Status: offline 		No I don't see the difference Butch.  As I said earlier, I have never been a fan of Powell.  He can't exactly do what Lieberman did, because he waited until 2 weeks before the election to make his endorsement.  It was a calculated move, and it has nothing to do with Powell's principles.  If people would actually read about the man's history, they'd see that's been a pattern with him all his life.  He did it in 1969, when he actively attempted to whitewash the events of the My Lai Massacre.  He knew what happened, but he made his phony reports anyway.  He did it to further his career; his principles have never came into play.

There is plenty about Powell not to be a fan of…I’m not talking about that…I’m talking about the difference between actively campaigning and expressing an opinion…once.

Status: offline 		I believe that all Powell was responsible for was investigating a letter that had been writen. The letter claimed the whole of the Americal Division was routinely committing war crimes. He was not responsible for the total investigation  My Lai....

Status: offline 		I respect Colin Powell for his military career and what he accomplished.  I think he was an excellent soldier.  However, that does not make him an excellent politician or "picker" of presidents.  I think he missed the target by backing Obama.  He gave a very thoughtful talk, but was not very convincing to me.  Obama still has to much baggage and under handedness going on....Reverend Wright, Bill Ayers, the list goes on.  Now we have somebody called Signor,  who is he?

....and I answered that point.  He can't actively campaign with only two weeks to go.  He didn't actively campaign for McCain when he donated the maximum amount to his campaign last year.  He waited until the last minute to see who the front runner would be.  He's an opportunist.  I find it laughable that Obama worshippers are taking glee in this endorsement.

Status: offline 		Colin Powell has an axe to grind with George Bush. He was asked to leave. He is by no stretch of the imagination a conservative, and has never been one. This was expected by all who follow politics..
