Status: offline 		There was a bit of an oopsy earlier in the McCain campaign which, effectively, said that a terror attack on the US would be good for McCain. An Al-queda website apparently agrees with him.

Would a terror attack on US soil change your vote? Why or why not?

I meant to add in the 'why or why not' portion and had to go to edit since I hit the button too fast, then had some computer trouble and had to reboot before I could come back and get the edit done, thank you for the two responses and if you care to answer as to why or why not, I'd love to read it. :)

Status: offline 		Not me, it would just prove, that Bush is a stupid fuck, moreso than now. Seeing we still have wide open borders, and lacking port security. Yet, we dump 100's of billions fighting a grudge war in the middle east.

It wouldn't sway me to either candidate really, actually it might help Obama, but I've not read nor heard what his plans are in terms of border security or terrorism in relation to inside the US.

Status: offline 		     It would not change my vote, but Mr Biden's comments of late, that Mr Obama would have his mettle tested within his first 6 months left me a bit chilled.  While the same might happen if McCain gets into office, i have a higher level of confidence in McCain's possible responses.  i don't want to have someone whose approach seems to be --if you need me, call me.--(paraphrased financial bailout response)  to learn how to respond on the job to an attack.

Status: offline 		No, my vote would not change.  I have far more confidence of Senator Obama's ability to handle a crisis than in Senator McCain.

Status: offline 		I would still vote for Ron Paul (if I could vote in the US) if there was a terror attack, because he's the only one who both understands why the attacks happen AND wants to stop them from happening.

I do expect an Obama win, though, and a corresponding 911-ish event sometime shortly thereafter.

Status: offline 		No it would not.  A president relies on his advisors and the Joint Chiefs.   They should be able to inform any new president of his options so he could make an informed decision.

   Hmmm, Yes, the borders are still not secure enough, and i would love to see the troops come home, preferably victorious.  However, there has not been a second attack on US soil (which is reported, at least, to have been in the planning and preparation stage) and the knucklehead got into office twice (thanks, i understand the questions regarding the 2000 election).

I would not change my vote either. I, too, feel more confident with Obama than McCain especially as his judgement seems more thoughtful and grounded than McCains. I would worry that with two wars already going on, McCain would get us into a third and Al-queda would get exactly what they want.

Status: offline 		It would not change my vote,because I want an intellectual with good working knowledge of ours/world issues.  I would also want one who isn't a bully, and enough humility to ask for the truth (in assessment of situations/causes), and help in making decisions about destroying American wealth (if we still had any) and American/others' lives.   M

Bush had only been in office 8 months on September 11, 2001.  Al Qaida's first attacks occurred during the 90's under Clinton's watch.  So much for your Bush/McCain fault theory. 

No, it wouldn't change my vote.  Obama would waste time trying to "talk" to people that attacked us.

Actually, that is one of the key reasons I am voting for McCain...for four more years of George Bush, and continuation of the seamless work being done these days between all our intel agencies.  I would be afraid that Obama's "change" might include tampering with this system, putting in place people who are ideologically focused and could be disruptive to these agencies, as much as change affects people in any enterprise when management  at the top  abruptly changes. 
An attack prior to the election would take the economy off page one and create a landslide for McCain.
But for me..I don't want him elected for that reason.  I was too close to 9/11 to ever want to go through that horror again.

Why would you gave more faith in McCain's responses?  I see him wanting to rush off and start firing before he even knows what happened.  he was to eager to start talking about military needs when the Russians and Georgia were going at it.

BTW did everyone actually pay attention to what Biden said?  He reminded everyone that the first attack on the WTC came shortly after Clinton was first elected.  The second attack came shortly after Bush was elected.  They are expecting something similar after the next president is elected.  What that actually says is they are looking ahead, planning, and prepared. 

No my vote will not change.

My vote will stay for Obama

Status: offline 		No, if anything it would strengthen my position. I would worry if McCain had to deal with a terrorist attack we'd end up in another war with a completely unrelated country. Maybe somewhere I'd really like to visit someday like Ireland. That would suck.

Please correct me if I am wrong but wern't the folks who drove those airplanes into the WTC from Saudi Arabia (our ally).  Bush & co. though did not waste much time in attacking two countries that had nothing to do with it.
Osama is also from Saudi Arabia.
So the question is, if the "terrorist" try to burn down the Rieshtag again who do we attack next? 
Venezuela or Mexico would be my guess....much shorter supply line and they have lots of oil.
