Would that be mutual masturbation or solo?

I've know a good handful of gay people that have told me they feel like they were born into the wrong body

Interestingly, recent research has found that, "in gay people, key structures of the brain governing emotion, mood, anxiety and aggressiveness resemble those in straight people of the opposite sex."

So that explains why my eyesight is getting worse.  All this time I thought it was because of middle age.

Isn't that the difference between two hands and one? [;)]

I do understand how words like mistake and error can be used in a derogatory manner... but that is the fault of the person using those words in that manner. But everyone using those words are not bigots.

And you do not see how comparing homosexuality with children born without brains is "derogatory"?

Its not a comparison...are you saying that being gay makes you more special then the child born with part of their brains missing... then using both gay and child without brains in the same sentence is derogatory to that child...See it works both ways if you want to be ridicules.

Kinda thinking that an extra pair of hands is much more pleasurable then one's own!

Bear,
even when you don't do it on purpose,
even when there is no way you could -
Sometimes, you reply to someone other than the person right above you, I mean, you quote the person you are replying to and all, there is no confusion,
But, by some devine grace,
some particularly stunning thread happens to sit right above yous,
Where your last sig line seems to be directed right at it.

Thank you for that. Makes CM almost tolerable, some days.

Indeed it is. You are comparing how homosexuality benefits the continuation of the species with how children with no brains benefit the continuation of the species.

Based on your comparison, it would seem to me you are saying gays might as well have been born without brains, for all the good they do the continuation of the species.

I would like to think those with brains contribute more to the continuation of the species than mere procreation.

And certainly contribute more to the continuation of the species than those born without brains.

But that's just the way I think.

I thought that depended upon which hand I used.

(ya, I've had weirder discussions ... not many [;)])

The point of putting this rot on the ballot is to energize the republican base.  They are desperately behind and they have known that for a while now.  So... try and pull it off one more time in the swing states, and get your undereducated bigoted sheep (err party members, to the polls.  It worked twice before to elect the dolt.

They call him "W" so he can spell it.

LadyEllen -> RE: Gay marriage (10/24/2008 2:54:27 AM)

The problem with the Christian/Biblical argument on all this is that it totally misunderstands that human sexuality is about far more than simply procreation.

If the sole purpose of our sexuality were the procreation of children to the glory of God then everyone is condemned outright from the off - any desire, any lust, any enjoyment of sexuality must be a sin.

And because Biblical assessment does not differentiate between small and large sins but recognises only sin, there is no difference in nature between those who practice even the most allegedly deviant behaviours and the upright Christian couple who whilst they would never dream of such, are made sinners by virtue of their mutual enjoyment of missionary position procreative sex.

Such enjoyment makes their Christian marriage a sinful relationship before God every bit as much as they might view a gay or lesbian marriage or the marriage of two kinksters.

Thus, either all marriage is OK before God or none is.

And then we're back to the notion of let him that is without sin cast the first stone.........

Since I don't believe in "sin", I guess that would be me ;-)

A noble effort, Lady Ellen, but you are preaching to a group who have the Nuremberg Defense memorized (Nuremberg Defense: "I was only following orders").

You are asking them to question their god's reasons for issuing orders, which of course they will refuse by claiming the mind of god is unfathomable but isn't it fortunate he meant all his rules to be understood the way they understand them ;-)

Thus you have denominations that will conduct gay marriages, and you have denominations that believe all gays are going to hell.

None of these groups are working through the rationale behind ethical behaviour. They are simply being told what to believe, and they either believe it or find a new denomination that preaches a gospel more in line with the way they want to live.

Designer Denominations, if you will.

This 'god-concept' is remarkably adaptable.

In the antebellum south every preacher in every church taught that god sanctioned slavery, that Jesus never spoke out against it tho' he had the opportunity, that Paul teaches slaves to be good and obedient slaves as part of their path to heaven ...

Meanwhile you have the preachers in the North teaching that slavery is bad and people should treat others the way they want to be treated and what they do to the least of us they do also to Christ, etc.

Nice thing about a big book that tries to merge a war god with a love god: you end up with a book that says just about anything you want it to say.
