Homosexuality in itself does not benefit the continuation of the race anymore than a child without a brain...

I do understand how words like mistake and error can be used in a derogatory manner... but that is the fault of the person using those words in that manner. But everyone using those words are not bigots.

And you do not see how comparing homosexuality with children born without brains is "derogatory"?

beargonewild...Homosexuality is a mistake of nature in the same way as a child born without arms and legs...or retarded..or autistic. these things have nothing to do with the worth of a person. They are only mistakes as they deviate from the norm and only apply to creation.

There are  all manner of people with diseases or conditions caused by mistakes in their gene code...

If geneticists, psychologists and sociologists are still unable to prove that homosexuality has a genetic basis, then how can you state that homosexuality is a mistake in the genetic code without sounding like you're tossing out excuses? That logic fails me completely.

beargonewild -> RE: Gay marriage (10/23/2008 7:06:53 PM)

Thus to take that point that homosexuality is a mistake in the genetic code. The next logical step is to state that people like myself are a mistake. If that's the case then you might as well put a gun to my head and pull the trigger since that is where that statement is leading to.

camille65 -> RE: Gay marriage (10/23/2008 7:08:34 PM)

I've know a good handful of gay people that have told me they feel like they were born into the wrong body. I think thats what he was trying to say, that it was being born into the wrong gender.

Its very possible I'm wrong but I didn't see him as being derogatory, just perhaps using poor word choices in a thread that has some pretty awful things being said.

http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/200811/transgender-children

This is a long series but very worth reading. Some of it made me angry, a lot of it made me sad and some made me very glad for the progress made in acceptance.

There is mention in some of the articles on how there are people who feel born into the wrong body. So yeah, not only do I know folks but I've read about them too. It doesn't mean they were born wrong, just that they feel that way.

Intervention and therapy (involving drugs, as we're dealing with genetic abnormality resulting in aberrant behaviour, right?)

Don't worry, Bear, we'll have you procreating in no time. You just keep taking those meds, I am sure there are lots of women who want to procreate with you.

A lot of women on here, anyway.....

MissSCD -> RE: Gay marriage (10/23/2008 7:24:16 PM)

You think your state has problems?  In South Carolina, Amendment One on the ballott wants it to be legal for a 14 year old girl to have sex if it is her consent.  Now frankly a 14 year old girl does not know her body well enough to know when to have sex.  Then they don't want to use condoms.  Etc. Etc.Yes I will vote straight democrat and no on all the amendments.

Here in Florida we have Proposition 2 on the ballot this election.  it is a constitutional amendment stating that marriage is between a man and a woman.  I just saw a commercial which claimed they were not taking rights away from anyone jsut defining what a marriage was.  There are many legal rights that come with being married.  Denying a group the rights to marriage is denying them those rights.

Personally I will be voting no.  Currently it doesn't look like it is going to pass since Jeb Bush (at least one Bush did something right) helped push through a law making 60% of the vote neccesary for a constitutional amendment.

My question is, How can so many people who want the government out of things decide it is ok for the government to legislate something so personal as marriage?

I'd happily procreate with Bear :)

You don't really think this ammendment is the result of 14-year-old girls petitioning for the right, do you?

beargonewild -> RE: Gay marriage (10/23/2008 7:26:59 PM)

Well Johnny and tsatske, I think it would be quite feasible if artificial insemination was used or just clone my DNA!

tsatske -> RE: Gay marriage (10/23/2008 7:28:34 PM)

hey, Greedy!
You tried to weasel out of an arranged marriage with my son based on your inability to do just that!

Good point camille. For the record, I wasn't implying that the poster was being derogatory. I was simply trying to point out what I felt was an illogical way of thinking. I do agree with you that some of the words used were poor choices; on that I find no fault.

GreedyTop -> RE: Gay marriage (10/23/2008 7:32:11 PM)

LOL Tsa!  Yeah, but Bear would never take me up on it (besides.. like I said.. I'm right at the edge of non-breeding status now...)

OMG!! I guess I can never get married!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
