lusciouslips19 -> Collar me employment section? (10/29/2008 5:53:57 AM)

Just thought I should put this out there. If anyone here knows of a job that is available in their area and post it for those in their area. Plenty here are looking.

I am seeking in the Chicago area.

I am creative, talented, good with people, can publically speak and instruct and sell. I am internet savy, good with research and collecting information. I also am a certified massage therapist but cant really do that as a career because of problems with joints. It is only something i can do occassionally.

Have you tried glucosamine chondroitin. It works on my arthritis, carpal tunnel, tennis elbow, and the torn meniscus.  Without it i would be in constant pain.

i take it and its helpful. but the isometric force of massage done properly and overuse for 15 yearsm the ability to do 7 massages in a day is not feasible. It is very physical labor.

Wait a min. I can help both of you. Just lay on top of me and move your body around. How hard can that be.

I love this idea.  Networking, I'm told, is the best way to get a new job.  I was laid off my previous job after 8.5 years of employment.

That was a computer company, I worked my way up from customer service rep (bottom of the ladder) to phone tech, then to team lead.

I have Bachelor's degrees in English and Spanish (have forgotten most of the Spanish, but not the English) and a Master's in Counseling.

I'm a Mensa member, which can be good or bad to tell people, and I can learn to do almost anything - fast.
I've been on the Internet since the days of Usenet and Telnet, before the web was popular, and I built my own nonprofit from the ground up.

Please don't let me end up working at Wendy's!   Argh!

I think this is a great idea.  I'm in the Portland, OR area & I just quit driving a truck which I did for nearly 7 years.  I quit because I wanted a real life again, you know, coming home every day & 2 days off every week, that sort of thing.
I've done many different jobs over the years:  I have held clerical jobs in the medical field;  inside sales for a Scientific Products company; medical office manager.  I'm intelligent, hard working & quick to learn anything new.  I enjoy challenges on the job & in life.  I have an Associates degree in computer programming, although I've never worked in that field.  I enjoy & understand computers.  I have a high mathematical aptitude & am exceptional at customer service.  I also am able to have rapport with difficult people.

Whats wrong with starting your own home based busniess. What are you good at. I have freinds who make a good living buying and selling things off of e-bay and craigs list. Look at the needs in your area and build from there. My sons friend started out mowing lawns. He has a big lawn care busniess going now. My daughter barters mural painting and doing web sites for extra money. You can clean houses. Do peoples gardening or shoping. If I need extra money I paint houses. I even make money taking people hunting and fishing. Use your imagination and act on it.

I need health insurance due to ongoing medical problems.  The medicine is actually being donated by the drug company because I am under 200% of the poverty level with no insurance.  However, the doctor's visits are not.

I wont' start a debate about health care here, but...I am in need of it and cannot access it due to lack of money.  I do understand Ebay actually offers it if you sell enough, but I haven't figured out what sells yet.

LB use your skills to tutor. Put ads up in stores and restaurants. Even school bulletin boards.

Has anyone who likes children ever tried Nanny work. I know several who make more than I do. I have one friend who just does Day getaways for women who need a break. She is usually booked solid.

CarrieO -> RE: Collar me employment section? (10/29/2008 12:20:42 PM)

This is a great option (the nanny idea)  and many people will offer benefits.  Check out this site  http://www.domesticherald.com/
in their links section there are lots of reputable agencies listed.

Personal /Family Assistant work is great also.  I have a friend that has just started her own dog walking/house-sitting business. She has so many clients she's had to hire another person to help.

I'll be looking for something myself come summer of next year, probably on the west coast. How's it looking job-wise in the San Francisco/Portland/Seattle area?

Raymond, I love your ideas.  My problem is that I get stuck in a box & can't thnk outside it.  I would love to tutor or nanny as I adore children.

Wooohoooo!!!  But how far would I have to commute to spend time with Daddy in OR?

LadyEllen -> RE: Collar me employment section? (10/29/2008 12:43:00 PM)

dont you have to undergo police background checks and get local authority registration in the US to be a nanny and related jobs?

I wondered about using my prestige car (which stands idle much of the time) and offering an executive taxi service - hiring a driver in as needed, picking up business types from the airport on pre-booked appointments. And extending that to book hotels for them and so on too. Whenever I travel for business, this is always the pain in the neck aspect if those I'm visiting arent arranging it for me.

And aside from/in addition to that, maybe using it more like a conventional private hire taxi for ladies only? Shopping trips to Birmingham and all that sort of thing.

E

When you go through an agency, yes...they run background and credit checks and fingerprint (sometimes, depending on where the job is). Unfortunately when people hire right from the paper or craigslist (not something I suggest for many reasons) they don't always bother.
